I highly doubt there's a single poster around here who is a bigger Rodgers than Packers fan.
And yet nearly every one of your posts on the matter is positive Rodgers and negative towards the organization. Weird.
In my opinion it's actually the other way around. There are too many people around who hate Rodgers more than they care about the Packers and it skews their opinion.
nobody doesnt appreciate what he has done. They are just realistic at where his skill level an attitude is currently at. You have repeatedly insisted he is still playing at a high level. Yet watching him now and clips of 10 years ago it is very obvious he is no longer what he once was.
It's utter nonsense to believe Rodgers being traded won't impact revenue at all. Especially considering it could be the main reason for the team to struggle for quite some time. I definitely don't expect them to be competitive next season.
then explain it. How will next years revenues suffer because of Rodgers absence? Will ticket holders demand their money back? Will folks eat fewer brats at the stadium? Will the NFL withhold the TV revenues? This is the hero worship ideas that seem to show a greater appreciation for Rodgers than the Packers.

Gutekunst should be fired immediately if he allows fans on a forum to have an impact on his decisions.
Anti Packers.

That's hilarious. You agree that Rodgers appearing on the McAfee show makes them a ton of money but yet you truly believe that him not being on the Packers anymore won't have any impact on their revenue :roflmao:
I will explain it for you, though it should be obvious. One is an entertainment talk show that has 5x as many listeners when Rodgers appears on it.

Next season when Rodgers isn't on the field, the exact same number of tickets will be sold to the Packer games.
It's mind-boggling there are that
many fans who truly believe that comment lowered his trade value.

Rodgers will be 40 years and nine months old at the time the 2024 season gets underway. There have only been five quarterbacks in NFL history who have thrown more than 300 passes after being that old and yet some of you think the Jets needed Rodgers to tell them on the McAfee show to figure out there's a distinct possibility he would only play another year?

Some of you really need to use some common sense.
So you think that Rodgers is so amazing that the Jets would value having him for one year as for two? And that being unsure that he even wants to play wouldn't matter? That he is so awesome they should trade just to be associated with his greatness?

Most of your post doesn't make much sense. You can't see it - but the pedestal you have put Rodgers on clouds your judgement.

So now you have to like the front office to be a fan of a team? IMO an average of over 50% of the fans of every professional team do not like their front office.
Please enlighten me on all of the players in the twilight of their careers are better now than they were 10 yrs. ago. Just a terrible example IMO. The current AR is still a top 8 QB.
I agree that the trade of AR will have a minimal decline in Packer revenue in the near future.
Anti Packers? IMO that was anti anyone who believes that Gute ever read a single fan post on a message board and worse thought swayed his decision. That is truly delusional IMO.
Agree. Their will be a slight decline if Love stinks. I am too hung over to go, It's too cold, not woth getting in trouble with the wife, Do I really want to spend that much at the game, etc. Just a few things that might keep someone at home for a losing team. IMO the same amount of tickets will be sold but I do not believe the same amount of people will be in the stands. IMO this will be a very small %.
IMO the original trade offer was made with the knowledge he might retire after 1 year with the Jets. If these reports are true I give the Jets F.O. a lot of credit for using the 90% in the current negotiations.

and part of the Legacy Rodgers has helped build with this team will continue to make the team, city and league money for years after he's gone.

Spot on. I've asked several times, for the OP of this nonsense to show me the logic and the actual money trail....crickets. Come on people, show me the $50+ M that Rodgers brought the Packers in 2022.

I can't understand how people just don't see the obvious. Are they so blinded by their love of Rodgers that they actually think the Packers are going to just lose all their fans and be cut out of the media deal that the other 31 teams are in on, because Rodgers is gone? I got news for them, the majority of Packer fans want Rodgers gone. Further, a majority of those fans know that Rodgers gives the Packers a better chance of winning in 2023, but are fine starting the "post Rodgers era" a year or 2 early. This isn't about Rodgers play on the field, it is more about his play off the field.

As a Packer fan I would have liked Rodgers to finish his career with the team as there's no doubt in my mind he currently gives the team the best chance to win
That's exactly what you said last year. And wasn't to our benefit

So you think Gute is immune to popular opinion? He's probably the only one. I did not say only forum. And your opinion was IMO absolutely the strongest. "Without doubt he gives us the best chance." Well just about what you said and still say. And those kind of opinions are what caused us to not have an awful lot of high draft picks.

I dont think you have to be a fan of the FO to be a fan of the Packers. But some side with Rodgers 100% of the time and continually criticize the Packer organization.

Rodgers as a top 8 QB right now? Even before the thumb injury he was average at best. And that's with his smarts making up for decline of physical skills, which will continue to decline.

My point with the 10 years, there are some who seem to think he is still at the top of his game. When I state he has been in decline for a few years they assure me that he has not declined, citing the back to back MVPs.

When the fastest guy in the league loses a couple of tenths of a second that means he has slowed down it does not mean he is slow. IMO.

Take age out of the equation and IMO AR is a top 8 QB in talent still.

you have a point, but I don't think we would have realized the benefit of a lot of QB's with a broken thumb, a constantly revolving door of inexperienced pass catchers, and a offensive line in constant shuffle with massive holes on the right side. While it wasn't a great benefit, I can see how last season could have gone a lot worse too

This has been debated a lot, but personally, I just think it was just time to move on to Jordan Love. I don't think it makes sense to go "all in" and sacrifice the future to win now with a player that is only going to be here for 1-2, maybe 3, years. Especially if that player is wavering on retirement after every season.

Even if you wanted to despite the short window, where is the $ to make the moves to get the players necessary to get us over the hump to win a Super Bowl going to come from? We've had cap problems for years now.

Finally, we have a young core of players along with a young head coach. All of these factors combined point to moving on being the right decision, at least to me. We also could have gotten a king's ransom if we had traded Rogers last year and would perhaps have been set up for a rebuild (which was inevitable anyway), like no other team in NFL history.

With that being said, I do agree and realize that we don't know how this is going to turn out for us, it could end up badly for us. It's also not like good quarterbacks (which are necessary for championship football teams), much less HOF caliber ones, grow on trees.

I was curious my self and IMO if you told me pick a QB for 2023 only, no future thinking who do I want....I would pick these QBs over Rodgers:

Mahomes, Burrow, Hurts, Allen...

Those are the only four that quickly came to my mind....I say Herbert isn't quite there yet for one year bet, Tua has health issues and I see Lawrence similar to Herbert...Lamar just massive health concerns...

So I say 2023 Rodgers is a Top 5 personally...

but if you even just factor in or allow you to say for the next two years....guys like Herbert, Tua (health), Lawrence...Lamar all start having arguments. So he's still IMO easily Top 10 even considering two years further maybe....in the same respect though value could be argued is more there knowing they'll be here in 2024 in guys like Geno, Dak, Goff, Jimmy G, Carr....and others.

I would agree with that, but you also have to factor in money and other variables. Without restarting the whole rationale behind trading Aaron Rodgers discussion, on the field performance is probably near the bottom or not even on the list of reasons for trading him.

except that's not what anybody has been saying. The point being we think there would have been a noticeable difference in the money flowing thru GB and every city they visited over the past almost 2 decades had a QB like Brett Hundley been the starter all that time. He has had significant value to this team, city, and league.
Why would more be coming to GB if they're sold out, regardless of who the QB is? Why would any of us care about the other cities, or, for that matter, the league?

well, because I think winning teams tend to draw more than losing ones do. Rodgers had a lot to do with that for a long time. I don't think people are as apt to shell out big money to go see games led by Brett Hundley. I'm not saying everything shuts off if a QB leaves, but is it really such a stretch to say the stars of the game drive money to teams, cities and the league? why doesn't the XFL have the TV contracts the NFL does?

why do I mention other cities and the league, well exactly for the reasons others think it doesn't matter. When you have a star and you help drive the entire league and it's revenue, the Packers benefit. They drive excitement in other cities when they travel to them. When their fans travel with them, everyone benefits. It's how the league is set up. So it all matters.
And while lambeau is always sold out, not everyone shows up. They might have the ticket sales, but they miss the merchandise on day of game sales, beer, food, hotel etc. So the city also cares.

Agreed.

Home teams receive 60% of ticket sales, while the other 40% is entered into a "pot" that is split between all of the teams in the league.

Just like the shared revenue from media contracts, the NFL has made sure that 40% of the ticket sales are evenly distributed. I do not see the Packers 60% of their home tickets sales ever going down. Unless, you want to factor playoff ticket sales, which they didn't have any in 2022.

Another little tidbit I learned about revenue sharing, the revenue made on NFL licensed jerseys and other gear, is equally split among teams. So if you buy an Aaron Rodgers jersey, all of the profits from that sale do not go directly into the Packers hands, only 1/32nd of it.

Back to the OP. What are my expectations for Jordan Love?

Love was amazing in college, up to his last season. They changed the coaching staff, the scheme, and most of the offensive players. He didnt succeed. He tried too hard to do everything and compensate for the inexperienced teammates. Had he duplicated the prior year and he is going top 5 in the draft. He has incredible elite skills. A very strong arm with a quick release.

He was slowed by his first year having no training camp in the COVID year. He looked rough his first year and looked better his second season - but not ready. Last season was much different. He looked poised and patient. He went through his progression and snapped those passes in accurately. His pocket movement and awareness was good but could be better.

I am expecting he will have a good season. He is at a point where he needs to play in regular season games to improve. I imagine MLF will push the running game early and take the pressure off Love thinking he needs to do it all. The word is he is a great student of the game and thought very highly by his teammates.

I'm going to say he ends up ranking 10 -14 in most QB statistics. So 3,950 yds 28 TDs 14 Ints. Packers go 11-6 and make the playoffs.

Interesting.
Although I won my #12 in Roulette for $5 (on Blue #12)on the Jersey Shore Boardwalk  (true story). I had no idea how prophetic that bet would become!

It would be interesting to see how the Packers did the year after Bart Starr stopped playing. I have no idea, but my guess is the history of the team as a whole has a residual effect and it takes many down years to show dramatic decreases in revenue. I don’t 2023 is any exception.
Also, did Brett Hundley resign with us? I didn’t see that. :roflmao:

Why are we living in the past is my question?
Why is it so surprising to some fans That the Packers would move on from a soon to be 40 year old QB coming off his near career worst season?
* No he was not a Top 5 QB
*Yes his Contract is ascending in the wrong direction.
*No we did not make the playoffs and our Offense spiraled at home against the Lions! Pathetic
*Yes he makes league high $$$
*No he didn’t play anywhere near $50Mil worth imo.
*Yes Rodgers is fed up with our FO and continues to make that publicly clear.
*No he’s likely not playing through his current contract before retiring
*Yes he’s likely retiring soon
*No he’s not the only QB in the world that can win games (contrary to some sentiment)
*Double NO he’s not a good role model!!
*Yes you heard me correctly and I should’ve bolded and changed the font there!

Who cares if he plays lights out elsewhere in 2023. He doesn’t want to be in GB and he’s made that clear. He’s likely out of the league by 2024-2025 by his own admission.

We’re acting like he’s invincible and going to play forever. He’s said himself he thought about retiring after last season. Why on gifs green earth would we triple down on him playing multiple years? He’d need to play 3 years minimum just to cover the risk Of starting completely over at QB. It ain’t happening and Rodgers is the reason why.
I think they wanted to move on after last year

but think of the public relations storm if they did that after back to back mvp seasons

Sure and it was the right move for the most part. Rodgers was holding our FO families hostage and he was going to make them pay (literally!)

This having a mediocre season and missing the Playoffs at home against the Lions Defense brought him back down to Earth. He’s just a human. The fan sentiment tide turned and we can see that in these polls. 70% of the fan base wants him gone, including me
