You think he mis-hit it but did intend for it to go out of bounds?

No, I doubt he intended at all to kick it out of bounds, but was instructed to try and keep it away from Sanders who had just run the previous one back what 67 yards?

Yes I get what you are saying and I agree to a point, but I think not trying to run it once, at least a QB sneak ala Bart Starr in the ice bowl game was negligent.

Sadly, I don't think our OL is built for short runs and last night they were definitely getting overpowered by a better Philly DL.

Loss of Williams first series really crushed our rushing game. He got decent yardage vs Denver after AJ was getting stuffed. He is our answer to the lack of run blocking. I would think he'd have gotten a shot or two at the 1.

Maybe. You'd think if the instruction was to keep it away, he'd have just tried to kick it out if the EZ.

Our runs went nowhere all game and we're well stuffed. Pass was the right option. Or throw to Jones.

I know the run game was not that great but atleast try to run the ball. All we needed was one yard.

Atleast use Vitale and try and plow it in.

Didn't we used to be able to stop the run not that long ago? And the secondary was the problem? When did that switch?
Yes. Not long ago it was our run D that played well and our pass D that gave up 400 yards routinely.
I’d rather have a run weakness as far as overall lesser of two evils.
We had Martinez in the middle completely alone on many plays. That’s a recipe for disaster against a formidable running attack, crossing routes, slants, etc..
Also on the goal line D it’s advantageous to have a couple of LBs in the middle who can get a running start and plug or punch the ball if the QB or RB goes over the top. We had no one on at least 2 short yardage plays. 1 FD 1 TD given up. There’s a lot to learn from successful run D’s around the league. These are just a few tidbits that would help.

I'm a bit surprised at all the negativity towards Jimmy G in regards to this game and this game alone. Maybe its a hangover effect from how bad he has been in the past. Could he have caught the one TD pass? Maybe, but it wasn't a sure thing. He had 61 yards and a TD on 6 catches, I will take that every game from him.
I agree. But for the record he dropped 2 basically back to back. Neither was easy, but at least 1 more he should’ve snagged IMO. That’s supposed to be his strength.

I was at the game ~ I usually get to one, in person, every 2-3 years. THE most surprising thing to me was the sheer number of Philadelphia Eagles fans that were there. I'm guessing that 10-15% of the fans in the stands were wearing Eagles gear. Based off of the official attendance of 77k that would mean there were 7,500-11,000 Eagles fans.

As we tailgated in the parking lot after the game waiting for traffic to thin down it was embarrassing that INSIDE LAMBEAU the Eagles fans were singing their fight songs enmass ~ very clearly audible outside (& I'm sure in the locker rooms).

Hardly a home-field advantage when Eagles fans are making noise during our offensive plays and the loud cheering every time the Eagles had a big play or scored. :(

The latter is the key point.

Those catches were not easy. But Graham isn't a good blocker, he doesn't run away from coverage, and he doesn't gain yards after catch. He is an overpaid contested catch receiver. He's got to make those plays, or what good is he?

Best remedy for that? See them again in the playoffs and shove it down their throats.

I still believe Graham will contribute, I just don’t think he’s worth near his contract. We’re kinda stuck with him now this season, we pushed our Chips in already, too late to fold.

Hey Bud, yeah. Sadly, that's been the way for years now, I believe especially so over the last decade or so. I don't mind it too much, as these opposition fans regard the Lambeau experience as something truly special. I've seen a lot of fans of our opponents over the years just enjoying the experience. Sounds like a number of the PHI fans were riding some big A-hole game though Thursday...

I hope your next game is a gigantic winner for the Packers!

Zartan! AND maybe an extra OL!!!! I want to see more dedicated heavy run packages, one's where we can tee off and maul our opponents. Not sure we currently have the depth for that, but we can try.

Remember the U-71? I loved that kind of stuff.

Run blocking is an attitude. No way can we establish anything in the run game if we continue to allow for just 20 or less attempts by our RBs. Our OL needs to hone in on inflicting punishment in run blocking. I'm hoping Gutes adds another mauler OT before the deadline. It would help immensely. Keep Rodgers safe too.

Poppa San! I'm really hoping they focus on run blocking this week, and that they activate Dexter Williams. I understand being a rookie he is a bit shaky in pass pro, but, I'm hoping they figure they won't have to worry about that and just run, run, run when he is in there. The guy is good for those power 1-2 yd runs for a 1st down or at the goal line. Plus, he's got such a great, decisive cut upfield with incredibly deceptive acceleration at the 2nd level.

If they can get Dexter better trained at pass pro, he will be a legit weapon in this offense.

That's why I desperately want for Gutekunst to add an OT. A high quality/value OT via trade.
It would be nice to have all sorts of quality OT's and G's, but they don't come easy or cheap, nor are they just hanging around waiting to be signed right now. There are quite a few teams out there wishing they had a better OL than what the Packers have. Could you trade for one right now? Probably, but he is going to cost you an arm and a leg, if he is as you say "high quality/value".

Bulaga may be on his last year with the Packers, but they will need to ride him out this season. It will be after this season that the Packers will have a more realistic chance to get his replacement, via Free Agency or the draft.

Oh, Dude! I do know that. However, there is a pretty rare opportunity to snag one of the best in the NFL from WAS in Trent Williams. There is no relationship between player and team there, and we might be able to pull that one off.

I'd rather get quality help in there now, so we are not exposing Aaron Rodger to further risk. The smart play is paying now to reduce that risk, and maybe the whole OL complexion changes for the better.

Yes, next year, OT must be a top draft/FA target.

I'm pretty sure Bulaga getting injured surprised not one soul here. Pretty sure we all anticipated that coming. This is one of the few areas I'm a little disappointed in Gutekunst with. Gotta protect the franchise!

While Trent Williams was a top OT in the NFL the last several years, he is 31 and is a Left Tackle. Sure you could see if he would switch to RT, but he will want to be paid LT money. Speaking of which, he held out and hasn't played yet, reportedly wanting more money. Sure he is/was a great LT, but I wouldn't roll the dice on him due to age, position and his "I refuse to honor the contract I signed" attitude. May just be me, but that last part is a deal breaker for me, getting tired of it.

His beef with Washington is they misdiagnosed his injury & told him to play... he paid for his own medical team to diagnose & fix him. He has ZERO trust in Washington's management and doesn't want to play for them ~ he's said he either wants to be traded OR they better pay him a lot more, in part to cover the many thousands he spent fixing & rehabbing himself. Don't think he's got a bad attitude towards NFL football, just the 'Skins.

I suppose Gute could offer up 2020 1st & 4th rounders and see if the Skins would take it for a 1-1/2 year rental of Williams. He's due $6.75Mil for '19 and $12.5Mil in 2020 but would be a huge OT upgrade assuming Bulaga is out for some time.

Give up a first and a 4th and pay top dollar for a 31 year old left tackle to play right tackle?? no thank you.

We need to replace Bulaga for sure as I've been harping on for a while.

But if we're going to do it, we gotta go younger and not go with a guy who's even more injury prone.

Injury prone? He's missed 24 games over the last 9 seasons ~ He's played 83.3% of the games since 2010. Not saying Williams is the answer, but to say he's NOT the answer because he's injury prone isn't correct.

It's close to impossible to acquire an elite right tackle at this point of the season.

It's a fact the Packers offensive line doesn't excel blocking for the run. Therefore it doesn't make any sense to target a specific amount of rushing attempts. With Rodgers starting the offense will always be centered around throwing the ball.

Again, the Packers will never feature a run heavy offense with Rodgers behind center.

There's no way to predict how Williams would adapt being moved to right tackle. Considering it would take a significant investment to acquire him I'm definitely opposed to the idea.

All I’m gonna say is this: if any of you were told before the season started that we would be 3-1 thru the first 4 games, every single one of you would have taken it without a second’s worth of hesitation. So tread lightly, PackerForum.
Smoke and mirrors. D was extremely overrated. Packers will be easy to beat by just running the ball. If these players have played this long and don't know how to tackle runners, there's no hope. No WRs other than Adam's. Aaron Jones, overrated. It will be an amazing achievement if this team finishes 8-8.

Anyone watching Jaire Alexander, Kenny Clark, the Smith's, Savage, and others during the first three weeks of the season and saying "eh... smoke and mirrors" has no idea what they're talking about.
