MVS has to use his HANDS to snatch that ball instead of waiting for it to reach his body. It was not an easy catch by any means and he very well may have been interfered with, but that's YOUR BALL. His lack of fight and toughness and his inability to make contested catches through contact are concerning.

Didn't we used to be able to stop the run not that long ago? And the secondary was the problem? When did that switch?

Signs of a weak run game defense showed up against Minnesota. A combination of facing a team with a pretty solid OL, as well as teams having plenty of film on our defense and its soft middle don't help either. Until they can fix it, teams with any kind of run game and a decent TE, are going to continue to attack it.

I was actually pleasantly surprised in both the Viking and Bronco game, that neither team continued to just pound the ball at us.

I'm a bit surprised at all the negativity towards Jimmy G in regards to this game and this game alone. Maybe its a hangover effect from how bad he has been in the past. Could he have caught the one TD pass? Maybe, but it wasn't a sure thing. He had 61 yards and a TD on 6 catches, I will take that every game from him.

I'm tellin' ya, he had no chance. It was as if the defender, Jones, had just applied a bear hug to him from behind. When the ball got there, his right arm was definitely impeded. Possibly both!

Just found this shot at The Athletic... You know how fast that ball caromed off of MVS? This is a split second after, before the INT. Look at how the defender, Jones, has both of MVS's arms locked. Should have been a PI call. But, NFL officials don't like making correct calls, or even trying to get them right.

I guess a dud for me would be the defensive playcalling. I'm a little surprised that Pettine did have them better prepared for the run.

Problem is, they are short a player or 2 or even 3. I think Pettine did what he could, with what he had. It was pretty obvious that he was trying all sorts of things in the box next to Martinez, but most of it failed. A solid Eagle OL took care of whomever he had playing on the DL and left an extra player to take out Martinez. This Defense is still short an ILB and a stud (or two) to put next to Clark.

I don't have the stats for the year, but appears to me, no offense is attacking the outside of the defense with runs and if they are, they aren't very successful. However, the middle of the Packers D is so soft, nobody is going to have to go outside to pick up yards. On the flip side, the Packers can't run the ball up the middle to save their lives and they know it, that was apparent in the last 2 drives.

It's STILL his fault that we lost
and had we won, you would have attributed the win to who?

Could Rodgers have played a little better? Maybe, but come on man, he has one weapon on Offense and that guy was on the sidelines for the last half of the 4th Q.

I'm not saying he wasn't interfered with. I'm saying he doesn't fight through things. Interfere right back if necessary

Well, Ric does have Flair....

On this WR thing, I'm hoping we get to see more from Shepherd. Geronimo did a fantastic job last night... MVS? He was interfered with, with no call on the sidelines throw. He was also interfered with, with no call on the TD attempt that was INT. Add those two as completions and MVS would have had a great night.

We can't be discrediting the WRs that made this 53 through good effort in their roster competitions just because they are untested, young, inexperienced. What good does that do? Essentially, it is pretty hard to say what we have altogether at WR, as we have yet to see Kumerow, Shepherd nor Lazard in a game situation. I thought they proved their mettle well in preseason. All three.

Rodgers blanketly dissed his young trio of WRs last year, and I'm surprised he was able to regroup on that and give them some confidence, build on those relationships. I seriously thought he was killing that last year, and could not understand why - other than his being massively frustrated. Maybe it was motivational speak from Rodgers...

Our Packers team was left in a bit of a shambles before Gutekunst took over, and he has filled the roster holes fairly well I would say. Yes, he's had his misses. We had that many holes to fill though, and hopefully he can get a couple of those addressed before the trade deadline.

Hey dude, I was thinking the exact same thing you were watching the game last night, and other games previous... We are on the same page. Just sharing what I saw. I agree he needs to fight for possession of the ball more. 2nd year player...

He isnt playing against a HS JV backup. I defy any WR from Jerry Rice to Randy Moss to catch a pass while being bear hugged. He would have to break the hug (DB has all the leverage) and extend his arms and catch the ball in about 0.2 seconds.

I just became eligible for Medicare and I am pretty sure that I would have had 100 yards rushing last night. The D looked hauntingly familiar - extremely porous. The special teams gave Philly life when they allowed them to reverse field position. Where did the pass rush go? Just an off night I guess. Bottom line - getting no points on 2 goal to go opportunities, a loss is inevitable and certainly inexcusable. Definitely think that MLF and his staff got schooled by Phillys staff but all they can do is learn from it.

My biggest gripe is why do they have a challenge for non penalty calls when they're not going to change it? IMO a blind man could see that PI.

If I had to summarize the loss in one word, I would say "Trenches". The Packers lost that game in the trenches on both sides of the ball. Philly may very well have a better OL and DL and were just too much for the Packers in the end because of it. Now the Packers have to walk away from the game and figure out how they get better in those trenches.

While this game was annoying to lose. Mostly because it was so dang winnable, and because the NFL & it's officials are once again making us all question what the hell PI is these days....

We're still 3-1. which I'm sure we all would have taken before the season kicked off.

Lets hopefully get healthy and solve some of the glaring issues with the team moving forward.

They lost in nearly every metric found in the loss column...

Lost the TO battle
Couldn't stop the run
Couldn't run the ball
Couldn't score in the red zone
Lost the field position battle
STs errors galore

Add in the Idiotic Officiating... Allowing Barnett to continue play was derelict. Imagine if he didn't cause that strip sack?

Dud: Schwartz

I was quite surprised by Schwartz' defense. He did a great job in Buffalo in 2014 and with Philly since, particularly that Super Bowl winning group. Good-to-great tough football with those groups.

These guys? By today's rules, we could label them dirty. It's not just the helmet hits, including against their own player. It's lots of high tackling around the head and neck, with some facemasks thrown in for good measure. Schwartz does not appear to have been reading the memos from the past few years.

Then again, Schwartz couldn't control Suh even when the rules were more lax. I guess you gotta go with what you got. In any case, this is not a championship defense; it pales in comparison to the Super Bowl team. The Packers got 8 first downs on penalties and it could have been more; you can't win consistently that way. Good luck, guys.

I observed the same thing in regards to the level of dirty play that the Eagles played at. Now I am all about energy and emotion, but some of the crap I saw last night made me think that most of the Eagles had gone to the "Suh Institute of Dirty Play". I love Alexander, but he is eventually going to get called for taunting, I just hope it doesn't happen at a critical point of the game. Play hard, play fast, play tough and with emotion, but leave the garbage for Waste Management.

Even McCarthy would probably have tried to run the ball at least once when they had it first and one to try and tie the game.

Had he run the ball twice and lost yardage or fumbled, I think people would probably be ripping on him today for trying that?

The Packers were getting stuffed at the LOS all over the field when they tried to run the ball. When the defense is standing in the endzone, they all are much closer to the LOS, making it even harder to pick up just one yard. IMO, given the Packers previous failures running the ball during the game, MLF made the right call not to try and run it in those situations, but he obviously didn't have the right passing plays called or enough skilled players to get it done.
