Got to chime in to agree the O-line was a group stud. I just rewatched the 4th quarter drive that ended in Jones' TD run (thx gamepass), just watching Linsley, Patrick, and Wagner on the right side -- mostly against Hicks. A couple games ago I was wondering if Patrick is really better on the right as opposed to the left, and OMG he handled Hicks that whole drive -- sometimes with help, tbf. On a couple plays, Wagner had Hicks and was less effective -- but damn, I'm on board w/Patrick at RG.

They mashed the hell out of him, doubleteam, on the TD. HAhaha, beautiful!

i wouldn't call favre's 1997 season (l0l) a freak qb performance, but maybe that's just me
rodgers 2020 performance was definitely that
I’m not arguing in favor of Henry... I’m just suggesting that a running back going over 2000 yards might garner some votes.

yeah, some votes sounds about right to me as well. but i don't think it would be possible to win unless the qb he was up against just put up a generally very good year. against what rodgers did this year, no way imo. but i am a homer, so...

MVS, that drop after his big TD catch is frustrating
King, I hate this low aim tackling with a shoulder. gives the WR a chance to dodge and even if you hit it often doesn't put the wr down.
Austin, poor fumble but only cost 3 points

Studs-
Rodgers - wrapped up MVP
Adams - set new receptions record
Turner - held up left side for the most part.
Alexander - hardly ever notice the guy. For a CB, that's a good thing
Barnes - 8 solo/6 assisted
Amos - a DB who can catch the football.

Duds-
MVS - cost the team 7 pts
King - cost the team 3 pts
Austin - cost the team 3 pts
MLF - not putting Dillon in the game plan. The guy is a weapon. They will need him in the playoffs.

DUD: @gbgary for saying last year's team was an overachieving 13-3 team, only for the team to finish 13-3 again. Also said a few weeks ago that the team was "overachieving" again like last year.
Can we add Ric Flair to this? He's been awfully quiet as of late.

Studs:

Rodgers - MVP...need I see more? This is his golden age, and he's as good as it gets

Adams - absolutely incredible year. He continues to impress has grown immeasurably over time, now is one of the best in the game.

Lucas Patrick - He nullified Hicks on the inside, super game on his part.

Jaire Alexander - becoming a shut down corner, had blanket coverage today in zone.

Kris Barnes - got nicked up but his motor ran hot today, very solid game in primarily zone calls

Duds:

Pettine - playing zone against Mitch Trubisky? This is the best he can do apparently.. zone worked but blitzing puts this game away earlier.

King - he has to learn to tackle in this league...how long has he been playing the game? If he can re-tool that he's a keeper in coverage.

Lowry - getting pushed and ran on most of the game.

Austin - costly turnover on the return, but the D held up even in zone.

All in all, I am seeing growth on the defensive side of the ball, even though zone play calling will not show anyone how good this D truly can be. Super season again. Rodgers and this offense is a machine when they get all tools into the arsenal. 1 seed and everything to play for and get to the big one....unfortunately with this d coordinator I am tentative due to his lack of vision giving every qb and team 5-7 yard plays on a regular basis. To me, Pettine is holding this team back unfortunately.

Didn’t Favre share one of his with Barry Sanders....?

If I'm not mistaken the voting that year was done before the last week of the season or at least a lot of voters cast their votes before the season was over. Sanders went over 2000 yards in the last game and I am convinced that had they waited he would have won it outright over Favre.

I could be misremembering but that has always been my recollection.

I honestly don't see anyone taking this one away from Rodgers. It was close between him and Mahommes until the end but his stats against the Bears should have cemented it. Henry might come in third now but there is no way he takes it. 2000 yards is great but its not like it hasn't been done before. Besides if they give it to Henry it will be destroy the narrative that RBs are simply not valuable contributors.

Yes, they gotta keep Patrick at RG.

I'm hoping by the Divisional round we'll see Snacks more than Lowry.

I'll re-watch the offensive snaps tomorrow, but yes it certainly seems like Patrick is much more comfortable at RG. He got his tail whipped at Carolina, but as long as he puts up strong output at RG, we good. Just need to keep what's left of the left side healthy.

I hope Derrick Henry wins MVP...as long as any packer on the 53 wins super bowl MVP.
Honestly though, Rodgers deserves this. He had a career season. But again, right now I’m 10x more interested in a Super Bowl than that. Rodgers hopefully is too.

If you watched the game you know who the studs and duds are. So who frickin cares. All that matters is #1 seed for now
You ok? You were looking forward to this game all week and now just like the Titan game, you don't want to talk about it?

Im thankful for how well this season has gone for the Packers, but see a video like this and can't help but wonder "Why the **** are our special teams so fooking bad?"

Rant over. :coffee:
