Couldn't give you a like because I'm not sure about the GPS thing. Maybe try it out in colleges for a couple years first. ;)
Or preseason games. The technology is there, they use the existing tracker to measure the speed of passes for stats. Foreword progress of a runner would be very easy to determine using the GPS tracker and a simple program. Can't tell you how many times a game I notice a casual poor spotting of the ball after a play. People don't seem to even notice it when it is only after a 1st or 2nd down play. The only time broadcasters bring it up is when it means a 1st down or a score. The tushpush has really highlighted the need. With all those bodies in there, super hard sometimes to see if the ball actually crossed the line to gain.

It has been said for as long as I can remember that "Football is a game of inches" and I agree. Now use the technology to make sure you have those inches correct.
