Another year of our younger players in Capers' defense, which demands veterans' experience, should help, particularly on giving up big plays. But with no impactful inside linebacker will hurt run stopping and over the middle pass protection. A middle of the road defense combined with a healthy Rogers should thrive, hopefully to Championship no. 14.

While some of the young starters on defense are more experienced this season the Packers will most likely rely on a rookie at nose tackle to replace a seasoned veteran as well as on another one to upgrade coverage out of the inside linebackers.

The defense is capable of finishing within the top 10 in points allowed which should be good enough to compete for another title.

[QUOTE="captainWIMM, post: 669926, member: 6794"There's no way the Rams finish ahead of the Seahawks in 2016.
[/QUOTE]

I wouldn't say "No Way." Unlikely yes, but it's not out of the realm of possibilities. The Rams have a nicely put together front 7. I expect there secondary to be improved. They have put together an adequate OL. They might have the best RB in the NFL. They have perimeter weapons at WR. Above all of this they might have there best QB since Kurt Warner. QB play IMO is what has held this franchise back. There move to L.A could also very well rejuvenate this franchise. I've heard reports they will pack 100k in for their home opener against Seahawks and they know how to beat Seahawks. "3-1 " in last four meetings.

With all that said I have seen reports that Goff isn't developed enough yet. I see some depth issues at several positions. Fisher has been building this thing for 5 years now but it took him similar time with Houston/Tennessee. Alike many others I wont take this team too seriously until they can show some consistency and put some weeks together. IMO they will go as far as Goff goes so they might be a year away. Well see but I would call them a "sleeper."

The Rams front seven is an elite unit and Gurley for sure is one of the best running backs in the league. Aside of those positions the team lacks talent everywhere else though and while Goff might develop into a decent pro QB at some point early reports suggest he's not close to being there already.

I stand by saying there's no way the Rams finish ahead of the Seahawks.

Do you realize in Seattle they don't even know who there starting 5 are gonna be along the OL? And now amongst everything else Michael Bennett is complaining about his contract and could turn into a Kam Chancellor situation quickly. Were talking about a team that's probably gonna go into the season probably starting 5-6 rookies.

I would call that a concern,

There's absolutely no doubt the Seahawks enter this season with a lot of question marks on the offensive line. They've been able to win with below average units over the last few seasons though so I don't see it resulting in Seattle struggling next season.

The Seahawks are a team that got away having a cap number of around a million dollars a year on a QB

I'm not gonna get into a "Seahawk talkathon" because I really don't believe there "relevant" anymore when talking about the Packers Super Bowl hopes.

All I will say here is what I see with the Seattle Seahawks. I see the Seahawks had spent $1.52 million for Wilson and backup Tarvaris Jackson as there "cap number" during Super bowl runs. Now I see a cap number of almost 19 mill alone just for Russell Wilson and it tops out at 23 mill in 2019. Good bye John Schneider, Pete Carroll and the Seattle Seahawks.

Yup Mr Schneider's bank is too broken to challenge the Packers right now. And if Seattle's units were below average last season, they'll be sackville bottom this year with teams blitzing the **** at them this year.

And as to the Panthers, not a chance they go 15-1 again, not even a 0.000001 chance.

The way the NFL is structured teams need players still on their rookie comtracts to perform on a high level. If one of those guys happens to be a quarterback even better.

The Seahawks have been able to maintain a talented roster despite having to pay several core players. Their offensive line is a major concern but the team will still be competitive and of the favorites to win the NFC.

And as to the Panthers, not a chance they go 15-1 again, not even a 0.000001 chance.

You realize that the Panthers don't have to win 15 games to be a contender in the NFC, don't you???

Schneider just extended his contract through 2021 (according to NFL.com) and now the focus is on extending Carroll. The cap is the same for every team and Schneider is a VERY good GM... I'm sure they'll make a lot of good decisions. I think the 'Hawks will be competitive for years to come so TT needs to keep finding NFL caliber players and jettisoning guys before they become a financial liability (O-line after this season).

Like the good decisions to trade away 1st round picks along with there best O-Lineman for Percy Harvin and Jimmie Graham? For example, would you rather have Ha Ha and DR or a gimppie Graham and no Harvin with tons of "dead money"? "Amazing decisions."

One of the main reasons this is a touchy subject with me is TT has been managing cap with a 20 mill QB cap hit for years now and yet he doesn't get enough credit sometimes. Let's see how Mr. Schneider does. It is my belief that TT has built the best 90 man roster in the league heading into 2016. Yes, better then the Seahawks. Well see how it plays out.

Good for the Seahawks and Scheider.

Every general manager in the league has made questionable decision but overall both Thompson and Schneider have done a terrific job.

You continue to talk about the Packers having the best 90 man roster in the league (like you did last offseason as well). First of all that doesn't matter once the season starts as only 53 make the final roster and in my opinion it isn't possible to truly evaluate the talent level of all 90 players by reading about offseason practices.

Yeah but our competition is a lot heftier for those 53 spots than most of these overhyped nonsense teams are out there.

I'm absolutely convinced you have no idea about that.

In addition hefty competition for the final roster spots doesn't mean the overall talent level on a team is any better than the one of any opponent.

To the contrary I've gone a lot deeper then reading about "off-season practices". I don't claim to the "Guru of evaluation" but there are certain things I do beyond for fun. For that matter I have evaluated all 32 teams to some degree. I think the 90 is very important when you consider injuries, surprises etc.

With that said I could see potentially anywhere between 2-4 UDFA's making this team. It's that competitive a field, We shall see.

As of right now every single team has only been through OTA and minicamp practices so far this offseason. Therefore it's impossible even for coaching staffs and especially for a fan following the league from in front of a computer to make a proper evaluation of the players on the bottom of the depth charts fighting for a spot on the roster.

With that being said I agree that the Packers have one of the most talented teams in the league but I'm not impressed with this year's UDFA class and as of right now don't expect any of them to make the 53.

Yeah and you didn't think Joe Thomas or Ladarius Gunter could make the roster either. Not sure where you stood on Pennel. I will tell ya right now I expect Josh Hawkins to make this team. I expect a battle between Banjo and Kentrell Brice. Another Battle between Beniquez Brown and Carl Bradford. Another battle between Crockett and Jackson that i expect Crockett to win. There is a log jam at WR but with maybe an injury and a certain guy not stepping up I could see a guy like Herb Waters slipping in there. Should be fun. If nothing else, these are all good practice squad candidates but write "Josh Hawkins" down.

Now you're making things up. I predicted Gunter and Pennel to make the roster last year and was right about Thomas as well as he was released by the Packers before being brought back during the season.

We'll revisit your prediction at the end if camp.

That should work as evidence for everyone that posters who proclaim to know a ton about the 90 man roster of most teams in the league actually have no idea about it at all.

Geez, . Give me a break. He just got waived. I've had Crockett as the 3rd RB all the way. Just saw a potential battle there.

I'm just tired of posters guaranteeing they know something for a fact about a prospect on the bottom of the 90 man roster when in reality they have no clue at all.

Nope. What your doing is blowing the whole thing out of the water because of one guy I was "hesitant about" and even already called Crokett two win the spot. With that said I still like Jackson. Watched him play a lot of ball at Nevada. Tough runner that gets pads down and gets going "down hill".

I gave you the guy I predicted and none of the others I posted would surprise me. Now if a guy gets hurt from some injury nobody saw coming then that happens. That's why the 90 is so important but you don't seem to get that.

Most of the guys on the bottom of the depth chart are camp bodies only but you don't seem to get that. We'll revisit this thread once Hawkins gets released.
