Any one offering me 20 points in games vs Seattle and Carolina, I'd jump all over that.

Judging by the Capt's post after this one, it looks like we've got a bet brewing. Different approached to that in other forums - what would you suggest as the wager?

An important thing to mention is that the Packers don't even play Carolina during the regular season in 2016.

Well, let's just say the eternal optimist in me envisions Carolina traveling up to Lambeau Field in January for Ice Bowl IV

** Ice Bowl I was the 1967 NFC Championship Game vs Dallas
** Ice Bowl II was the 1997 NFC Championship Game vs Carolina
** Ice Bowl III was that stinker 2007 NFC Championship Game vs NYG

It'll be 2017, right on track for Ice Bowl IV, and dare I say I think Cam Newton would absolutely stink in 0 degree weather, and we'd repeat the 1997 thrashing on these guys.

Well, the Packers defeated the Panthers in the 1996 NFC Championship game on their way to winning Super Bowl XXXI though. The following year they won at San Francisco to repeat as NFC champions.

As a side note, the Ice Bowl was the NFL championship game as the league hadn't merged with the AFL at that point yet.

Seem to recall the same thing about Vick a decade or so back.

I assume you're referring to the Atlanta Falcons of 2002 playoff game. That game had snow yes and winter conditions and all, but that was in no way any Ice Bowl game. Those 3 I mentioned there were subzero temps where you could see your breath way out in front of you.

There isn't any guarantee the temperature would be close to subzero for a playoff game at Lambeau this season. And while it might be true that Newton would struggle in conditions like that you have to realize that Rodgers is 0-3 during his career in games with the temperature below 10 degrees.

Maybe not, but I'd still stake our chances at being a lot higher to win bringing them up to the frozen tundra.

The Packers haven't had a huge advantage playing at Lambeau Field in the playoffs since Rodgers became the starter going 2-2 at home while having a 4-4 record on the road.

Including the first ever home playoff loss to Atlanta, 3-5 in home playoff games. The Lambeau mystique is dead.

The over/under is 10.5. I think that's a gift they hit the over barring major injury to Rodgers with this team and the way the schedule lays out. Not only has TT stocked the roster on offense with depth but I expect the defense to take another step in the right direction.

Agreed Brandon! 10.5 is a gift. You convinced me-I'm taking out a reverse mortgage on the house and going to Vegas.

There's absolutely no doubt in my mind that the Packers will at least win 11 games as long as Rodgers stays healthy. The offense has the potential to be elite, although the players will have to perform at a better level than last season for that to happen, and the defense is capable of finishing 2016 in the top 10 in points allowed.

So what? One team we've murdered during that time frame at home is Seattle, and Carolina ain't no better.

Water shortages and temperatures climbing regularly over 105 in the summer and only getting worse. Sure you wanna do that?[/
I do-have you seen that pathetic schedule? I went through it the first time and thought "who the hell is going to beat them?"

There's no doubt the Packers have been great at home during the regular season since Rodgers became the starter but we were talking about the team struggling at Lambeau Field during the playoffs. Green Bay defeating Seattle twice during the regular season during that period doesn't make a difference.

BTW I get that you hate the Panthers for whatever reason but last season they were better than the Seahawks.

Neither the Panthers or the Seahawks really scare me as long as we get em at home and our primary guys are healthy.

The Seahawks for example have serious OL issues. People can say they have had OL issues in the past and that's fine but I see "cumulative regression." At some point the pedal breaks. Also, that defense is suffering the same thing of sorts. They don't really have a proven replacement for Irvin and Browner who they brought in to add a "hybrid safety package" is facing possible DV charges. Graham is "cooked" and no Lynch. Rawls is coming back from reconstructive ankle surgery. There gonna need rookies to come in and start immediately and we all know how that process works. Lastly, Wilson cant carry it all by himself consistently IMO. I still see them as a competitive team but the 2012 hype train is over.

Carolina appears to have taken a step back on defense and as others have posted I see really no way Cam brings his show into Lambeau in a cold weather game if that match up presents itself. I would actually rather see Panthers then Seahawks for that matter.

Now as for us I really believe our roster is the best set up to sustain normal to moderate injuries and still "Win." With that said I will be holding my breath for a family night and five pre-season games.

Heh, I'd bet dollars to donuts that neither the Seahawks or Panthers are really scared of the Packers.

I really have a hard time understanding why a lot of posters aren't capable of giving credit to other talented teams. Both the Panthers and the Seahawks are one of the favourites to win the NFC, just like the Packers.

If Green Bay ends up facing one of them during the playoffs I expect the game to be a close one, no matter where it is played.

I stated "that I expected the Seahawks to be competitive." if you read the whole post. I am just pointing out that going into the season and when you really get down and evaluate 90 man rosters I see some serious question marks regarding the Seahawks. I see them needing several rookies to have to come in and not just contribute but "Start." They haven't had that problem in the past as much. There last two drafts haven't produced as much and they need this current one we just had to be a "home run" or its "Manana."

People can hype Russell Wilson up as an MVP caliber QB but I am not buying. With all this said the Seahawks are never an easy out. I just don't see the same caliber team right now that won the Super Bowl. Well see.

You have been predicting the Seahawks demise since they won the Super Bowl in 2013 yet they're still one of the best teams in the league.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not predicting they will win another title this year but Seattle is one of the favourites to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl and while the Packers shouldn't be scared of them they for sure have to respect their talent.
