I don't expect the Lions to compete for the division crown. The Packers will win the North by several games.

LOL nope, they'll be fight with Minn.
It's only week one. 15 more episodes of this show to go. And the Pack almost choked game one away

Not sure which part of the game you thought was a choke.

I'm still trying to figure out how they put up 21pts in the first half, but could only manage 6 in the second.

The Panthers lost their opener, but I think they will be our primary competition for home field advantage in the playoffs. That is, as long as Cam makes it through the season. He took some serious shots last week and needs to better protect himself if he wants to continue being a running quarterback.

I agree that Arizona and Seattle were both underwhelming yesterday and it sounds like Russell Wilson is already hobbled with a bad ankle. The Giants did look good and with Cruz back, Eli has some serious weapons. That being said, they barely beat a Cowboy team that started a rookie qb.

I expect the Vikings to challenge us for the division, even without Bridgewater. Their offense is a work in progress, but they're a well coached team and that defense will keep them in every game. I'll withhold judgment on the Lions until they play a team that plays some semblance of defense.

Which part? They almost lost at end. That's pretty basic logic.

Why did they almost lose?

Because they offense couldn't so much as muster a single first down, that's why. Pathetic.

The defense didn't choke.

Pay attention- they almost lost because the other team almost scored at the end. All your whys and wherefores don't mean crap if the Jaguars score.
The game was close. The Packers won't be dominating any division.
They have to play next week in the new Minn. Home. They'll be lucky to get out of there alive. Rodgers won't have a career day by any stretch.
Don't give me the crap that I'm not a Packers fan.im an adult who calls like I see it.

I agree with your last few lines, though I don't know what they have to do with anything. I said nothing to the contrary, to provoke any of it.

Good talk, though.

Yes, I'm not sure how you call "almost" letting another team score a TD a choke. Yes I was a bit displeased with the offense's 4th quarter production, but at the same time the D needed to show they could come up big when a stop was needed, and they did just that on the WR screen on 4th and short, not easy to defend. I love high scoring pass heavy offense attacks, but if we're going to get to the superbowl, this D has to show more of what it did yesterday, especially as the weather gets colder and playoffs time arrives.

The Lions looked pretty good yesterday. Respect your foe.

They did, and it'd be foolish to write them off with them putting up those kind of numbers without Megatron. I thought them losing him would mean a big downfall for Stafford who had a bad year last year, but in all honesty their O actually looked better without Megatron. It's true, the Colts' D was ravaged by injuries with more piling up yesterday, and wasn't even very good to begin with. But I'd say be careful before calling the Lions' O bad, it's changed its philosophy quite a bit since Jim Bob ****** took over.

The Lions played a team without a defense in week 1. I won't consider Detroit a threat to the Packers as long as they don't defeat a decent team.

There's absolutely no reason to further discuss with you, a Vikings troll not even capable of admitting being a Minnesota fan.

Even though the Cardinals and Seahawks (depending on Wilson's health) both played disappointing in week 1 I still consider them to be a challenger for home field advantage. On the other hand I don't expect the Vikings to compete for the division crown.

The Colts defense is absolutely terrible. Detroit putting up 39 points against that unit doesn't have me impressed at all. If the Lions offense continues to perform on a level like that I will change my mind though.

The Cardinals ... it's still early there, but Carson Palmer is inconsistent and has had patterns before of following up great years with mediocre years, could be one of them again this year. The Seahawks, if they can't hardly even beat an awful 4-12 bound dolphins team at home, they aren't challenging anyone for anything. Hell I bet they get murdered in San Fran if that O-line of theirs keeps looking like that and with how well Gabbert seemed to play in Chip's system last night.

I wouldn't put too much stock into week 1 performances.

Week 1 is always weird. The 49ers absolutely destroyed the Viks last season and we all know who won the NFC North. Look at the 2014 Pack, we started out that year cringingly at 1-2, and then went on to be 12-4. The identities of teams start forming a couple weeks in.

So week 2 is here and these games are going to be very fun, gonna have to get NFL Redzone fired up and tune in:

Not paying much attn. to Thursday's game, but skipping to Sunday:

49ers @ Panthers could be a huge one - A real litmus test on the road for Kelly's 49ers. Certainly they aren't the favorite to win this, but if they did ... well the Panthers wouldn't be out of the running for their division title by any stretch, but it could certainly knock em way down from any number 1 seed hope, and if you're a team that's supposed to be the NFC darlings, you really can't start 0-2 without losing a big head of confidence. Talking points certainly change if that happens.

Titans @ Lions - Might have to keep an eye on Detroit here. Certainly the Titans are a team that they should be expected to beat, but getting to 2-0 might boost Detroit's confidence up pretty high.

Chiefs @ Texans - These 2 teams met in the playoffs and it was a lopsided affair. This one should be much closer and could have big playoff seeding implications. X-factor could be whether or not JC sees the field.

Saints @ Giants - Was a pretty high scoring affair last year with almost all offense and no D. Gotta think the Giants are probably favored to win this at home and with a D that has been improved some over last year, but expect some fireworks in this one. Saints have talent but you gotta figure they can't afford to start 0-2.

Bengals @ Steelers - Looks like another year with this series being the division winner decider.

Redskins @ Cowboys - Both teams really need the win here, maybe the Redskins more so. I just gotta think after being completely embarrassed last Monday and coming off a short week, if they lose this game Jay Gruden's probably going to lose the locker room much quicker than if not and his days in DC will be numbered. And Kirk Cousins' rope will get all that much shorter too.

Buccaneers @ Cardinals / Falcons @ Raiders - Listed these games jointly because the Bucs and Raiders both could end up starting the season 2-0, for the Bucs a rare achievement only accomplished 4x in the last 20 years, once in 1997, 2000, 2005, and 2010. For the Raiders, they haven't gone 2-0 since 2002, the last time they won the AFC West and got to the Superbowl with Rich Gannon. I'd certainly expect the Cards to be on their A-game this week after a disappointing home opener and Tampa Bay will certainly get tested bigger than they were against Atlanta last week, but Jameis Winston certainly is starting to become big in Tampa. Looks to be a great matchup in Oakland between Carr and Cooper against Ryan and Jones.

Seahawks @ Rams - The homecoming for LA and Jeff Fisher is going to have to clean up that mess he took to SF in a hurry this week. Over the last few years the Rams have been a kryptonite in Seattle's side, and the Hawks looked bad at home against the phins last week, but the Rams are gonna have to find some magic quick here and hope they can give their new fans something to cheer about.

Colts @ Broncos - It's just such a crazy phenomena that whenever you see the battle of the horses here, somehow the Colts always come out on top, no matter who's QBing for them. Obviously the rivalry has changed a little now that Peyton will not be on the field for either team, but it's going to be a big one. The Colts' D got more battered with injuries last week and is going to have to do better against Seimien and Anderson if they hope to win. But I certainly expect the drama to build here.

Then of course, 2 top-notch prime time games with us at Minny and Philly at Chicago, lotta things we're going to find out this week.

A win v.s. Minnesota would put us in a prime position to get to 13-3.

The next two games after this Sunday have me mildly concerned about a potential trap game. Detroit at home, even though they did play the pitiful Colts defense, and the Giants on Sunday Night after the bye. I think the Giants are going to be lethal especially after a few tune up games.

But if we can get through the first 4 games at 3-1 or maybe even 4-0, we could potentially have home field wrapped up by week 15.
