I don't know if the playcalling got passive or if MN bottled up #17 and we didn't have another WR get open consistently enough.
What’s intriguing about that statement and how quickly we forget. We all recall the R-E-L-A-X season where we went 4-6 to start and finished 10-6. We all panicked after a mid season skid. But one guy not only didn’t panic, he made us all eat crow.

Never stop believing in #12. All we need him to do is get in that 27 average points range and we’re going to give teams absolute fits. That’s not only possible, but completely doable by mid season. In the meantime, let’s put a few more in the W basket and quit worrying if it’s going to go in “swish” or “off the backboard”. A basket counts either way.

We don’t need to win fancy, we just need to win.

Mid Season? Yee who have no faith. All we have to do is score 50 against the Broncos and we are right there! ;)

Lost in the shuffle of the last 2 games, although I am sure someone has mentioned him as a stud, is Bryan Bulaga. When healthy, he has to be viewed as one of the better RT's in the NFL. Obviously, its been tough keeping him fully healthy. He didn't give up any sacks against the Bears (Mack and Floyd) or the Vikings (Hunter). Pretty impressive for a guy many were expressing their desires to see cut this year.

I haven't seen anything yet but has there been any word on if Gary had any pressures during the game? I know he had more snaps and, according to McGinn, he's just lining up at 7-technique and rushing the QB. I don't want to comment on his lack of tackles/sacks during his snaps without knowing if he generated any pressures.

Aside from that though, Savage is looking like an absolute beast of draft pick in the first round and Gute's additions in free agency are looking to be spot-on.

The gameplan going in seemed to be terrific but it appeared as though the Vikings were able to make adjustments and LaFleur wasn't able to counter those adjustments.

I noticed that as well and was a bit concerned that it was a sign of MLF either being out coached or the Viking players just playing much better on defense. Harrison Smith is an absolute beast, I hate the guy! :coffee:

In his presser, Rodgers credited Mike Zimmer for the Packers getting shut down, so that would indicate more toward the out-coached option. McCarthy took a lot of criticism for his lack of adjustments, so it's a little frustating that MLF wasn't able to come up with an answer. Although they did move the ball enough to win, thanks to our stingy D.

I don’t know why this reminded me of the Pink Panther with Steve Martin and him thinking someone was hiding behind the Curtains?

Well to be fair Zimmer definitely has a lot of experience and success in regards to keeping The Packers' offense at bay (no pun intended) and this is the second week, so I'm sure Matt will get better as he goes. Zimmer's defense always gives us fits, and in truth we had a few opportunities to score but we made mental errors whether by turnovers, or penalties.

You make a good point. If this D keeps it up, the team will win most games where they score 27 or 28 points. Now it’s a long season, and injuries will occur, but the answer to that is depth and coaching.

Rodgers seems content to not have to be THE guy for every game. This O will get untracked. Someone behind Adams in the WR corps will emerge as the #2 guy, probably MVS.

So let’s all R-E-L-A-X.

He certainly channeled his inner Jay Cutler on that INT. Maybe we have a new team MVP who isn’t even on the time.

I mean a high school QB would not have made that throw.
Funny you should say that, after that interception I turned to the guy that I went to the game with and said something similar like "When did the Vikings sign Cutler?"

Not ready to do the artwork just yet, but I can see where we may need to add a 5th, if this continues. *waits for a Viking fan to bring up last years games*

Game One:

35/48 425 4 TD's 1 int.

Game Two:

29/38 342 3 TD's

Set those stats aside for now, still a worthwhile project to prepare for. :D

Yeah I miss Cutty but Cousins will do. Geez the Vikes, to this point, must be having some buyer’s remorse on Cousins. $84 million guaranteed for a journeyman. Then again, he didn’t have a record of wining big games when he was in DC.

Bulaga has been mostly dominant in pass pro. he absolutely stoned Mac and the others on several occasions. if he stays healthy and continues this level of play for the entire season, he's going to make a very tough decision for the front office in the off-season.

stats lie. They were much better in week 2 than in week 1 and it showed in offensive production. But Week1? Give me a ****ing break. you have to be blind to think the offensive line was remotely adequate that game. someone was getting whipped on almost every play, and badly. Coupled with not being able to run the ball. It was great LOL

It has generally been true for quite a while that Rodgers has been making the OL look a lot worse than they are. Last year, 45 of 49 sacks of Rodgers came after 2.5 seconds. He holds the ball too long.

Even against the Bears, at least two of the sacks were straight up on Rodgers. I timed them all. Granted, hand timing isn't perfect, but I erred on the quick side (i.e. going with the lower numbers). This is what I came up with.

Sack 1: ~4.5 seconds
Sack 2: ~2.3 seconds
Sack 3: ~2.7 seconds
Sack 4: ~2.8 seconds
Sack 5: ~4.5 seconds

Sacks 1 and 5 are easily on Rodgers. If an OL protects for 4+ seconds against an elite front on the road, you can't blame them for a sack.

Sack 2 is definitely on the the OL-- specifically Billy Turner, who got wrecked by Khalil Mack.

Despite it being a quicker sack, I put #3 on Rodgers who had a an open hot read off of the blitz. He looked at it, didn't pull the trigger, and dropped his eyes. When a team overloads a side with a blitz, you have to hit your quick read and make them pay.

Sack #4 is the most borderline to me. This would be the bull rush on Bakhtiari. Graham, the outlet, stumbled out of his stance and wasn't presenting a clear target in a timely manner. Without all-22, I can't see what the receivers are doing. I'll put this one on Bakhtiari.

So even in that game, against that front, I think 3/5 sacks are clearly Rodgers' fault. He's holding the ball too long, egregiously so in some cases, and making his line look a lot worse than what it is.
