I was worried they might call a tuck rule. Maybe they changed that?

I think they modified that a bit and even if they had declared it was a pass, it was thrown/fumbled backwards, making it a live ball.

BTW, in case nobody mentioned it, that "roughing the passer" call on Alexander during the 49'ers final TD drive, was complete nonsense. I have watched that play over and over and he started his tackle before Jimmy G released the ball AND he actually tried to relax his body and let up on the tackle.

Did he go out with a concussion?

Not confirmed but 100% went into concussion protocal which means they had enough indicators to believe he should not play rest of game and will have to go through additional protocal

Great game for the Pack, but I can see why the 49'ers have basically given up on Garoppolo. He missed some wide open targets last night and really seems to have pretty poor pocket presence. All that said, the Packer defense also played much better for most of the game, so that's a good sign.

Also, have to say that its nice to finally have a punter that is doing his job and nobody is talking much about him because of it.

The biggest compliment a punter can get is for no one to ever mention his name. If the punter isn't coming up in a lot of discussion, then everything is going fairly well. That said, Bojo has been phenomenal. Insane upgrade from Scott.

I want to thank the Packers for proving me wrong at least for the time being. 1 regular season game win does not a SB champion make but that win gives me a real boost. I had expected to not give a damn about this season but I must admit that game got my juices stirred up again. That looked like a totally different team tonight. Gotta believe that the coaching staff is doing something right. Still a lot of questions to be answered but for now at least, very exciting. I still have to see more from #12 especially attitude wise. Maybe too many bridges have been burned for me to forgive and forget. My stubborness is a witch.

I don't think 12 has a problem with his teammates, GB or his coaches. His issue is further up the food chain...

I've also heard Bojo is a little bit of a past athlete....fakes back on the table. Scott was like a veggie straw built "man"...Bojo not so much.

I have had my share of ref gripes, but to not call that penalty on the Adams hit, which IMO should have been flagrant, and unsportsmanlike, and then call one of the most ticky tack roughing the passer calls on Stokes, is one of the main reasons I believe the league should consider challenges to certain calls like that
I'm hoping the league fines that defender and/or suspends him even tho no flag was thrown on that hit.

If he continues like this, the trade was an absolute steal. More than worth the pick swap.

Duds - The officiating crew

The non-call on the intentional grounding before the end of the 1st half was outrageous. Completely inexcusable unless the refs are on the take.

Did the SNF announcers ever come back to that egregious non-call? Did they run that by their in-house official? I skipped the halftime and missed the beginning of the 3rd quarter. Collinsworth knew it was a bad call but the 49ers scored and then NBC went to break before he could say more. It 100% cost the Packers 7 points and needed to be discussed. Outrageous!
I don't think those announcers said anything about the obvious lack of flagging on that grounding play.

I am not moving off of my line of OL and Crosby being the bonafide studs...but I gotta mention the trench guys on DL as well. Clark was exploding or controlling the middle nearly every snap and dear lord folks there was life in Lancaster last night as well. Good signs and man the run defense was awesome against a tough match up.

There really hasn't been anything said that I could add. Regardless, I'm going to say it anyway because I like talking football.

Studs:
Oline: They won the night for me. I thought they were going to get eaten alive.
Defense: They put way more pressure on Jimmy G. than I thought they would. Preston Smith was a big part of that.
Rodgers, Jones, Adams, Crosby...

Duds:
Kick coverage again. It gets old watching big returns against us. I just don't get why we can't figure that out.
That's really all I have. I know we gave up 28 points, but I thought it was a well played game.
Why we don't ALWAYS just kick it out of the end zone every time is puzzling to me.

I still don't like the Barry hire, but there were some promising returns last night. He should definitely get a little bit of benefit of the doubt. The Saints was bad, the Lions was bad for a stretch and then started clicking in the 2nd half, and last night was a solid effort all around.

I'm at least going to be fair toward him.

Studs:

Crosby-so reliable
Rodgers-1st half/final drive, some shakiness between
Adams-He's different
MVS-developing hands
O-line-I expected the youngsters to get devoured
Quick passing game to protect them
Preston Smith/Dean Lowry/Clark-Pass rush?
Campbell had a solid game
Stokes-some really tough calls, technique looked solid

Duds

Letting the play clock run down, wasting timeouts. Play with some tempo/get them on their heels

Throwing three straight incomplete bombs with a lead in the 4th to go 3 & out. Run once? Or at least a quick high-percentage rhythm throw?

Zone coverage

Me for this comment...
Why we always let the play clock run down every time drives me crazy.

I thought Rodgers was excellent last night.

For most of the game, he mixed some absolutely insane passes with inexplicable misses. But he wasn't holding the ball unnecessarily, and he was nails when he simply had to be.

Given the personnel, I thought the offensive line played very well.

What blew me away was the DL! Clark was good, as you'd expect, but Lancaster and Lowry were both really good. I did not expect that.

I love the way the DB's crashed on stuff underneath and contested. They also generally tackled very well, outside of Kittle who specializes in making you suck at tackling.

Honestly, the Packers were dramatically better than the 49ers last night. If they didn't need to beat the refs too, it would have been a 2+ score victory.

If any 49er fans are lurking, please know-- your team sucks, they were pathetic, and even with all help the officials could give you, you still lost.

I had thought he was doing much better with that in the first half. Seemed like a lot of times there was 4 to 6 seconds left on the clock.

I honestly don't think Crosby can do that every time. And so our special teams coach needs to do a better job with assignments imho.

They didn't mention it as far as I know but could it have been called because he left his feet. It wasn't a pure launch, more like a jump and off to the side at that, but I wonder if that might have had something to do with it. A DL had a much worse hit later and it wasn't called.

Lowry had a much worse one IMO, but neither deserved it IMO - however I'm the rare GB fan that even hates it when they call it when Rodgers gets hit sometimes too. I despise the call nearly 80% of the time, unless it is against Suh...then of course they're never wrong LOL

The great news, we found out last night that Crosby DID NOT attend the "JK School for Tackling!" Although San Fran ended up scoring, that was a great tackle on Crosby's part, had it been Scott, return man is in the endzone.

The whole O line - studs, even if they weren't perfect. Raise your hand if you thought they could do this as a unit against that SF front.

That's a really good point.

No Bahk, no Jenkins,...no problem.

Nijman impressed. Ditto the two rookie starters.

Plain and simple it was a terrible call in my opinion. Even worse than the one against Z Dog.

Most of the things I wanted to come up have been posted by now but there's one thing I haven't read so far.

I don't know who is to blame for it but there's absolutely no excuse for taking the field with 7:48 left in the game, up by three points, with a chance to put the game away with a drive eating up a lot of time but instead throwing deep three times in a row to give the Niners the ball back with only 30 seconds off the clock.

Overall, the Packers played a pretty good game but in my opinion are throwing the ball too deep on too many occasions.
Thats exactly what I thought. Just my opinion but I think the second and third were Rodgers being pissed at the hit on Adams so he was trying to prove something.
