We often hear players or their agents saying "we had no idea they were even interested" after a guy is drafted. In some cases I am sure that is partly because the team doesn't want to tip their hand but in some cases I'm sure it is partly because with some players there really isn't any question. If a GM is sold on a guy why waste time with an interview either at the combine or the pro day or through an invite.
IMO there are two reason to interview players. One is to throw others of the track by making them think you are interested in players you are not interested in and the other is to answer questions you have about that player. If you are interested in a player and you have no nagging questions there is no reason to waste time with an interview.
Devante Adam's after being drafted.
Reporter "Did you have a formal interview or any idea the Packers were interested in you?"
Devante Adam's "I never had any communication or ever talked to the Packers"
