Gute looking for 'bigger guys' to play a prominent role at slot WR

What I see is Davante as the #1 and 6 WR's that all will be battling for spots in camp. I am not including Trevor Davis because I feel if he does make the team or impact this season, it would be as a return man.

8 WR's and one more most likely added in the draft. I don't know what is "optimistic" about saying it will be a loaded position group in camp? I look forward to the camp battles. Should be fun!

The Packers have enough quantity at wide receiver but there are question marks about the quality of the group.

Lazard is a camp body. Great size but isn’t separating from anybody. I’d like count on Moore to have less concentration lapses but not banking on it. We are far from set at WR and will need to add some compitition.
Gute is quite high on Lazard and you don't sign camp bodies during the previous season. Gute signed Lazard from Jags last season. I guess you didn't see Lazard play at Iowa State if you are implying he is garbage. Cool story though:tup:

I like the group. Will most likely like it even more after the draft.

If you are one of the people that feel the Pack has Davante and no one else at WR then I disagree with you. And I'm ok with that.

I don’t think he’s garbage at all. He had a nice college career. He is a big that uses his body well but the NFL is a different animal.

Sorry if I mistook that as you implying he is garbage.

The Packers signed Lazard on December 18 with the team already being assured of missing the playoffs. While he might end up making the roster Gutekunst signing him late last season doesn't change the fact that he's a long shot to be on the 53 in week 1.

I don't think the Packers have nothing else at receiver than Adams but the team needs to add a slot receiver and at least one of the youngsters has to significantly improve this season. In my opinion the receiving corps is definitely not loaded at this point.

At 6'-5", 227 lbs I think Lazard is being looked at as a receiving TE rather than WR. Hopefully there's a coach on staff to teach both Lazard & Tonyan the nuances of TE route-running and both turn into seam threats with their speed.

Nope. Gute is high on Lazard as a WR. Gute just likes big WR's.

EQ is 6'5 220 as well.

MVS 6'4 211

This could work and give him a much better chance to make the roster.

He’s a body in camp that won’t make the final roster...? Lol all I meant to say was he’s going to have a hard time making any NFL roster if he can’t separate.

You might be into something with this.

Most of you didn't even know Lazard was on the team until I told you. Now you are telling me he is being looked at as a TE.

I know the game for some of you is to try and discredit every post I make somehow because I "rub you the wrong way", but it's getting old now. Js. :whistling:

Guys, don't upset him. How will we know who is on the roster if he's not here to tell us?? It's not worth it.

I don’t think anyone is trying to discredit you. It’s a simple opinion.

If he thinks that we don't even know who is on the roster without his insight, then I am definitely trying to discredit it. And it seems like it's going to be a lot of fun.

Yea, probably not the smartest thing to say to a bunch of Packer Die bards.

He's a former UDFA who was signed off a practice squad when things got thin at the position and he has 1 catch for 7 yards to his name in the NFL. You don't know **** about who Gute is "quite high on."

Slow down, self-annointed genius boy... you're not the only one in this forum who reads the transaction reports daily. You weren't even on this forum when he signed so don't try to BS that you're "the only one" who's ever heard of him. Sheesh, try a little modesty on for change. smh

Never said I was "the only one" of anything.

You said he is being thought of as a TE because he is 6'5 227. Gute has proven he likes big WR's and Gute signing Lazard last year was more proof of that. His comments after signing him were glowing and that he did have thoughts of him during and after the 2018 draft.

Gutekunst's actions indicate that he was higher on Moore, MVS and EQ though.

Yup. What's your point? I like all those guys better too. Lazard is also a WR that he sees potential in and whenever he got him is pointless. The point is he likes him.

Are you implying Gute signed Lazard because he thinks he sucks or has zero chance to help the team?

Once again, Gutekunst signed Lazard to have him compete for a roster spot in 2019. It's a long shot he ends up making the 53 though.

PS: You desperately need to find a way to relax a bit.
