studs:
-free agency
-mike pettine
-69

duds:
-that weird mccarthy era sequence on our last offensive drive
-we probably need some wide receivers

another stud:
when is the last time you saw this team SMILE??

:) :) :)
And I'd like to add Jimmy Graham. This was the first time that he showed up for us when he needed to.

The defense was amazing, in my now 7th season being a Packer fan it was a given that the D was gonna crumble with the game on the line. NOT ANYMORE! It's almost 6 am here now, but I am happy to have stayed awake to see the birth of this impenetrable wall! GPG

PS: For anyone hating the offense, yes it was a poor showing. But it was the first game under MLF, away, at the best D of last season. A lot of our players are still wet behind their ears. Give it time, they will be better.

The win was good but this team is nowhere near good enough to make the playoffs and win the Superbowl. Offense needs to get back to 2011 form for that to happen.
We just beat many pundits SB pick. In their house. On our offenses first game with a new system. Our defense outplayed what many consider the best defense in the NFL.

I would think that was a good thing.

Major duds: Every single person here who predicted a Bears win tonight! Told you we'd win! And I told you guys I would call you guys out! XD
If I would have told you before the game that the Packers would score only 10 points, there isn’t a chance in hell you would have projected a victory. The Packers escaped with a win tonight thanks to one of the best defensive efforts I’ve seen in years from this team.

If I needed to choose, I choose D to show up. Aaron and offense will find their way. Seeing the defense ball out was a great first step.

Offenses get beat by better offenses (see La rams 2018). Defenses get beat by themselves.

This is a nice start. Take it.

If you told me Chicago would only score 3 points, hell yeah I would! Nothing's for certain, that's why you got take the leap of faith. And it paid off tonight!

Like I said leading up to this game.

I'll take The Packers until the day I die! Packers for life!

I feel cautiously optimistic about the defense. It'll have to prove itself against more capable quarterbacks, but there were a lot of positives tonight. And the last time this team had a top ten defense, it won the Super Bowl.

In keeping with tradition....

Studs:

Packers Defense: While the Bears offense isn't that good, the Packers defense actually tackled and forced Trabinsky into throwing the ball hurried. Tackling was spot on.

Amos....easy interception, but he read the play and made itl

Rodgers: For staying calm and taking what the Bears defense gave him.

Pettine: Using the right guys at the right time.

Duds: Packers run game. This isn't going to win games.

Offense, 1st game, on the road, new coach against a legit D. I'll take the stumble. Work in progress to be determined. I'm not going to say the D is the love child of the 85 Bears/00' Ravens team, but there are signs they are vastly improved. Bears fans better hope the Packers D is legit otherwise MT has regressed horribly.

Not real impressive predicting a victory when you plan to predict one every time lol.

Studs: Defense Take a bow! You guys are the MVP of tonight.
Shout out to Savage, Martinez, and Amos (how fitting)
Graham with the TD it felt good to see him catch that TD considering how much crap he's been getting.

Duds: Offense has been rather sloppy, but I'm gonna give them the benefit of the doubt due to the Bears defense being stellar. On top of that this is the first game. We could've scored a on a few drives if not for a few bone headed penalty calls. Rodgers was off, but I imagine he'll improve.

Not the prettiest win, but our boys showed toughness tonight. It's nice to see the defense bail out the offense considering how many times it's been the other way around.

On a side note if you guys want a laugh, go over to The Bears forum. They are a pissed!

This will be overlooked by a lot of fans. While I certainly would have like to have seen more from them they were playing one of the best defenses in the league. Its the fifth preseason game that just happens to count. When all is said and done I'm glad to come away with the win. I'm very happy to see that the defense might be as good as we hope it is and I am going to cut the offense a little slack because of the things you said.

MVS led the receivers with 4 catches and 52 yards (?)

Sorry, just interjecting some stats. Continue to be angry.

Yes but they were 4 invisible catches for 52 invisible yards.

I"m definitely no Mitch Tru***** fan, he's limited. But even so, we put on good and steady pressure much of the night with contain. One thing he can do is run, and we pretty much put pressure without opening escape lanes for him. And when he did complete a pass, we didn't give them anything else. Guys were running with their guys and making tackles. We had a couple tipped balls, this D is going to create more TO's.

Even though I don't believe in the Bear's offense, this defense did well on their own accord. They were making plays

Studs: David Bakhtairi - he showed his pro bowl billing by showing up Mack at times..bravo
Amos - pick sealed the deal
Z. Smith - clay who? he is a weapon
MLB - did a nice job in contain
Savage - this guy is for real. sweet play and coverage
Scott - punter used what he had in a very effective way
Tramon Williams - crafty vet using smarts on big plays
Alexander- he negated the 1 from having a huge impact
olb's no cohen killer - no clay no slow - no overunning the play - kept contain and stuffed him and the short passing game. vvn
MVS - nice catches and kept the O from looking anemic

Duds: Rodgers - happy feet and nervous---looked like the Majik man, are our WRs that bad, get in the game, u looked like David Whitehurst
LaFluer - challenging a ridiculous play....not switching TE's and showing what we have
Lane Taylor - never mind.....sucked
Bulaga - same
Allison - invisible
Trevor Davis - return only - sucked

All in all, beautiful win! this is something to build on go pack!

I laughed my *** off when the NBC announcers were talking how good a Bears D-lineman was because he ran right through Lane Taylor.

Lane Taylor.

Catching some player interviews, lots of US,WE, and coming together . Also, get back to work to get better for next week.

It’s a sign the coach has them on the right page.

I had to keep reminding myself throughout the first half that this wasn't a preseason game. Sloppy NFL Week 1 football we've come to know and love.

I'm not going to restate all of the obvious notes on the defense other than to say all of the new guys looked pretty good. Great team effort. They'll be stepping up the QB food chain next week so we'll see what kind of follow through they can put up.

The special teams crew, not just Scott, should get a shout out. Other than T. Williams blindside block penalty, it was a clean game. Scott might be the game MVP. If he doesn't get a game ball or a gold plated shoe or something there is no justice.

Raven Greene took every snap or close to it tonight, and I believe every snap at #2 ILB when there was one. He looked pretty good. Burks may have trouble getting his job back. Maybe base D for him.

I gotta say the O-Line play was pretty rough. Bakhtiari and Taylor had 4 holding calls combined all last season; 3 in this game. Turner had a rough start then seemed to settle in. The run blocking was a bit of a mess. Sure, it was the Bears front 7, but they gotta do better than this.

For the record, I hate the 3-man rush, then, now and forever.

A win is a win is a win.

As bad as our offense was, Lane Taylor and Billy Turner are awful. Two big SLOW guards who couldn’t move anyone smh. Idk how long they plan on keeping Jenkins on the bench.....but I hope Rodgers is still able to play when they make that move. Idk what they saw in Turner Anyways

On another note I’m happy for the defense. It’s been a long time since they actually been able to consistently stop someone. Once those takeaways start piling up, skies the limit!!
