No need to worry about the Lions, they are calling Stafford's injury a six week injury. Why they just won't put him on IR I don't know; are they holding out hope that they can go 10-5-1? The Cowboys will put them at 3-6-1 and they can just go ahead and mail it in. If anything just go ahead and tank for draft position is their best play. Right now they're looking at a Top 10 pick, any more wins they push closer to 15th.

Personally, I'm quietly rooting for the Vikings because I'd rather have them or the Cowboys in the Divisional. I would like an "easier" opponent that should make for a guaranteed ticket to the NFCCG while two heavyweights slug it out on the other side. The only team I'd want to see in the Divisional is the Saints, but that's ONLY if we're the home team as I fully expect them to go flat in a primetime matchup Saturday/Sunday night in Lambeau.

I'm a little torn. For whatever reason (and there are many), I've always hated the Cowboys - even more than the Bears and Vikings. So I'm always wanting to see them fail. On the other hand, we seem to have had their number lately, and the Eagles pushed us around earlier in the year. So if the Eagles win the east, we might face them in the playoffs instead, and I'm not sure which would be better for us.

I`m curious.....The Cowboys are always described as "Americas team" yet apart from people from Dallas, everybody seems to hate them. Why ? apart from the obvious reasons. Asking as Brit.

I think that has pretty much become an old "moniker" and not what most NFL fans feel or use anymore. Kind of like calling the Western US, "The Wild West".

The nickname originated with the team's 1978 highlight film, where the narrator (John Facenda) opens with the following introduction:

"They appear on television so often that their faces are as familiar to the public as presidents and movie stars. They are the Dallas Cowboys, "America's Team"."

This is probably closer to what many think of the players Jerry Jones has assembled through the years:

I hate to admit it, but generally speaking the Cowboys probably are the most popular NFL team. They've fallen off some since they haven't won a Super Bowl in awhile now, but they're still very popular. If they win a Super Bowl, Cowboy fans will be coming out of the woodwork. It's pretty well known the Cowboys are the most valuable franchise (money-wise) in all of sports - not just the NFL. But they're not just popular in Dallas, there are Cowboy fans nationwide. Then they got that America's Team nickname back in the '70s.

In the national media, the Cowboys probably get more coverage than any other team. If you look at the players who get picked to become commentators, there are more than their fair share of Cowboy players there: Aikman, Romo, Sanders, Irvin, Jimmy Johnson.

So there's a backlash against that. Whenever something gets popular or successful, there are people who are going to hate it. They still have the record for most consecutive seasons .500 or better. People got tired of them, sort of like how some people hate the Patriots today.

Also, a lot of their teams have had a lot of swagger to them. Players like Michael Irvin, Deion Sanders. More backlash. And of course a lot of their fans were pretty arrogant, you can hear it in their catchphrase "How 'bout them Cowboys!".

For me personally, I remember being a kid in the '70s. The Packers weren't good any more, and the Cowboys were in it every year. Annoying kids coming to school in their Cowboy jackets. So I hated them to begin with, but it got even worse: In the '90s they had some of the best teams ever, they won the Super Bowl three out of four years, and the Packers couldn't get past them. Favre lost every game in Dallas. When we finalliy broke through and got to the Super Bowl ourselves, we didn't have to face them, the Panthers had knocked them off.

This bye week just got REALLY interesting. The Falcons are sticking it to the Panthers, and with the Vikings down to the Broncos that means the Wildcard is WIDE open. I'm assuming the Eagles lose to the Patriots, and Dallas should hold on to the Lions(gets VERY interesting if they don't). I'd like the Bears to edge the Rams to make them both 5-5, as again I'd prefer them over a high powered offense that may get clicking any moment, although there's rumors that the league has figured McVay out. Keep in mind however, that Nagy is running gimmicks of his own to make Trubisky effective.

Let me add one more annoying thing about the Cowboys, since you got me on a rant. Back in the '90s, they won eight straight games over the Packers, and the last seven of those, every one of those were in Dallas. It seemed like we might have had a chance if we could have played them in GB, but the schedule always put us in Dallas. It really irritated me. They knocked us out of the playoffs three straight years, of course it was always in Dallas because they had a better record than we did

Texas Stadium always threw Favre off. He said it bugged him because the field sloped downward on each side of the 50 yard line to drain water. Probably just an excuse, but it became like a psychological thing for him. It also didn't help that Dallas simply had a better team.

But wow did I get tired of the Packers always having to play in Dallas.

Saints win and Denver screwed up letting Vikings win.

Falcons to have turned a leaf and that is bad news for Saints and good for us.

Are you guys watching this Cardinals and 49ers game???? They're doing the dirty work for us!!!!
If the Cardinals win this game, I have to admit it makes me a little nervous. Are the 49ers going to lose three games in a row? On the other hand, maybe they're not as good people thought.

I have watched every 49’er game and they are good.
Well, they're winning right now, so...
Losers gonna find ways to lose (Cardinals).
But they haven't had the toughest schedule (49ers). I have no doubt they're tough, it remains to be seen just how tough.

Their home stretch is tough. Probably the toughest of those left.

Packers, Ravens, Saints, Falcons, Rams , Seahawks.

The recent Falcons are rocking too. And all others are in playoff race.

Well. This day was their easy game. This game wasn’t over until a minute left in the game. Now is the true test:
Packers 8-2
Ravens 8-2
Saints 8-2
Falcons 3-7 (outscored Saints and Panthers 55-12 in the last 2 weeks)
Rams 5-4 (currently beating the Bears)
Seahawks 8-2

If GB can pull off an upset (God willing), I believe we will see them in a couple of months at Lambeau.

Because the term "Americas Team" is a term coined by the Dallas Cowboys to promote themselves.

I was born and bred in WI. Packer fan my whole life. One of my good friends was a Dallas fan growing up and it never bothered me. Then my stepdad 84 years old has been a Dallas fan (from Virginia/Tennessee his entire life and he’s super nice. Then I married into a family from the Dallas suburbs. My wife is a Dallas fan but supports the Pack and Loves Favre. My cousin from WI moved to Dallas years ago and her entire family are Dallas fans. 75% of the people I work with in East Texas are Dallas fans. My daughters Pediatrician is a die hard Dallas fan
I guess you could say I know a few Dallas fans.
Not one of them is arrogant. Not one of them has ever made me feel unworthy or been derogatory. Not one of them had ever been rude or unkind (except Keith in WI a few times teasing GB back in the 80’s!).
Some Dallas fans have even said they’d rather see GB win than NE, that must’ve been hard to say.. even after we’ve been their nemesis.
I’m not really sure where the hatred for Dallas comes into play? But I’m guessing it’s from people who fear the unknown (or truly don’t know many Dallas fans) or they’ve never set foot in Dallas or they they’ve never lived in Texas period? Might not even know anyone from Dallas? Never went to a church in Dallas? Never been to the Zoo, the State Fair? A rodeo? Owned property? Maybe can’t spell Dallas?!

I love Dallas. They’ve been super good to my family. Yes, even knowing I’m a native yankee. My daughter was born 90 miles away from a Dallas and was taken care of by some of the best nurses around.. all the while I was in a Packer shirt.

I’ll always love my Packers, but I’ll root Dallas on as long as they don’t play my team.

I'm sure there are plenty of nice people who are Cowboy fans (or fans of any other team, for that matter).
But I still hate the Cowboys. And it isn't because of "fear of the unknown". I have nothing against the city itself (although it would be too hot for me). I have nothing against the Mavericks. I loved the TV show Dallas, even the reboot when the stars were all old. I hate the football team. More than the Bears even.

I'd probably hate the Bears more, except the Bears have been relatively harmless most of my life. The '85 team and that era being the main exception. I have more reason to hate the Cowboys. Lately we've had their number, which is great.

Oh, I forgot another reason to hate the Cowboys: Skip Bayless.

By the way, there have been several polls where the Cowboys were voted the #1 favorite team in the NFL. But they would also come in as the #1 most hated. People seem to be on one side of the fence or the other on them. I believe they call that polarizing.

Personally, I don't hate the Cowboys that much these days. I think what it is with this fan base here is kinda the same things that go into the needless knocking of Troy Aikman under the pretense that he carries a bias against Green Bay. I highly disagree with that as there's been no grounds to prove it. I think most fans just don't like him because he always was praising Mike McCarthy, and if you didn't like McCarthy, well you probably wouldn't like a commentator praising him.

But as to the generalized dislike of Dallas, I think it's probably a few things

1. For older generations, their memories of the 90s and fixations on all the years the Packers had to go down to D-Town at that time will never go away for some of them, even though of course things have changed quite a bit since then. I'd say the Packers have redeemed themselves in many ways, but some will never see it that way.

2. Maybe it's because Cowboy fandom is still very bandwagonish even to this day. Many people who don't have connections to the city of Dallas still adopt them because they've long had the reputation of coolest team on the block. I mean, yeah the Patriots and Seahawks certainly have bandwagon fans out there, but I'd say even to this day that bandwagon Cowboys fans and bandwagon Steelers fans are more ubiquitous.

3. They're a Jerry Jones owned team. The man has long had that evil greedy man being too opulent reputation and ... Well when even Cowboys fans themselves don't really care for him well, that's not usually good.

4. Kind of a ridiculous reason but, yeah they're Skip Bayless's team. Personally I think the fact that certain fans here just won't quit watching that show is worse than the man saying his thing. I mean seriously, with all the million and one other football/sports debate shows out there to watch

Well the Bears just dropped to the Rams and Trubisky was benched. I wonder who we'll face between him and Chase Daniel.

Always liked Daniel....wondered why he never caught on as a starter somewhere. He's a pretty well sought after backup.

I’m not sure, but that was just a strange set of events putting Chase in there. I’m not sure the reasoning behind that.
Good news is the Bears are statistically out unless there’s an absolute anomaly and then some. Now we can change gears and root for LA to lose going forward.

I just think they have a rich history and the game would be different without their contribution. They are like GB in that they had some pretty dominant teams back in the day. But they’ve been struggling to stay relevant. I guess I can relate going through 20+ years of run run pass punt type ball. I remember what it was like to appreciate a .500 season

I’m not sure but I think NE is far more polarizing. I don’t know but I would think they are the most hated from a non-fan perspective.

Nagy just announced he had a hip injury, so I guess we''ll have a few games for Pettine to study and dial up a scheme.

NE is the most hated team today, for obvious reasons (they've been successful at an unprecedented level).
In the past, usually it has been Dallas. And unless something unusual happens, I would expect Dallas to become the most hated team again. They're kind of like the Lakers or the Yankees of the NFL, if that explains it any clearer. Not in the sense that they have the most championships, but they are the most affluent franchise, and the media is all over them.

But right now the most hated team is New England.

As for rich histories, I actually respect the Bears for that on some level. They're similar to GB in that they're a classic team that's been around since the beginning. And I have friends who are Bear fans. But I still hate them :)

As a member of the older generation, you're right about the '90s. But it's also the '70s, I've hated the Cowboys since then. The '90s just rubbed it in and made it 100 times worse.

By the way, I like watching Undisputed. Skip Bayless says some ridiculous things, I honestly don't think even he believes some of the things he says, I don't see how he could. But there's more to the show than Bayless, or even Sharpe. They have a lot of guest commentators on. I like to have the sports shows on in the morning while I putter around the house. And for whatever reason, I usually find it more interesting than First Take, but I'll switch back and forth. Besides, I don't hate Bayless, I just think he says stupid things.
