Where the Packers are in the NFC

Personally, I'm quietly rooting for the Vikings because I'd rather have them or the Cowboys in the Divisional. I would like an "easier" opponent that should make for a guaranteed ticket to the NFCCG while two heavyweights slug it out on the other side. The only team I'd want to see in the Divisional is the Saints, but that's ONLY if we're the home team as I fully expect them to go flat in a primetime matchup Saturday/Sunday night in Lambeau.

The Packers have to make sure to win the division first. A Vikings loss to the Broncos yesterday would had significantly helped in that regard.

Favre lost every game in Dallas.

Fortunately Rodgers has reversed that trend having won every game in Dallas so far.

I'm confident(maybe too confident) we should win the Division. If we beat the 9ers I'd say we've all but guaranteed the #3 seed at least. With the Bears and Lions most likely fielding backup QBs and the highly immobile Cousins of the Vikes we should be in a good spot to to 6-0.

The Vikings are tough to beat at their house and I fully expect the Bears and Lions to be poised to upset the Packers even if they're out of playoff contention at that point.

They were talking about Dallas being America's Team on The Herd today. Cowherd pointed out that eight of the top 50 TV shows with the highest ratings were Cowboys games. He said there were three national brands in the NFL and no one else even comes close: Dallas, Pittsburgh, and Green Bay.

I would say the Patriots come close, but if they stop winning most people outside of NE will probably jump off the bandwagon.

I would expect a lot of people in New England to jump of that bandwagon as well.

Winning has a way of attracting a lot of "peripheral fans" in most sports. While we all want to think of the Packer fan base as a "die hard" group, I have seen a number of friends and acquaintances suddenly get interested in the Packers again in the last month and I am pretty sure that is because they are winning, after 2 years of not.

On that note, I will come clean. I had stopped following the Milwaukee Bucks a number of years ago, but when Giannis started looking like a Super Star and the Bucks started winning, I became a huge Bucks fan again.

I think for some people, they're die hard fans, but they just find it too painful to watch them lose most of the time. So as a defense mechanism, they check out, at least to some extent. I know a few people like that. They live and die on every play. I know, support the team, rah rah,and all that. But if they kept watching them while they stunk, they'd probably have a heart attack lol.

I watched them through the 70’s and 80’s. Every game on tv. That is what a die hard fan does. Even losing, we watch. Cheering for the upset win over a divisional rival, clapping on a great defensive play or a td. If you only watch when they are good, we’ll, that is the definition of bandwagon.

Unless they present me with a medical excuse for this condition, I would call those "fair weather fans". They only play when its "nice out".

There's a subtle difference, I think. A bandwagoner loses interest in the team when they're not winning. That's not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about a fan who feels so much pain from watching the team lose they avoid watching. I know people like this, and I wouldn't call them bandwagon jumpers. They're still fans of the team. It's not ideal, but they're out there.

I'm with you though, I watched every game in the 70s and 80s, no matter how miserable they were. Although when I say "every game", I mean every game that was on, because I live in Indiana, and we don't get every game. Back then if the atmosphere was just right, we could get WTMJ on the radio, but that was pretty iffy. If they were playing the Bears, I could listen on a Chicago station with Chicago announcers (Ugh!). And there was definitely no streaming lol.

one game shouldn't make much difference unless it is a blowout one way or t'other
yeah but this is MLF's coaching mentor. it's a measuring stick for him as well as the players. their defense is much better, they're at home and have all the momentum. Packers haven't fared well in sf. a win, especially if rodgers plays within the system, could go a long way towards determining the teams identity. a close loss may not be bad even. but a bad loss will quiet any sb, or mvp, talk (which i think is kinda silly anyway) and only add questions. it would also open the door for minn.

What is the bold part supposed to mean???
if he doesn't go nuts and starts choosing the p on every rpo play and throwing deep all the time. going 3 and out as a result and not sustaining drives. making it look like the 2018 offence...like the chargers game. is that what everyone wants? the repeat of the chargers game? i don't think so. run. play small ball. get the ball out quick. get first downs. control the clock. keep our D off the field. score points.

A lot of people think the 49ers are the best team in the NFC. A win in their home makes us look really good, especially considering our record. People wouldn't be ignoring us (not that I think they are now).

I expect a close game. I don't know if we win, but I expect a hard fought game, on both sides.

All 46 players active on game day have to play within the system, otherwise the Packers won't win vs. the Niners. It's not surprising you singled out Rodgers for whatever reason once again.

As a side note, Rodgers wasn't the one to blame for the loss vs. the Chargers, the offensive line had a terrible game not giving him any time to throw the ball.
