I would go with Rudolph. He could really help in games in the snow with tough visibility. IMO.Agreed...if we want to bring a cheap vet in I think Carson Wentz, Rudolph, Gabbert or Siemian are better options.

Agree with all above, I don't think Ryan adds much to the QB room that Clements can't. Would rather Etling & a rookie (or 2) fill the room & are all learning/developing.Rumors swirling that Packers may sign Matt Ryan. That would be a nice steadying force for Love.
I don't really know what these guys can bring but I would not want Ryan, Wentz or Siemian.

I'm inclined to just go with Love, and put someone else young and unknown behind him. He's "The Guy" now. He has a good coach around him, he got to watch one of the best for 3 years. I don't think he needs any more player mentorship, he needs to step up and be who he's going to be. We're going to sink or swim with him and it's time. No need to really bring in re-treads, they aren't doing anything for us anyway that matters. Bring in young, cheap, and brimming with unknown potential.
It was an “out of season” joke, but still broke the monotony.. thanks.I would go with Rudolph. He could really help in games in the snow with tough visibility. IMO.
My question would be, how much does a vet. QB cost? Let's face it, the Packers aren't going to be winning a lot of games in 2023 and throwing $5+ million at a backup QB isn't financially prudent IMO. See what Love has, see where the team goes and make backup QB decisions in 2024. Meanwhile, Etling and a rookie can develop and potentially be a solid backup in the future. If you don't know why would you be against?
Its for a back up role. I like Wentz, Siemian and Rudolph because I think they could in corner win you a game or two out of say four if Jordan is down for an injury.
Because I want someone that maybe can play well. I don't think any of those three can. The other two maybe. So I don't know about them.If you don't know why would you be against?

It appears that the Jets are signing Boyle. I guess they wanted to guarantee Lazard, that he would have someone familiar, throwing to him.I'd give Boyle's phone a ring and see if he wants to come in for workouts and possibly fight for a spot...familiar to place/system and would be crazy cheap option...but has NFL experience.
... or make it abundantly clear to Zach Wilson that he's #3 until he gets his brain in-order? Kid needs to open his eyes, watch the vets ahead of him on how to mentally prepare AND conduct himself as "a leader".It appears that the Jets are signing Boyle. I might agree with that if Love was a rookie, but he isn't. Tom Clements is an excellent QB coach and should give Jordan all the support he needs. IF Clements and MLF feel Jordan it would benefit Jordan's development to have a vet QB backing him up, then I am not opposed to one being signed, but I wouldn't want them to spend much more than vet minimum on one this season. This team isn't going very far with Jordan in 2023, I wouldn't expect a vet backup to change that, save the cap space for 2024.C'mon you guys. Ryan had the longest run from scrimmage of his career last year.
Seriously, whether it's Ryan or some other vet, I think it would be good for Love to have that sort of steadying influence and insight. I want this kid to succeed.
I see that wanting success.C'mon you guys. Ryan had the longest run from scrimmage of his career last year.

IF Love needs a vet in his ear to calm him down or be "on his side" I'd look at hiring Phillip Rivers or Ryan as an assistant QB coach rather than use a roster spot.I might agree with that if Love was a rookie, but he isn't. Agreed, although a roster spot will be used on a backup QB, I would prefer that be a young developing, cheap QB. They should have one on the practice squad as well.IF Love needs a vet in his ear to calm him down or be "on his side" I'd look at hiring Phillip Rivers or Ryan as an assistant QB coach rather than use a roster spot.
He has Tom Clements. Why do you think Love made improvements ladt year?Agreed, although a roster spot will be used on a backup QB, I would prefer that be a young developing, cheap QB. They should have one on the practice squad as well.
I would actually wonder what the philosophy for having an expensive vet backup at QB is, in a season when the Packers aren't expected to contend. Especially, when in all the past seasons that they were expected to contend, both Gute and TT basically had a cheap developing QB behind Rodgers.
Agreed and I said it in a previous post.He has Tom Clements. Why do you think Love made improvements ladt year?
Tom
Sorry..was on a plane and wasnt able to read every replyAgreed and I said it in a previous post.
I don't think Love needs a vet looking over his shoulder, especially a vet that potentially might want to start as well.
Gute may have an interesting balancing act this season. Satisfy the Packers need to see a lot of Love, to evaluate his future in the organization. While keeping the wolves at bay, if games are being lost. I know how fans love wins, even meaningless ones, but I hope those fans understand what the purpose of this season might end up being. Those screaming for Gute and MLF to be fired, may need to dig deeper and understand the process.
It's ok....I'm on a darkness retreat myself.Sorry..was on a plane and wasnt able to read every reply

Disagree. I fully expect that the team, staff and management think they are definitely going to be in the hunt for the NFC North title. My question would be, how much does a vet. QB cost? I would have been all over having a decent vet. backup when Rodgers was the QB and the team had legit Super Bowl aspirations. I feel the same about bringing in an expensive vet WR, why? Bank the savings and lets get some cap space for 2024.
