That kinda looks like me this past Monday when I hit to 3 feet on a par 3 and then missed the putt. The difference is I made the par; this kid is looking at a 3 putt. He's probably screaming, "d*am aeration holes!".

It was a GIANT REACH and the capital given up was enormous. 114, 118, and 30 for what we got just isn't good enough. There was not an elite safety in this draft so the tendency to reach here for what many believe will be a sub-package and special teams contributor his first year makes zero sense. He isn't ready to play single high free safety by any means.

People can disagree with me all they want and say I OVERVALUE offensive play makers but what the Packers have done on defense is WAY BEYOND anything I could ever come up with.
and thats why you are not an NFL GM

It is easy to draw a comparison between Alexander and Savage. Small frame guys not afraid to stick their nose in it, quick, fast, ball skills, competitive at the ball, instinctual. It's no coincidence that in both cases some analysts projected both these guys to the slot to go against the protypical small, quick receivers.

Make no mistake. These guys are a perimeter corner and a free safety, respecitively. There isn't much doubt about Alexander's spot now, where more upside can be projected, and there shouldn't be with respect to Savage.

Now, situationally, might Savage take on a slot in some man coverages? Sure. Week 3 against KC and Hill might be an example. But make no mistake. Everything about him says his primary role is prowling the back end.

That's adorable. You think Hill is going to play in the league next season

Is there a single player you like beside Parris Campbell and Ryan Grant?

Haven't people already done the math that in terms of draft values with giving up 114 and 118, it was actually a win for the Packers? So how was the capital given up enormous?

Wasn't it also rumored the Raiders, Ravens and Colts all were looking at him for their upcoming picks? So if they had their eyes on him at 30, rather than losing out on what seemed to be everyone for their 12th pick, they took a chance rather than sit back and be stunned. And like I mentioned above, haven't people already said we won it in terms of value?

Who was there still at 30 that you would have rather them picked? Because you don't name a bunch of people, you just criticize what they do and other people think. You protect yourself by never naming a NEED to have piece, just some supplementary NICE to have pieces. Like RYAN GRANT, playing the slot.

I've yet to see a positive post by you on this forum. Why do you come here? Stats don't matter to you. Numbers don't matter. Other people providing facts to you don't matter.

I have laid it out in several posts. This cuts way deeper then Parris Campbell

Christian Wilkins at 12
Nasir Adderly at 30

AND TWO 4th round picks. We would be in the drivers seat heading into today. I would be ecstatic. Instead we chopped ourselves off at the knees REACHING ALL OVER THE BOARD. Not to mention OVER PAYING BIG TIME.

When 114 is on the clock, post who you would have taken at 114 and 118. That way if they become studs, you can receive appologies from most of the posters here. And I will acknowledge you know more about being a GM than Gute.

Of course he agrees with me. It's as obvious as it gets. This wasn't one of those GREY AREA DEALS.

That's fine but Gute would also have those picks to dominate the board today as capital and get the better offensive guys tonight. Thats why I am so upset about this.

Who are you pulling for at 44 and 75?

Well at 75. I'm penciling you in for Parris Campbell at 44.

My best hope is AJ Brown at 44. I would be so cheesed.

I want Campbell at 44 and Germaine Pratt at 75. If we cant get Campbell at 44 then Deebo Samuel. If Pratt doesn't make it to 75 then the best OL prospect available.

I wouldn't mind that.

I do think OL is a much bigger need than LB.

Aj brown at 44 though I bet he is gone by 3rd pick. Ford or TE would be great as well. At 75 I want either a WR, TE, or OL.

Just so that I can get ahead of, what will mostly like become a future debate on Savage, the Packers spent 3 picks on him, No.'s 30, 114 and 118. :whistling:

wasn't it 4? 21, 30, 114,118 ;)

Sorry, just noticed you said that.

Yeah, I really like the player and it does look like a few teams may have wanted him ahead of us. I trust that their eval on him must have been crazy good, so hopefully he balls out. From my armchair, there were a lot of good safeties left for 1.30 or 2.44 that would have left us our two 4th rounders though. We have a lot of holes to fill with two day-2 picks now.

I see the same thing from your armchair but the question is not what we saw but what Gute saw. I know you know that I'm just saying I'd rather have a GM who isn't afraid to get the guy he thinks is "the guy" as opposed to one who waits to see who falls to him. Had we not made the trade and grabbed one of the other guys I probably would have been just as happy in the vacuum of not knowing the trade was an option but if it came out that Gute passed up on the guy he really wanted I'd be disappointed.

I feel like Gute traded up to get Fant at 21st because he was pretty sure Denver was going for a qb. Then when they took him, he was like ****, I traded up, might as well get a safety..

I sure hope not. A GM should NEVER be pretty sure what another GM is going to do. With a trade up you know who you want and I don't think you trade up without knowing that guy is still there. If they really wanted Fant they wouldn't have made the trade with the Seahawks if he wasn't there and they wouldn't have made the trade with the Seahawks with another team still left to pick ahead of them.
