Truly if we bring in two WRs in FA I suspect it will be something like Adams / MVS or Slayton / MVS type signings. Don't focus so much on MVS's name but I mean more so that level of FA.

I'm starting to think maybe just MVS. He has to be watched going deep and until Watson comes back; we don't have that. I wouldn't think he would break the bank. He's looked better to me than when he was with us but the main thing is really stretching the DBs. We don't have that guy no matter how fast Melton runs w/o pads. We have guys that can catch the ball. So maybe a flier in the 6th. Look for someone that caught a lot of passes last year imho. And we could put money in other places for some good players. I hope. I hope we are looking for good players now and not this high ceiling crap. And maybe sign up Tom now!

In truth if I’m Gute MVS’s camp has already heard from me if it was merely a check in to ask what is he looking for and what would he come back to GB on for a one year deal.

$4 maybe $5M one year deal for MVS makes a ton of sense given role and timing.

My bet is MVS would also listen to a two year deal as well for less but more money.

We have some major wide receiver decisions the next year or two.

Which would make more sense MVS for one year $4.5M deal or a two year $8M with $5M guaranteed….

Argument could be had seal up a guy who is a known role type guy that not many do what he does better for two years, he doesn’t eat WR1 or WR2 role from anyone…growth of Reed and Wicks not impacted.

It makes sense BUT I’d not do it if it trickle impacts other moves I prefer more (and not just talking WR)….example if Evan Engram would love to come be that inline TE2 for us and a SB pursuit I think he bookends nicely between Kraft and Musgrave roles

Getting more open by him going deep will impact Reed and Wicks. And I can't believe you are still on the TE thing. We are good there. Get a quality O line, D line or pass rusher. Don't use up ALL our money just filling in. Sign Tom. And just to throw it out there again, I would not mind getting that Alabama linebacker in the 1st. A real 4-3 with each linebacker having blitzing potential is very intriguing to me.

LOL I'm not on the TE thing...we have one guy that has proven both durable and productive. Musgrave is not an inline type TE, he is lethal at what he does when in there - but Engram or a similar type veteran to come in and be that more inline guy to support and provide depth to a position lacking (unless you believe Sims is a true TE2 capable guy at this point in his career).

Don't hone in so specifically on examples of names dropped. That could have easily been instead of a TE, perhaps a depth signing for iOL stability in like a Lucas Patrick who has started nonstop since leaving GB but is aging, and likely wouldn't cost a ton but provide solid insurance.

I do think it is a little ironic to think I'm on a TE thing with just mentioning bringing in a TE2...when you are advocating for another offball LB when we have two for sure athletic starters this year, signed McDuffie and Hopper is there too...this is not a knock on Campbell - he is a heck of an off ball prospect.

He is a 30 year old phenom!

Drafted by New Orleans - played there four years and it wasn't until his final year he BROKE OUT with a full 15 games played/started and put up 13.5 sacks

Cinci signed him and he has been arguably the best edge player in the league over the last four seasons.

2024 - 16.1% pressure rate per pass rush snap (INSANE LEVEL) / 18 sacks PFF / 83 pressures/ played 823 snaps

His last 5 seasons his AVERAGES are 16.2 sacks a year and 74.6 pressures - and those figures include a partial year in 2020. If you do the last four he has averaged 16.75 sacks and 80.75 pressures.

His PFF grades are ELITE LEVEL

So you prefer him over Myles Garret? Myles is 1 year younger, had just as many pressures on less snaps (1 less snap -but still), and Myles is better against the run. Myles has a better PFF grade. Not sure who I prefer, but if Gute is interested, I would see what the best trade deal is and go that route.

OH ****!!!! Bengals cannot afford Trey Hendrickson's future and have granted him permission to seek a trade.

NOW THIS DUDE IS WORTH GETTING RID OF OUR 1st!!!

@Dantés you see that!
I would be fine with giving up a 1st round pick for Hendrickson, but his contract is the real issue. He's likely not leaving because he hates the Bengals, but because they won't pay his price.

Sometimes it makes sense to sign an older free agent. Just look what signing Reggie and Woodson did for the franchise. The problem with Garrett or Hendrickson is that you need to give up huge draft capital plus pay them big bucks. For that reason, I'm not too crazy about trading for guys who are at the top of the market and are old enough to start their decline. I think Gute should continue to target guys who are entering their prime years. I think Slayton makes a ton of sense as a free agent if he's available. I also think that CB should be the second biggest priority in the free agent market.

Hendrickson has improved every season he has played. As far as money goes, the cap just went up $25M and you have to scale everything going forward. I recall when folks flipped out when we paid Reggie $17M for 4 years. Wouldn't get him for 1/2 a season at that rate. I'm fine with a $37M/yr deal for either of those guys. I think it will make that much of a difference.

I 100% believe he is a better player, Myles is the only player that has an argument amongst edge players last three seasons

Wondering about a comment you made earlier about the continued growth (I hope) of Reed and Wicks. For me, that raises two questions, 1) could either grow into a legit #1 WR? and 2) does that impact what the Packers do at WR this offseason?

My answer to both is no. Really like Reed and think he is the lt answer at slot WR. Reed needs a true #1 WR so he can be left to play the slot on most passing downs. Wicks needs to show he can catch the ball this year as well as he can get open. He has great footwork and great route running skills. Until he gets better at catching, he'll be a part of the WR group, but as a #3 or #4. I hope he proves me wrong.

As far as what Gluten does at WR (or probably has already done), I'm still holding out for either Metcalf, my first choice, or Slayton as a FA. That's just my preference. I'm just not crazy about bringing back Adams or MVS. In this case, you can't go home again.

I'm always interested in other ideas/suggestions. And maybe Edge is more important and Gluten pulls off a trade for a guy like Hendrickson, who almost certainly has three good years left. He looks better to me than Garrrett. Can't have both Metcalf and Hendrickson, imo, so where is the greater need? Open question gang, have at it.

Yes, both Reed and Wicks have shown in different ways they could be the centerpiece production wise of an offense. However, Reeds game IMO is more dependent upon good system and other weapons….Wicks separation ability transcends everything. If he gets his hands and head connected the dude will be a problem in the league in a massive way.

Oh I’d choose Hendrickson over any FA and any position. He’s that level of prospect.

Garrett would be similar mindset for me if an option.

I didn't even know about Hendrickson until you mentioned him. 17.5 sacks last season? That's just unreal. So yeah, Hendrickson or Garrett would be welcome.

It will depend on what the team does at WR. I don't think they can trade for and sign both Metcalf and Hendrickson/Garrett. Hard to say which way Gluten will go. I have a feeling though that a deal or two was made last week at the combine and we'll know soon.

That's an accurate read on these guys. Reed has been asked to do too much imo. I'd rather he had the time to just play slot. But I don't think Reed or Wicks become #1 guys. It will be an interesting week ahead.
