Why? Immediately as he started running out of the end zone, I said aloud "why is he taking it out?" There is no point of taking kicks out of the end zone when a touchback now brings you to the 25.

WHY? WHY? WHY? do you even think of of returning it out of the endzone? I'm surprised the Rams even kicked it to the endzone.
Monty hasn't had a return to the 25 all year without a penalty. He downs it, we get it at the 25 and can run a play before the 2 minute warning. Try and return it, you take time off and lose the 2 minute timeout before any offense is run.

add in the missed blitz pick up earlier, He had a horrible horrible game. He has ball security issues, always has. I'd be fine cutting him tomorrow. not normally a knee jerk type of guy, but he can't block, he can't run and he used to be smart. Today was one of the dumbest plays I've seen out of an an NFL player in that situation.

Lots to be happy for in that defense, and even in parts of the offense again, but that ending killed us. We seem to have a habit of doing that. I can't believe all those tipped and defended balls today and the only tipped one gives the Rams the ball in scoring position right before the half.
