You absolutely cannot call a running play with no lead blocker.. from your own end zone. McCarthys playcalling in crucial moments are as bad as it gets.

The wasted timeouts have become more of a staple of the offense than Rodgers yelling “Green 18!” I knew the TWO timeouts they literally wasted would haunt us smh.

Montgomery. Seriously have no words for him. Can’t be a wr, can’t stay healthy, can’t be a feature back, and can’t return kicks anymore. Won’t be back next season either. I’m perfectly fine with that.

And he's not much of a pass rusher. We need to either cut Clay next year or get him back on steroids.
I agree but he has zero coverage skills. At least rushing the passer puts someone else in coverage who might make a play.

Montgomery was idiotic. But how in the blue hell was that not discussed by the SPECIAL TEAMS COACH prior to taking the field?

Absolutely inexcusable. Rodgers would have won that game with over 2 minutes and a timeout only down 2.

I’m disgusted right now. The defense played like some warriors today. Jaire is the real. *******. Deal.

So deflating.

McCarthy said in his press conference in as subtle terms as possible that Montgomery was told prior to the return, not to return anything out of the endzone.

Studs:
The defense in general
Alexander in particular
Matthews, a couple of clutch plays near the end
The receiving corps, especially Adams
Crosby

Duds:
Whoever called the run on first down from their own one yard line
Scott
Ty Montgomery
Whoever failed to tell Montgomery, "Touchback unless the ball isn't getting into the end zone. Understand me, Ty? If the ball gets back there, it's knee down, got it? 'Cause we want the five seconds and the two minute warning and Rodgers can take it form there. So knee down, right? You got it? You sure? Good. Go do it."

Wow. So just a phreaking stupid mental error by Monty. That's tragic. I actually like the guy. He's done what they asked of him even when it didn't make sense. Until now.

Yeah, and I want to add to the chorus of those who are sick of burning time outs because the offense can't get its act together before the play clock runs out. That should be very, very rare. The Packers are guaranteed to do it at least once per half. It wasn't the difference maker this time, but it could have been.

Not sure why its a bad idea to run from 6 yards deep in your own endzone w/o a lead blocker into the stoutest defensive front line in the NFL - but then I am not the Coach who has had the best QB in the league for ten years and can't trust him or give him protection.Montgomery needs to be cut - immediately , if he was told not to leave the endzone - and if he was not told .........

I like Ty as well, but I'd cut him in the morning. He's borderline rosterable anyway, and at some point you need to send a message to your team that actions have consequences and that not listening to your coaching staff has consequences.

But we won't, because we aren't big on accountability, which is why we have players who consider coaching instructions to be optional in the first place.

Monty seems like a great guy off the field. Somebody you would like your daughter to marry. So it hurts to say that he should be gone tomorrow. I wish him well wherever he ends up.

I feel bad for him, but can you imagine this happening on a Belichick team?

Just cut Montgomery, he really adds nothing to this team at this point, any carry that goes to him is one that doesn't go to AJones. The fact that he even took that ball out of the endzone will never cease to boggle my mind.

See? This is the kind of **** that the New England Patriots would never do. This is why Tom Brady has 5 Super Bowls. Situational football is NEVER an issue with them

This is why I refuse to believe Belichick’s comment that MM is a great coach. It’s more of a self-serving comment, the same way that Packer fans always said Jay Cutler was a great QB.

This is the Patriots to a tee. Kill them with kindness, then kill them on the scoreboard.

I'm paraphrasing a bit but it went like this:

McCarthy: "Yeah, the plan there was to take a knee in the endzone, keep the clock north of the 2 minute warning and take the ball at the 25. We even talked about that before the kick. I didn't see how deep the kick was. You trust your players though, I think Ty was just trying to make a play."

Interviewer: "But shouldn't it have been said to Ty, hell or high water, do not return that kick out of the endzone?"

McCarthy: "I think I've already answered that, that was the plan."

Dud, coaching
Dud, game plan
Dud, whoever’s big idea it was to ram a 200lb back up the middle with only a soft offensive line in front from the freaking two inch line. Only two outcomes there... smashed by a ton of incoming meat for no gain, or loss of two inches and a safety. What was the point?
Repeat... coaching duds all over
Dud....more coaching... who didn’t drum it in that you gotta contain and cover your area of responsibility until the ball crosses the line of scrimmage. Duh! One play every packer chased almost every ram to one side of the field... except of course the one ram who popped out all alone in the empty field for a major first down. Or clay Mathews... good game.... except the two plays he was off... somewhere ... leaving his entire area open... two more huge first downs.
Dud- to the freaking Debby downer attitude the packers get every time the other team makes a play. They fold up like sad little kittens.
