What is funny about the Jordy cut:

The Raiders paid this seasons Roster bonus of $3.6M to Jordy in Decemeber, for cap purposes. I guess they assumed he was an automatic 2019 player? Had they not, that $3.6 M would still be in the Raiders bank account. Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy! Congrats Jordy!

Can't believe how much money gets thrown around like its Candy.

https://raiderswire.usatoday.com/2018/12/28/raiders-pay-2019-roster-bonuses-to-4-veteran-players/

So we can just send him money for the airfare and sign him basically? He got his money.

Jordy Nelson released by the Raiders. :coffee:
Come back to us Jordy! But on a serious note I'd like for us to sign him just to see if he really did lose a step in regards to that one bad year everyone is ******* him for.

I'll take the 4th round pick instead. ;)

I'm glad we got something out of him too, but I'd be biased saying this is a horrible deal for the Bears.

Along with Jordy being released by Oakland was AJ McCarron. I'd like us to at least look at him as a backup possibility.

Those wanting the Packers to sign Golden Tate......

His deal with the Giants was 4 years $37.5 M with $23M guaranteed.

No thanks!

So we traded HA HA to the Bears for Adrian Amos and a 4th round draft pick. I like that trade.

I'm not a fan of him at all but 1 year for 3.5 mil is a steal for them

And they said 3.5 million can't buy you crap in the NFL nowadays. This is proof that 3.5 million can indeed buy you crap.

Seriously its not a terrible deal for them but I'd still rather have Amos.

Had to chuckle a bit at the Adrian Amos interview. He talked about how every players goal is to get to that second contract. The struggle of getting there and wanting to be able to take care of your family.

If someone can't take care of their family by making $500K/year (his rookie deal), something just isn't right in our society. *steps off his soapbox*

:roflmao::roflmao: I do love your math! But yes, essentially we kind of did in a round about way. Of course let's not talk about how much money we now owe Amos :speechless:

Question you guys. I've been going around seeing that Jared Cook is available. Is that true, and if so should we give him a look? Dude balled out last year.

Guessing he is still around because his asking price is high. Not much in the way of quality TE's on the FA market, so he is probably thinking he will get a big contract. All that said, with what the Packers are paying Graham and just shelled out for 4 FA's, to much or a rich luxury for the Packers.

Damn! If only we had waited a year later! I mean the jury still is out on Graham but that catch Cook did with Rodgers down in Dallas was legendary.

Nah, that never enters into the conversation unless its what other teams suddenly have to pay their newly acquired talent and how it will cripple them in the future. Still, I think I would rather have Amos for what we are paying him than Ha Ha for what the Bears are paying him.

Well you will be able to provide for your wife and kids in the distant future, but if you want to provide for them along with your parents and siblings in the long term 500k a year for roughly 10 years wouldn't be enough right? I am not aware of any career opportunities retired NFL players have but I can imagine they will never earn close to those rookie deals. Those 2nd contracts insure stability for them and their families for decades.
