Can't remember which thread or who I was conversing with on the subject matter of "Do players prefer not signing with the Packers because of the City?"

While this article is by no means scientific or can it be held to be the way all players (their agents) think, it was a bit eye opening for me. Green Bay isn't in the bottom 5, but they definitely aren't in the top 5.

But I do kind of draw from it that it is less the City, than the organization itself, that makes some players think about where they will sign if contract values are pretty equal.

I read that as well. They described GB and NE as polarizing destinations. Some guys hate the idea; others love the idea. Very few are ambivalent.

Kirk Olivadotti, our current LB coach, was in that role for years in Washington. So he has a background with Preston Brown.

I would be open to the idea of signing Brown and trading Martinez, if there is a market for the latter. I don't think they plan on extending Martinez anyways.

Colin, FWIW, loves the moves the Packers made yesterday and also loves that the moves generally flew under the radar. They were able to upgrade their pass rush without breaking the bank and making a flashy move. Said to save the flashy moves for teams that have so far...Browns, Oakland, Lions, Bills, Jets are historically losing franchises. Leave those big name moves to them.

Thought it was a nice sentiment from someone who doesn't often give the Packers too many props for as often as he takes shots at Rodgers.

He did sandwich that inbetween saying he thinks the Bears and Vikings have better rosters so wouldn't be shocked if they miss the playoffs 3 years in a row.

Hate to break Colin's heart, but the Packers ain't missing it for a 3rd consecutive year.

Great list and the best part, it’s mostly doable. The only “big name” FA I’d like them to go after is Collins. But S is so deep in FA, they can hardly go wrong if he’s asking too much. Somebody is probably gonna pay him $13 or $14 mil, and that’s crazy. If they could get him for $10 mil, I’m in.

Its been a nearly a week since you posted. Thanks for liking my list. It was made way before Gordon went AWOL...again. Its a shame he has loads of potential with no discipline.

Now that Collins is with the 'Skins, I actually like the Adrian Amos signing. Bears loss is definitely a gain for the Pack. Not really sold on the Brothers Smith (Zadarius and Preston) signings, and not for that price. However, they have potential, and are young. Time will tell.

This wouldn't be a signing, but the Browns are shopping Duke Johnson. I'd for sure give up a 5th for him. I love the way he plays.

For all of those worried that the 4 new Free Agents wouldn't sign, it's official: Smith, Smith, Amos and Turner are all inked into contracts!

I've heard fat ladies start warming up and then head to the buffet instead or trip on their way to the stage. I'm always more relaxed once they are finally there and singing.

I am a little surprised by this move. I am with you, enjoy his play and think he is very dynamic especially in a 3rd down type role and we don't know how long Hunt will be suspended. I believe I read 10-12 weeks, must have their eye on someone in the draft?

This will be a good test to see how much having a good defensive front matters. If Dix has a Pro Bowl year in Chicago, we have our answer. I expect to see him still miss a lot of tackles and not be that stellar.
