Opinions are like A-holes, we all have one.
Rison worked because it was short term and we were headed somewhere. Guys like that are only worth short term risk.
We will never know how it would of worked out with Rison in Green Bay, had they signed him for another contract. The Packers may have wanted to get him out before he went back to being a malcontent, viewed him as unnecessary or maybe he didn't want to stay? I don't remember why he wasn't back, but he did have a pretty good season in KC in 97. Looking back at the Packers stats for 97, it appears they totally relied on Freeman and Brooks, both WR's going over 1000 yards. Dorsey Levens was the big workhorse though, 1435 yds rushing and 370 receiving. Despite going 13-3 in the regular season that year, I wonder if they wished they had kept Rison, he might have been the difference needed to beat Denver in the Super Bowl that year, a game the Packers were favored to win by 11.5 points?
