Good for Corey and good for the Packers in the way of a potentially high 2022 Comp pick.

Awesome player, but glad the Packers didn't pay him.

The #Chargers are signing C Corey Linsley to a five-year, $62.5 million deal, sources tell me and
@TomPelissero
. He is the new highest-paid center in the league and will get $26 million over the first two years.
That's a surprisingly BAD contract, IMHO. $13Mil Signing Bonus and relatively low salaries in years '21 ($4Mil) & '22 ($9Mil). 41% of the $62.5Mil is last 2 years so Chargers could conceivably cut/trade him after '23 with low dead $ and large cap savings ($8.9Mil in '24 or $14.5Mil in '25).

He overtook Ryan Kelly for "highest paid OC" but Kelly received $25Mil guaranteed vs. Linsley's $17Mil. I'm glad he "got paid" but I think they should've gotten more SB up front.

Syracuse has an NFL team? This is a free agent as in already played in the NFL thread.

Syracuse had a professional football squad called the "Syracuse Pros"....They were founded in 1921 and folded in, ah, 1921.

It was a great ride.

WR has been slow to develop so far. The only big time name that's signed is Corey Davis (3/37.5/27 with the Jets).

We've discussed quite a bit how Curtis Samuel could fit in this offense as a big upgrade in an expanded version of the Ervin/Austin role.

Another guy who I think would fit like a glove, albeit differently, is Juju Smith-Schuster. He's a powerful guy who seems to relish the dirty work of run blocking and punishing defenders. He plays in the slot for the most part. For those reasons, I think he could fit nicely into Lazard's role. He's not great at getting himself open, but neither is Lazard-- Petals did most of that for him. But he would just dominate after the catch in this offense.

A pricy WR might be a luxury they can't afford. Cornerback is certainly the bigger need. But if they feel that they can do it, and the prices shake out in a manageable place, I think he'd be a master stroke signing.

I have always thought TY Hilton runs great routes, has very good hands and can get deep. If he is still good; he might be a good signing.

Hilton has missed a fair amount of games in last few years with calf, quad & hammy issues. According to www.sportsinjurypredictor.com (this is a real site!) there's a 91% chance of injury in '21, with prediction of missing 3.7 games, for what it's worth.

I like him, just need to realize he may not be available every week which is pretty important to GB.

Great website, thanks for highlighting it.

FWIW, I plugged in Davante Adams into the player box, and he came back as a 92% chance of injury in 2021, and listed him as a high risk.

Levi Wallace is also a FA. A very good young CB who has speed. The Bills declined to tender him. He only gave up 31 catches on 64 targets last season.

I was a little shocked he wasn't tendered.

I don’t know a lot about him but speed certainly doesn’t seem to be a strength.

Malcolm Butler is 31, but he is intriguing. I don't know how expensive he would be.

Hayward and Breeland have been her before.

What I find noteworthy is that now the NFL has become so specialized that we list some corners as 'slot'.

Yeah, some of the guys listed at CB can and do play in the slot but the guys labeled “slot” are really slot only players.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say Gute can plan on a 3rd rounder for that.

Quick question, Jones technically never hit the true FA market correct? So his contract offsets nothing??? Only one cup of coffee and this question seems stupid as I type it even LOL

Mondo already answered the 2nd part but I will comment on your first statement. Linsley is definitely a "check in the FA Loss column" for the Packers when it comes to calculating compensatory picks, but in no way guarantees them a 3rd rounder because of it. We will have to wait and see what other Packer FA's are signed or what FA's the Packers sign. Plug all the pluses and minuses into the NFL's super secret compensatory draft pick formula and then wait until 2022 to find out what you get, if anything.

Tonyan....This will be interesting to see what happens.

If he is as good as some think, I can see a team giving up a 2nd rounder for him. The question for the Packers, how much are they willing to pay him? This could turn into a game of "chicken".

I really don't know just how valuable Tonyan is to the Packers, obviously at least $3,384,000 of value. I think a first round tag would have shut the door on anyone trying to sign him, the 2nd round tender....might just bring some tire kickers.

Sullivan..... This was a must. The Packers just don't have much at CB. Will he get tendered by another team? Probably not, I think there will be enough better CB's available at the same or a bit more $$.

It's a "right of first refusal" tender for Chandon Sullivan, a source said. Worth $2.133M. Packers wouldn't get any compensation if they decided not to match an offer, should one come.

No I get that and didn't elaborate. I personally don't expect them to sign anyone that will come close to impacting Linsley's signature on the dotted line. Now I could see us possibly doing one or two contracts that could wipe King's or Jamaal's out.

I don't think the Packers let Tonyan go anywhere personally - unless someone throws some like DUMB money his way.

Personally though, I'm in a different camp...should I be able to turn him into a 2nd rounder I am taking it. That pick could point towards Brevin Jordan or Tommy Tremble two TEs that Gute has been kicking tires on hard OR a WR OR gives us a stab at possibly leaving Day 2 with an immediate answer at CB and RT and C....

The thing that may work in our favor is that this is a weak TE class outside of Pitts, so a TE needy team, such as the Jags, or Cowboys may be willing to part with their 2nd. If it's the Jags, I say let him walk, it'll basically be a 1st.

I've seen reports that he runs a 4.45, but he ran like a 4.6 at the combine. He plays much faster than that. Could be one of those things where he just doesn't time well due to technique or something along those lines.

up the road from jerrahworld
got a feeling their own will be the biggest signings. jones and tonyan (if they match someone's offer to keep him). if they can't/don't match then maybe a cheapish CB.
