IMO, Tonyan has proven to be a good fit on this team and works well with Rodgers. He’s a good and instinctive player that appears to be ascending. I’d be surprised if the Packers are not working very hard to keep him.

Strongly agree here. If you develop a good, reliable pass catching TE then keep him. They're rare. Especially as we don't know what we have with Sternberger yet.

Demovsky saying that from what he's heard, the Packers are looking at mid level corners and defensive linemen.

Tom Pelissero says he expects the Packers to address the OL after the first wave of FA is over.

While the scheme has probably helped Tonyan, can’t say it did the same for Graham. Tonyan was No. 1 in catch percentage (89.7), TDs (11), drop percentage (0.0) and passer rating (148.3) amongst tight ends with at least 40 receptions.

I think Tonyan is a good player who is still getting better and hasn’t even fully learned the position yet. It would be in our best interests for the packers to lock him up imo.

Look at how Dantes says where he got the information.

Now, could the rest of you do that? It isn’t hard, I promise.

The CB market just got a little more intriguing. The Bills, for reasons unknown, declined to tender Levi Wallace. He's a good young (25 yo) CB. I wonder how much he would cost to bring in? Have to think the Packers will be a player.

It might be because he runs a 4.63 in the 40. He'd be burnt toast in a man heavy scheme that I assume Barry will run.

My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw Dantes pass out at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it's pretty serious.

The Rams were not a man heavy defense. They mix coverages. Even the most man-heavy teams in the NFL only use it half the time.

They ran a lot of cover 4 (so did the Packers). And Barry's background is mostly with zone heavier teams.

Current Starters Heading into FA:
  • QB: A. Rodgers
  • RB: A. Jones
  • WR: D. Adams
  • WR: M. Valdes-Scantling
  • WR: E. St. Brown
  • TE: J. Sternberber
  • TE: J. Deguara
  • OT: D. Bakhtiari
  • G: E. Jenkins
  • C: L. Patrick
  • G: J. Runyan
  • OT: B. Turner
  • DL: K. Clark
  • DL: D. Lowry
  • DL: K. Keke
  • ED: Z. Smith
  • ED: R. Gary
  • LB: K. Barnes
  • LB: K. Martin
  • CB: J. Alexander
  • CB: J. Jackson
  • CB: K. Hollman
  • S: A. Amos
  • S: D. Savage
Green = Set
Orange = Adequate
Red = Problematic
Grey = Unknown

I think this helps reveal where the biggest immediate need is for free agency purposes, and that's corner (easily).
If I may piggyback on that thought. My concern is our ability to reformulate our protection for Aaron Rodgers as he enters his twilight years. His value to this team is exponential and as long as he’s standing and not being repetitively abused he’s formidable. In my mind, I put that OL piece you mentioned as a top #1-#2 emphasis (as of pre FA).

That said, I liked the clarity layout. Helps to integrate a plan of attack for personnel at the weak areas. It’s got a military strategist theology flair to it.
No question about CB being a major concern right now. I’d kinda like to get a reasonably priced (whatever that is) Vet that’s already been primed to slide into Kings role. We could still find another through draft, but it wouldn’t be so crucial as it currently stands.

You're absolutely correct, "man heavy" teams are only about half the time. But Frazier(Bills) I would attribute to more a "zone heavy" look, despite having Tre'Davious White. There's a reason why Wallace went undrafted out of Alabama, and in my analysis back then that was one of the reasons why, he's a CB with SS speed. Wouldn't trust him on the outside, he'd be Nickel only, and I'd rather stick with Sullivan(who isn't exactly a speedster anyway), or hope Hollman can finally challenge for more playing time. Could he suffice in Cover 4? Hmmmm....maybe, and if Barry threw in a bit of Cover 6 principles too(but we dont't have the LBs for that). I'm still solid on passing though.

I find it hilarious that for the second year in a row, the Vikings' big move on defense is signing an expensive interior run plugger.

To be fair, Aaron Jones and co have murdered them in the past.

I'd also take an expensive interior run plugger for us right now.

You don't have to pay top of the market to find good run defenders.

Tell that to Gutey.
Those guys don't get signed until the second wave. I wouldn't panic this week or deep into next if the "answer" to whatever spot isn't onboard yet. Then I personally still wouldn't panic because underneath it all is a game broadcast to sell ads.

Did you really think I was meaning a team a decade later, or the team 1 year later?

There have been crazier thoughts posted on here ;)

It would be nice if they tender tonyan at a second and someone signed him. Even a third would be good.

The Packers could either get a first or second rounder based on the tender put on Tonyan if he signs with another team.

Their interest in fuller is pretty well known, mlf was with him at notre dame. His injury history and now ped history scare me...

I'm not a big fan of samuel and I certainly hope the Packers don't sign him to a big deal. I think he goes to jacksonville

Golladay is intriguing, he's like an allen robinson and I know had the bears not tagged him gutey would be after him. I think he'd be a great signing for the Packers although he could end up being too expensive. I could see the Packers being in on him at around 14 million per but any more than that idk

I think maybe the most realistic option is ty hilton on a 8-10 m per 3 year deal...

I'd be happy with golladay or hilton, a bit weary with fuller but still excited about the possibility, I'd be least stoked on samuel

Edit: also like corey davis for 10-12 m per same range I'd be ok with a will Fuller deal I guess

In my opinion the Packers should still add talent at wide receiver this offseason but there are more pressing needs for it to make sense spending big bucks in free agency on the position.

I really don't see Gute signing any DL unless they're for peanuts. If they can't outplay Lowry I doubt he pulls out the wallet. Our DL will be completely rebuilt during the Draft. Expect 3 DL selections between Day 2 and Day 3.

Corey Linsley to sign a deal with the Chargers to make him the highest paid center in the NFL.

Good for Corey and good for the Packers in the way of a potentially high 2022 Comp pick.

Awesome player, but glad the Packers didn't pay him.

The #Chargers are signing C Corey Linsley to a five-year, $62.5 million deal, sources tell me and
@TomPelissero
. He is the new highest-paid center in the league and will get $26 million over the first two years.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say Gute can plan on a 3rd rounder for that.

Quick question, Jones technically never hit the true FA market correct? So his contract offsets nothing??? Only one cup of coffee and this question seems stupid as I type it even LOL

re-signing your own FA's doesn't affect the formula regardless.
