I'm fine with all 3 players (Jordy, Cobb and Clay) remaining Packers for the rest of their careers. However, at the right price. If a new deal can be worked out for each one of them to reflect their current and future value, get it done for the good of the team. It isn't like we have young up and comers at either position to take over.

Damn does that make him the highest paid receiver in the league?

Adams' new deal makes him the fourth highest paid receiver behind Brown, Hopkins and Green based on yearly average.
Ok I was gonna say that’s a lot but I’m glad they resigned him my guess is Jordy gets restructured if it happens otherwise I’d expect to cut him honestly and keep Cobb in the slot age wise.. I just can’t justify 3 receivers over 10 mil a year especially if Rodgers gets hurt and we have no one to throw the ball..

I know I'm in the minority on this but I wouldn't have resigned him. That's an awful lot of money for someone has sustained three concussions in the past 14 months. I don't really see him lasting that long in the NFL. That money could've been better used for pass rushers and secondary help.

You're absolutely right about that, especially as the Packers already allocated the second most cap space in the league into the receiver position before re-signing Adams.

I think Jordy has enough left in the tank to be a really good slot guy for another few years.

I'm glad they got it done... but this just keeps us treading water as the "decent" team we are... when Rodgers is healthy

I'm not worried about concussions unless people continue to want to put his head up for a trophy mount. I do expect the league to come down hard with rule changes this year on those types of plays. Ejections and suspensions will come quick to start next season I think

That's a lot of money tied up in the WR group. I'm almost certain we do something with Cobb or Nelson now, if not this franchise is nuts.

Will look like a steal a year or two from now if he can keep his head on. Glad he's staying. Will be sad if we lose Jordy, but who knows.

I don't know what other top FA WR's will be out there at the end of the year, but guessing this helped set the bar for others and at the end of Spring, Adams may end up being down the list further from the top.

I hope the next breaking news for the packers is Dom Capers cut.. then Ted Thompson. Lol then I want them to hire a different DC that is preferably younger than 60 yrs old someone that understands the game that it is right now.. and then Wolf fill in and start the quick build on defense and not be afraid to actually sign someone that could help us out JS

For a comparable Alshon Jeffrey got 13 million a year and has had more injury issues and is older. Jeffrey has had bigger years in the past though.

I agree that he does but they shouldn’t pay him 10 mil a season if he agrees to a pay cut then absolutely but like I said I would rather keep Cobb who is younger

From an emotional perspective obviously signing your best receiver to a multi year deal seems like a big positive.

So the other side of the coin -- and I know I'll be in the minority here, but I'm not sure this was a great business decision. There is a tremendous financial risk involved here for a player who is 2 or 3 concussions away from a shortened career. I thought that if this deal got done, there might be a bit of a small discount attached to compensate for that risk. Obviously, not so much.

My personal preference would have been for him to play under the franchise tag in 2018 -- then he could be extended after you wait and see and make sure the concussions won't be a continuing issue. You can't even really say he'd get a lot more expensive after that -- not when you're already setting the floor at $14.5M.

I'm glad the Packers re-signed Adams but that's a shitload of money. With that move I fully expect either Nelson or Cobb not being on the roster next season.
My goodness. No kidding.

I'm glad that he'll be around, but this seems excessive. As good as Rodgers is, you would expect that we would get more production out of these WRs while they are still cheap.

There seems to be a buy high/sell low dynamic with the WRs and CBs which highlights the deficiencies with the coaching staff. We sign WRs to big deals basically because it takes years for them to become productive, and the offense is dependant on them and their production is inflated because of our excellent QB. Then we let Pro Bowl secondary players walk for pennies because the coaches decrease their perceived value because of poor defensive scheming.

Adams has the most receiving TD's in the league the past two seasons, performed the same with Rodgers that he did with Hundley, and just turned 25.

Pay that man his money and lock him up.

So a WR on a team with Rodgers as the QB leads the league in TDs? That's totally never happened before!

Adams aside, as of right now we will have about $40M in cap space (around 25%) committed to our top 3 receivers.

For a team that has been bled by its defense for years and has a QB who can make any receiver better, that is way, way over the top.

Nobody is disagreeing.

We will see a significant change to Nelson's and Cobb's contracts.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. We've cut high paid players before.

Certainly, the contract can be looked at from many angles, and so can WR stats. However, outside of TDs (think of Bubba Franks), through that's worthy, Adams, this year, his second good one in a row, is 17th in receptions, 20th in YPG, and something like 65th in avgYPC. Not sure that rates a top-5 (currently, for next year, using the $14mil average) contract.
