Scratch Jordan Morgan from the roster for the remainder of 2024. Lafleur confirms that he has reinjured the shoulder he hurt in training camp, and is done for the year.

It seems likely he had surgery on it, because he was absent from practice for a couple of days and showed up on the sidelines yeesterday with his arm in a sling. At least one reporter specifically asked Lafleur if he'd had surgery, and Lafleur specifically avoided a yes or no answer - just blew right past the question, which I guess is basically the same as shouting "hell yeah, damned right he did!"

This is the first I realized how badly he'd been struggling with that shoulder all year. So that's two of our highly anticipated Day One and Two picks who are basically redshirted their first year - Morgan and Lloyd. We'll apparently have both of them back and at full strength next summer, to augment the incoming draft class, so it should make for a pretty exciting training camp. I know we'll probably still get a few games out of Lloyd this season, so we'll at least have some useful data on him, but it'll be almost as though we have one extra 1st round pick coming into camp and an extra 3rd rounder as well - amping up the level of competition.

It also gives Ryan a nice bump in pay because apparently he gets a $2 million bonus for the extra snaps, and more importantly he's guaranteed another 150 - 300 snaps (depending on how the playoffs go) to show he can be a valuable contributor. It might allow him to show enough development to make the decision on Myers a lot easier.

Where's the center help? Those selections make some sense but Gute will need to find a center.
Thats why we drafted Monk. He started 58 games (44 consecutive) for Duke. He’s a 3 time All ACC player and Team Captain for his last 2 seasons. I’m not sure if you realized he played Center but he’s got plenty of experience. Also remember we often grab an Interior guy in FA and many were not only drafted but they have NFL experience.
I know it's not a fair sample size but Jenkins didn't fare to well filling in for Myers when he was hurt.
No it’s not fair. You picked 1 game and in the driving rain no less.
Monk has played poor enough as a rookie to get passed up by Glover so he may not be much more than the 8th or 9th guy.
Monk and Glover don’t even compete for the same Position. Monk can play 3 spots but he’s primarily Center or RG. Monk isn’t an NFL Tackle. Not sure what you infer by he got beat out by Glover. Both are backups nobody beat nobody.

What’s up @Sanguine camper!
As far as being “light” at OL? Where were you when I argued that back in 2015-2016?

Since our 1996 SB. GB has NEVER drafted 3 OL in any draft before the MLF era.
We drafted 33 OL across 23 Drafts since 1996.
That’s 1.43 OL per draft for 23 years.

Since 2020 we’ve drafted 3 O Lineman FOUR times. That’s 12 OL drafted since 2000 and it does not include Elgton Jenkins (2019)
That’s 2.4 OL per draft across the last 5 Drafts.

In 2024 alone we drafted
1 OT 6th Rounder
1 OT/OG 1st Rounder on season end IR
1 Center/Guard 5th Rounder

I would challenge you to find out how many NFL teams have drafted 12 OL since 2020 . Then from your list how many drafted 3 OL this year. Then tell me you still believe we haven’t drafted enough OL. Here’s our Division

Packers
12 OL since 2020
3 OL in 2024

Vikings
8 OL since 2020
2 in 2024

Bears
10 OL since 2020
1 in 2024

Lions
6 OL since 2020
2 in 2024

You mean trade UP to 31 from 32 oh ye of little faith. ;)
I didn’t want to Jinx us. I’m one of those guys thats so unlucky that if I play the lottery? Nobody Wins!
When I play not only do I not Win.. but I’m the reason you all have to wait for another drawing!
If I say we’ll Win the SB it’s a 100% chance we won’t.
If I say we’ll lose, we’re sure to bring home that Lombardi! I’m the antithesis of Luck

Monk has been a scratch from the game day roster while Glover has been active more times the past 4 to 5 weeks. I would say that shows Glover has passed Monk up as special teams player at this stage. Both guys would primarily play blocking roles on special teams. The fact that Monk isn't getting put on the game day roster is a sign that he's a long ways from getting the trust of the coaches. That's normal for a low round draft pick but thinking he's anything more that an 8th or 9th O linemen isn't justified by his rookie season performance.

The reason I’m pushing back is not that there isn’t a possibility that we like Glover more than Monk, but for the reasons you are suggesting. We just lost a key option at backup OT (Morgan) and trust me they knew this was coming before you and I knew this week. Monk is not a logical elevation for Tackle depth. He is a logical elevation for Guard/Center depth.

Imo if Jordan Morgan just got back healthy and Elgton Jenkins injured? Travis Glover would instantly replaced by Monk on Teams. This has little to do with confidence and more to do with position if that makes any sense?
Also just for the record Monk has 66 more snaps in 2024 than Glover and has at least 25% more snaps in each of Preseason and Teams separately.
That’s NOT an indication of distrust in Monk

You are right, Monk saw special teams action (39 snaps) in the Packers first 9 games and Glover, the last 4 games (23 snaps). Not sure if it is because the Packers feel Glover is better, more healthy or what. In any case, I don't think we can conclude a whole lot as far as Monk's future as an offensive lineman. As you alluded to, he's a rookie and right now, hard to say where he will end up. I am just happy that the OL has stayed relatively healthy all season and guys like Glover and Monk haven't had to play much on the starting unit (Glover has 4 snaps).

I hope I don't jinx things, but the OL has been super healthy this season.

Snap Counts:

Walker: 887 (100%)
Jenkins: 883 (99.5%)
Myers: 811 (91.43%)
Rhyan: 766 (86.36%)
Tom: 882 (99.44%)

If you look at the Packers O line "depth" it's scary to say the least. They better not be jinxed because any injuries, and you can probably kiss any post-season success goodbye. Dillard was absolutely horrific with Tennessee last season while Telfort, Monk and Glover have zero experience. Put one of those guys in the lineup and you could possible get by with some help. Put two of those guys in the lineup and you're in a world of hurt.
