I saw that after my post. I think Bortles was the better choice, given that he was in camp this summer with this team and learned the playbook. Hundley was a Packer 4 years ago, when McCarthy was running the offense, wasn't a very good QB and has way less experience than Bortles, as well as less playing time in the last 4 years.
Yeah, I had to edit my post too. Hundley is a protected practice squad player. Glad for it too. The Colts can keep him.

Hundley was released by the Colts. I don't think he is on an NFL team. We could have brought him in instead of Bortles.

Edit: After his release they did re-sign him to their practice squad. I also read that he is a protected practice squad player, meaning the Packers could not have signed him. Aww shucks!

The Colts didn't protect Hundley from being signed off their practice squad this week.

They knew he was not vaccinated. He filed some type of waiver to use his homeopathic treatment given to boost his immune system as his vaccination. The NFL and the NFLPA denied this appeal and he was considered unvaccinated since that time. So, they had to have known about it.

It's true the NFL and NFLPA knew about it, I'm not sure about the locker room though.

Ah, I mistook this for week 5 against the Ravens. In my haste, I did not read the article all the way through. Trying to fix one mistake and just made another. :cautious:

It should be pretty obvious per the rules. He should have been testing everyday. That's probably how he came back positive. MLF said Rodgers we following all the rule in the football facility.

I highly doubt Rodgers followed all the rules for unvaccinated players though. We will find out once the league's investigation is finished.

Krabs is correct. The NFL knew, the NFLPA knew. If GB did not know (which I doubt) then they deserve everything they get as a result of this.

Bortles is 10X the QB Hundley ever was. Now if Bortles had never set foot in Green Bay you might have been able to convince me that Hundley would have been the better choice but it would have taken a lot of beer. Since Bortles was in camp and has familiarity with the playbook there is no way in hell you would ever be able to convince me Hundley would have been the better choice.

Still have to wonder how many of his teammates knew he wasn't vaccinated. If some didn't know, are their opinions of their leader now any different?

I don't think anyone wanted Hundley. Was just kind of a discussion point of who was available. More of a joke really. No amount of beer would make me want to bring in Hundley.

If Rodgers was following the unvaccinated rules as MLF stated in the press conference then his teammates knew he was not vaccinated. Regardless, worst case scenario, he's out this week and fines are handed out.

I am surprised some people didn't say "Tim Boyle", although he is with the Lions and on IR.

If GB runs the ball and eats the clock keeping Mahomes off the field we stand a very good chance of beating KC. Doesn't matter who the QB is, Love just has to not do anything dumb this week.

LOL and yet the media(and some on here) calls for his head just because he is not vaccinated.

I was a Hundley supporter until he priced his worth/unworth. Hopefully we don’t get this desperate!
I’m also not even a fan of Bortles. The guy led teams who lost 2 out of every 3 games he started in. Obviously it’s very low probability he gets meaningful action either way.

I am a believer in keeping 3 QB’s all year is that the PS # is higher.
(1 protected on PS or similar) and not playing the shell game at backup when one is out. That way we don’t miss a beat when these situations arise. It makes it super easy to elevate a QB to backup to starter on game day while simply passing him in the hallway. Verses this calling people out of retirement.

You are forgetting a big difference between the Saints situation and the Packers. Brees never wanted out of New Orleans.
i think you have that twisted around. rodgers said he wanted to play his entire career with the packers. it was murphy and gute who made the decision for aaron to move on.

but at least we will get a chance to see if love really is the new face of the franchise sooner than we thought we would. i think this is a very winnable game and a good test.

I’m going to disagree with that more because it’s only partially correct. Love will be forced to put points on the board Sunday. He can’t just go into a shell.

The Chiefs have the #6 scoring Offense in the NFL (26pts/ game) combined with homefield advantage and a smart coaching staff. If I’m KC I’m loading the box and stopping the Run, because it’s quite obvious we (GB) will try your (and mine) approach, which is Run and run some more to keep this a lower score game by killing the clock. KC will want to get some defensive 3 and outs to prevent this.

Also, Our Defense would have to have an exceptional game again. Exceptional against KC meaning <=24pts area and +1 or better takeaways.
We can’t afford to have takeaways and Love and our RB’s needs to be very careful with the ball. The approach is to emphasize at punching at the ball when tackling and last night both teams were successful at causing very intentional and multiple fumbles.
We absolutely can’t give KC a short field.

We also can’t hurt ourselves in those 26+ penalty yards plays (at that time thank Malik) on ST. ST needs to be very disciplined Sunday and not give the KC Offense any free help. I’d make it abundantly clear to our ST unit that I’d rather have zero return yards than an infraction.

If Love doesn't prove his worth then we just keep Aaron. Upper management knows he will bring in crowds no matter if we go to the SB.

If Love can manage this game effectively and avoid any stupid turnovers, I think this is a game the Packers win. The defense will keep them in this game. The game plan should be to run the rock. If the Packers do exactly what they did against the Cardinals, the result should be similar. Keep the game simple. Unless we are up or down by a wide margin, I do not want to see Love take any unnecessary risks. I am fine with any outcome of this game assuming the narrative is not "Love lost the game." Love should not be given an opportunity to lose this game *enter MLF*

I'm thinking they will load the box. Only way to have them stop doing it is beat them with passes. Then when they change; we can go back to the run. I don't think we can beat out heads against the wall trying to run. We'll have to throw it to loosen them up and so we have to give Love protection. I hope he does not have to run too much.

KC would be stupid not to anticipate a run game. I'm sure Ari predicted a run game but still couldn't stop the Pack run. So i'm assuming Packs will run but will surprise KC with some nice run plays that will destroy the box.

KC 34 Packs 33 1/2

D*mn that is harsh, dude. It's funny how many of us anticipated he was going to be a star but then saw his first outing. oh man...buyers remorse

I was hopeful after the 1st preseason. The gum chewing affected his concentration I think.

I don't think it's just because he is not vaccinated. Sure some will hold that alone against him but I think for many it is the deceptive, or at least perceived deceptive, way he went about it. Saying he was "immunized" when asked if he was vaccinated for example. Not wearing a mask when unvaccinated players were required to do so. I don't know the exact protocols for unvaccinated players so I cant speak to that but there were plenty of times he was seen maskless. Was he following the proper protocol or not. Many think he was not. League investigation will determine that.

While I would rather this happened now VS happening during the playoffs, you do know that this doesn't change the fact that it can happen again to this team right? Maybe the thought of having to sit out 10 games like their QB had to, will sway some guys into getting vaccinated.
I'm pretty sure the guys who haven't had it have reasons that weigh more than 10 missed days (NOT games) with the team.
