I think the other thing that is underrated and does not show up in the stat book is MLF's game plans. He will have something ready for the Chiefs. My guess is they will attack the middle. Easy slant passes, TE screens, lots of movement prior to the snap, and then run the football a lot. I'm interested to see what love has.

Side note, I've mentioned it and have seen it mentioned, at least the virus is going through the team right now and not in the playoffs. GPG!
I think Packer fans are going to be reminded as to just how great of a game manager at the LOS Aaron Rodgers is. I hope I am wrong, but its going to be night and day out there between the 2 QB's.

While I would rather this happened now VS happening during the playoffs, you do know that this doesn't change the fact that it can happen again to this team right? Maybe the thought of having to sit out 10 games like their QB had to, will sway some guys into getting vaccinated.

My main point is that it won't happen to Rodgers or Adams. You do know how viruses work right? The whole antibody thing?

I am super stoked for this game.

Not because I'm convinced that we will see a win, but I'm eager to see what Love looks like.

There's a good chance that he's the future, or at least the first attempt at finding the guy for the future.

If one plugs in any starter and backup, isn't that going to be pretty accurate? There are certainly times, even seasons, when the backup wins, but not because he looks like the starter.

Sadly, I do know how this particular virus works and have lost a few friends/family to it. I also know a few people who have had it twice. So just because Rodgers and Adams have had it, they aren't immune to getting it again, especially a variant.

If the lowly New York Giants can score 17 points against KC at Arrowhead I think our OL will open holes for our RBs and Love can go play action.
Well, hopefully our run game will be better than what NY did against KC. Crossing toes.

I'm not sure what your question is. Are you saying that other teams have won with backup QB's, so why shouldn't the Packers?

While I do think the Packers could potentially win on Sunday with Love at QB, if I was betting on the game, I would take the Chiefs and the now -7.5 spread. I think that spread goes up to 10 by game time, after the news of no Rodgers really sinks in.

Anyway, we will get a small snapshot on Sunday of what life without Rodgers looks like. I hope Love squashes my fears that he just isn't ready yet. No matter what happens, I think the discussion right after the game isn't going to be strictly about the game results, but will eventually center around Love/Rodgers and the Packers future with or without 1 of them.

this imho is the whole problem with vaccines. they are designed to handle specific viruses that in most cases have mutated long before the vaccine is readily available. sometimes they still work, but often they do not.

That is almost like someone back in 1920, when they started wearing leather like helmets in football, saying they didn't protect your head very well, so why wear them. No, but they were much better than nothing and as they were used and studied, they were developed into even better protection.

A seatbelt doesn't save everyone's life, but that isn't a reason to not wear one. A seatbelt has probably caused a death, by trapping someone in a burning car, but that isn't a reason not to wear one. I think you see where I am going on this.....we should all fly safely to K.C......since flying is safer than driving. ;)

Man, the virus doesn't just spread through the air. It spreads to the internet and the Green Bay Packers Forum! It infects everything!

Look, just like MLF said. No one is going to feel sorry for the Packers that they lost Rodgers for the week. It's go time regardless of who is suiting up. I still think the Packers are in a good position to win this game. Hopefully, all the virus stuff this week doesn't distract them from the game. Regardless, it is a nonconference opponent. It won't be the worst thing in the world to lose to the Chiefs. Again, I still think they have a good shot at winning. Love will have a full receiving corp and healthy running backs. I'm excited to see how he does and how this game unfolds. GPG!

Is ANOTHER thread getting contaminated with this BS Covid argument? Please take ANYTHING related to your Covid bickering over to the "Rodgers has Covid" thread which I've already UNwatched. Thank you! Now, can we get back to the game on Sunday afternoon?

Speaking of back-ups...Tom Matte recently died. He took over for Unitas and I think an ex Badger for the Baltimore Colts for games and playoffs in 1963. Packers were fortunate to beat them in the playoffs.

I still feel the Packers still have their biggest decision to make in the calling months on
understanding if Rodgers is commented to the Packers or is he still seeking to play
elsewhere.

We will see after this game. Rod is bringing too much drama to Green Bay and if Love does a good job i'm sure they will reconsider things about Rod in a heartbeat.

and figured you were referring to Love and AR. All I was trying to get across is that ANY starter and backup in the league are going to be very different. Sometimes that hasn't been a problem, sometimes even an advantage, but I think it's always true.

I don't know. ARod has been playing great and with a great attitude. People all over (including NFL) have been getting covid. It just happens. Hopefully it won't affect him physically too much. Whether we move on or not is gonna depend imho on contract issues. I have said before, I don't think it is impossible that we could do something like the Saints did with Breeze. And Tampa Bay seems to be doing with Brady.

Got ya. I was merely saying that we will be going from the 2020 MVP to a late first round "rookie" QB, with no NFL real game experience. I think the QB play will be night and day between them. Even more glaring than the difference we saw between Favre and Rodgers. Probably more like what we saw from Hundley or Kizer when Rodgers went down.

Can we win behind Love? Sure, but I don't think its going to be a win BECAUSE of Love being the QB. I think it will be a win because of things like turnovers, the defense, mistakes by the other team or a dominating running game.

MLF needs to be at his best in play calling on Sunday. Also, something that under Rodgers, he hasn't had to completely be.

Thanks for pointing out that the QB play will not be anywhere near as good with Love as it is when Rodgers is behind center. I am not sure if the Love or Bortles question or this nugget lose the internet for the day contest.

We could do that if it hadn’t been locked. This is my biggest reason for saying it should have remained open.

Yes, sadly your level of intelligence is daunting compared to the rest of us. Thank you for the reminder, I really hope it helps you to sleep better at night. You made my day, with all your wisdom and intellect.

Aside from the Covid incident, Rod era is over. Hopefully he continues his success this year. However, I don't think we should go the route of the Saints as you can tell they are now having problems with their QB situation after investing in Brees all these years without having a promising successor. So if Love does a great job i'm betting Packers will be doing some serious changes.

You are comparing 2 QB's that are 4-5 years apart? Why not compare him to Tom Brady or Brett Favre? Personally, I don't really think you compare Rodgers to any of those guys, since all 4 players are independently different from the others in so many ways, including the team dynamic.

The Packers will make their decisions based on Aaron himself, Love/other QB options and probably the Salary Cap.

Much appreciated. Now in your defense based on others point of views on other subjects (defense, wr depth, draft, salary cap, that other one) maybe I am wrong to jump to the conclusion that something as obvious as that does not need to be pointed out. I sincerely apologize.

Agreed…however this latest incident could very well be an indication of things the Packers management has been dealing with quietly for quite some time. I suspect they are now not so secretly praying that Love shows some spark, and that they can legitimately plan to move on. Rodgers is an incredible talent on the field, but I’m not sure how much more the front office wants to deal with.
