Mahomes has officially been ruled out.
Mixed emotions on this. The fan of the NFL would have loved to see Mahomes/Rodgers, but the Green Bay Packers fanatic in me says that the Packers clearly have a better chance to win against a Mahomes-less Chiefs team.

It's all about stockpiling as many wins as possible to hopefully force the NFC playoffs through Lambeau.

In a weird way I kinda wished we could’ve played them at full strength. KC is such a talented team that it would’ve been interesting to see 2 elite QBs battle it out.
But I guess it wasn’t meant to be. I hope Mahommes makes a full recovery soon, the leagues better having him competing in it. He’s just such a high caliber athlete.

As long as he is ready to go against the Vikings next week and the Bears in December, I am perfectly ok with this news. We will get to see him against the Packers in the Super Bowl, that is soon enough! :D

I get that. I know we always want to get a Win. But in a weird way, I kinda wished we could’ve played them at full strength. Which in this case wouldn’t happen either way. KC is such a talented team that it would’ve been interesting to see 2 elite QBs battle it out. Plus I don’t want to become that MN fan that wants to win by players being injured.

I couldn't care less. We've lost MORE than our fair share due to players being injured. If it happens to work the other way around once in a while, why should that matter? I think we beat them with or without the guy anyway.

Undeerstand. But I'll take a win any way I can. Not really our fault for Mahomes injury, but it's a gift I'd take gladly.
Let's face it, a lot of which teams are successful each year depends on which teams manage to stay healthy. This year, we've been fortunate enough to stay reasonably healthy, but we've had our share of bad luck in the past.

I would never hope for someone to get injured, but since Mahomes has already been hurt, I'm fine if they want to rest him another game. It may not be the best indicator of where our team is at, but sometimes it's better to be lucky than good, and getting wins and a bye and home field advantage can be of great importance. People talk about the Patriots beating up on their crummy division, but look what they've parlayed it into.

I was looking at KC's stats and comparing them to ours, and they're a lot more similar to ours than I would have expected. What really surprised me was that we are in the bottom half of the league rushing, I would have thought we were doing better than that.

I’d ask that same question. If you think we’d beat them either way, why would you want someone out due to injury? Seems like a weird way to display your confidence in our team. No thanks. I want to win the right way and that isn’t hoping players don’t heal.

It’s certainly your opinion, but hoping on players to be out injured is a slippery slope IMO. That said,
I know I’m likely in the minority and I’m 100% comfortable with you having all the popularity accolades of hoping for our opponents to injured or that they won’t heal swiftly.
Just remember those players are someone’s Husband, Son, Father, Brother, Uncle, Cousin, Best Friend, Coach, Teammate, Pastor, Hero... For me Id like nothing more than beating him on both feet.
Thank You for the question though, I once would’ve agreed with you.

No doubt man. Both teams are very similar, statistically. However, KC has realized MONSTER spikes in pass rush, having just last week taken Flacco down for 8 sacks, and his backup for 1.

As for our rushing stats, figure half of our games 1-3 we were just learning how to run block within the new scheme, against some of the top Ds.

I’m looking forward to seeing the Packers exact their own will in the run game tomorrow night. Could be really fun, and we may get to see the magic that Dexter Williams brings to the table. He’s a decisive one-cut and go runner, with incredibly deceptive acceleration. This dude can break off some big runs. I’m hoping to see him show why Gutes drafted him. Would love to see improved pass pro from him, ... uh, ... with Tim Boyle under C.

I hate to be the one to sh*t in your cornflakes, but I think its going to be awhile before we see what Dexter Williams can do. Not sure if he isn't understanding the playbook or what the deal is, but the Packers don't seem to trust him enough to play him. Pretty apparent when they activate Tra Carson for a game or 2 and then cut him when Williams is healthy again, that Juice has more to learn to earn playing time.

because, i'd rather lose to them at full strength than beat them without their very good QB and get a false sense of where we are as a team.

Wins are tough enough as it is. Nobody felt sorry for us when Rodgers got hurt. They happily took those wins without remorse. We know all too well how life is without our starting signal caller. It isn't pretty.

The best thing for this offense would be to not see him at all this year. JWilliams and Jones are plenty good, and much better. The only way DWilliams will see the field is if they're injured and that's not good for our offense. It was apparent in preseason the kid has some maturing and learning to do. Putting him on the field before he earns will only hurt his development.

I don't apologize for wins :) I'll take them how I can get them. I'd just rather see what this team can do against the Chiefs full strength.

That's a sh*tload of good players. That makes it a must win.
I agree, we have to take advantage of this opportunity, especially since most penciled this in as a loss at the beginning of the season. I'm hopeful, but I haven't forgotten how Capers defense used to make backup quarterbacks look like Hall of Famers. This is still a road game in hostile territory with a rabid fan base.

Hopefully next week Mahomes will be back to dice up the Vikings. This isn't the situation I would hope for in the interest of good sportsmanship, but if we get a few breaks along the way, so be it.

When the heck did I say I wanted him out? I said it DOESN'T BOTHER ME. It's football. Every team has injuries. And what the heck is "winning the right way" anyway? Show me where I said that I hope he doesn't play. Then, when you don't find it, you can apologize for putting words in my mouth.

there's that and two, much better, players ahead of him. backup backups don't play much.

Oh I think we all agree, you play the cards your dealt, and it just is what it is with nothing we can do about it.

I guess to me though, great QBing is still something that you appreciate when you see two of them go head to head. What made beating the 49ers back in the 1990s and the Patriots for that matter fun to watch was Favre went up against two great QBs in Steve Young and Drew Bledsoe and beat them. So ... Yes, there is a certain pride that comes with seeing your QB go up and beat the other guy's QB.
