I can't be too confident that Ben Johnson to Chicago is going to be a sure thing, either. Seemed like in the past he was actually open to the Chicago job and they didn't want to pay what he was asking for. I don't think he's going to be any cheaper this offseason. Will they pay now?

I'd say it's also almost a 99% certainty that Dallas will be looking for a head coach next year. No, he won't get to coach CW and they don't have quite the same weapons, but would he pick Chicago over the biggest brand in football? Jerry is a handful, but it's not like the Bears are known for having great ownership, either...

I'd say there's also a decent chance that Cincy would have an option. Who wouldn't want to see Ben Johnson coaching Burrow and Chase? Jaguars will almost certainly have an opening. Raiders, probably. Saints have an interim currently. Wouldn't be too surprised if the Browns decided to give Stefanski the boot. Jets, of course. Giants? Philly might well sack Sirianni if they fall apart again like last year. As crazy as it sounds, there's even been whispers recently that the 49ers and Shanahan could perhaps part ways...

All that to say, when you consider all the teams that will possibly have a coaching vacancy next year...can we be that confident that Johnson would choose Chicago over all the other options? Yeah, you get to coach a great QB talent and have some interesting weapons on offense, but Chicago historically hasn't paid coaches that well, and don't have the most attractive ownership/management structure above the coach... I just wouldn't be too terribly sure of that happening just yet.
In spite of the ownership, Chicago has actually got some talented players. Yes they need a new HC. But as long as the family is still running the show, Chicago won't be a prime coaching destination.

That's kind of what I mean - is the opportunity to coach those players enough to outweigh the other stuff working against Chicago (and/or working in favor of other teams)? I am not too confident it is.

This is all pretty accurate. My best guess is much of our secondary woes have to do with our CB1 missing substantial amount of time. Couple that with players learning new roles that 1st half season. I’m surprised we’re still #10 rated on D it feels like we’re #20 rated some days.

Still I would imagine if you went around the NFL and pulled their CB1 the bulk of teams would drop in rankings. JA is 10 snaps last week shy of playing in 6 of 10 contests. I’m also not sure he’s been healthy in those 6. I’d argue not all of them.

So yes our CB room is not deep. But couple it with we’re dealt with injuries also and I’m surprised we’re not worse. Stokes hasn’t helped in 5 of 10 games he has 1 Tackle or 0 tackles, he has
0 FF
0 TFL
O INT
O PD
O QB hits
0 Sacks

He’s so invisible.. I can’t even get him to draw a holding or PI call!

How is that even possible? Eric had 14 Pass Defensed in his Rookie season. In the 22 games since he has…
1 TFL
0 INT
0 Sacks
0 FF/FR
0 QB hits
O PD

It’s like he’s not on the field statistically. It’s almost dumbfounding how he’s disappeared
Which is why Nixon played a ton of snaps on the outside vs Chicago and Bullard was in the slot. They just don't want Stokes on the field.

And honestly, if the Hail Mary doesn't happen, we might be seven and three right now, but that would also mean Eberflus would be back next year so I'll take this scenario even though missing the field goal sucked really bad. It's only gonna hurt till I watch San Francisco wipe you guys out.
The Hail Mary game against the Commanders? Let's say the Bears win that. They would be 5-5, not 7-3. (It would also help if your CB actually participated in that play instead of prematurely taunting Washington fans. Oh wait, he did participate, he tipped the ball to the Washington receiver. That was classic.)

I guess that's the same logic that got you to reason that Williams would be OROTY, MVP, and MVP of the SB.

And if the highlight of your season hinges on the Packers losing to the Niners this Sunday, well..... never mind.

Best young QB on rookie contract.
Intact top 5 defense.(def top 10 for argument sakes)
3 (most likely) top 35 draft picks one being top 5-10 the other 2 are (prob 33-38)
Deep playoff run/or SB win..... the Brass will have to pay what he wants.
Do you really think Ben Johnson would take the Dallas job over what's available in Chicago? Really the only thing wrong with our team is confidence and idiot coaches. Our future is bright once we cut out da tumors.
Of course I will concede. It's not 100% lock that we will get Ben Johnson but all things being equal. I'd say there's a 75% chance that he's our coach next year.

And again if we win that Green Bay game, none of this might happen so again , 11 in a row hurts, but you've actually done us a solid.

Haha.. I'm obviously saying if we win Wash... we don't take the hangover into the next game(which they gave up 50 yrd run as time ran out in the 1st half which led to the loss in that game and the Pats game) and if we beat the Pats and we are 7-2 going into our game with y'all instead of 4-5 but again....ifs and buts and candy and nuts and etc....you're helping my team by the eventual subtraction of Eberflus.
I'm just being honest......who's gonna have the better five-year outcome? Your team or mine? I'd say we're in a much better position......even if Da Bears hired my dog as head coach I think we'll be better. Caleb has been incredible for a rookie.
My guys been in the league for five months your quarterback for five years mine has already had three game-winning drives snatch from him by the coaching staff while yours continues to throw stupid interceptions in the red zone.
I wouldn't give a plug nickel for GB's future the next 10 years.

We have seen statements like this from quite a few North Division rivals fans. Living in Michigan, I have listened to Lions fans utter these same sentiments about GB for years. The Packers have overall dominated the division for so long, that it's the only thing they can/could hang their hat on. The satisfaction they get from a Packers loss is the same or even better than a victory by their own team.

Now I do throughly enjoy seeing/hearing when our North rivals lose, however my focus is all about whether the Packers are winning or losing their own games.

I'm sorry didn't and your season two years ago by not letting you make the playoffs and beating you at home then they crushed you last year and beat you this year as well so what's that about? Listening to Detroit fans be wrong?

Caleb, the Lions have been the doormat of the division for ever, and I've been watching the Packers for over 50 years, and have lived in Michigan my whole life. You don't have a clue what I hear in my home state every year when it comes to the Lions and Packers. The Lions are the cream of the crop right now, but my statement isn't just from comments over the last couple years. We did thoroughly kick their *** on Thanksgiving last year in their house, and they were crying about it for weeks.

And what's funny about the guy bringing up Detroit is I've often thought we were about two years behind where Detroit was and now it's funny......we play you the last game of the season in your house(just like Detroit two years ago) and you might have to beat us to get into the playoffs (just like two years ago with Detroit) and wouldn't it be awesome if it's meaningless to us but we beat you.....you dont get into the playoffs(like Aaron Rodgers last game in Lambo)and then still have great draft picks, get Ben Johnson and a beautiful Future awaits us starting next year wouldn't that be wonderful?

My buddy and I are hoping to make a road trip for a Red Wings game next month. Neither of us have been to Little Ceasars Arena yet. Just wish they were playing a little better.

Of course I'm a Blackhawks fan because Daddy is from Chicago so I've always rooted for everything that he did but it was criminal to take the Wings out of the WC. At least now we could have a Redwings Blackhawks, Stanley Cup, though.
I'm curious Wisconsin doesn't have Route for I imagine it's either the Red Wings, the Blackhawks or the North stars in the old days now the wild after their return. (absolutely criminal they allowed them to go to Dallas. It's just like them letting Cleveland not have a football team when they went Balt....It's just wrong.)

The Wings haven't made the playoffs since the move to the East. The Blackhawks/Red Wings rivalry was one of the best ever. Hawks are now the only Original 6 franchise in the West.... should have kept those two teams together just for that reason alone. Gone to Chicago a couple times, vs Red Wings and vs Bruins, I really enjoy watching live hockey.

In Kentucky, we used to have a minor-league team that played at Rupp Arena and my dad loves hockey too so we had season tickets right on the glass and even though it was just minor-league hockey it was fantastic!!!
That and because me and my dad didn't have the greatest relationship while I was growing up, it was real nice to spend time with him as adults.

I think polls has done a good job, but is too enamored and too close of a friend with Eberflus to have a rational look at the scenario.
What polls are you talking about? The polls have been up and down on the Bears all year.

Or are you talking about the Bears GM Ryan Poles?

If you are, makes me question just how closely you follow the Bears.

However, if you are going to show up in another teams locker room/forum and start with the smack talk, I only have one thing to say to you.
There has always been a tradition of sorts in sports for "good natured" smack talk between fans of different teams. I have always tried to avoid participating in this. My observation is this "good natured ribbing" might start out that way, but at some point then someone says something particularly nasty. It reminds me very much of the way political disagreements in the US have become so toxic, and nearly violent. I would prefer people conduct themselves with more respect for each other.

Yeah, I talk smack but I don't think I've ever been directly rude anybody without provocation and even with still don't think I've ever said anything or called anyone anything that would be uncouth?
This is a gentleman's disagreement about how the end of a game turned out. This days conversation I've been talking with another guy about living in Michigan and hockey teams so that's the problem with the country Nowadays is people are too sensitive and a little disagreement makes everybody lose their cool or blow their top when you're gonna run into a lot of things in life that you don't like and you better learn how to hand it and conduct yourself or you're gonna be pretty miserable in life .

For what it's worth, I was making a general statement, not talking specifically about you. I dislike the smack talking and choose not to engage in it, but that's my personal preference. I'm not going to go cry under my bed if someone does it.

It's the same situation as Dallas. Dallas might be worse because Jerry is the owner and GM and, let's face it, getting up there. The NFL has quickly morphed into a young person's game, from players to coaches.

I suppose Dallas is a better location for a HC candidate than Chicago. At least Jerry knows something about football. He does assemble decent talent year after year. He picks bad HCs and then sticks with them for years. Can't fault him on loyalty.

Chicago? I don't know why a good HC candidate would want to go anywhere near that team. Same with the Jets.
