I was all for the 4th down attempt against Carolina. Not last night. Different circumstances.

hadn’t moved the ball on offense up to that drive at all. On the road against a great defense. And our defense was doing a really good job. Get those first points and put the D back out there to make a stop.

While I admit, a FG is never a sure thing, but neither is picking up a first down, nor is an eventual TD, if you pick up the first down. I think a lot of people fall into the mindset "had we picked up the first down, we score a TD". No, you still have to get the ball into the endzone and you might very well be lining up to kick a FG 3 plays later, if you don't turnover the ball. Take your shot at 3 points there and be happy with getting on the board 7-3 against a good defense.

Dud: Tramon was mostly invisible again. How many tackles so far this year? Maybe he should cover someone for once and help our the other defensive backs. With Tramon in there it's like playing defense with only 10 men. Where is the veteran skills and knowledge?
Advice find defensive backs in free agency after they have proven themselves lIke Amos.. (not Tramon). Don't waste another draft pick, although Savage and Alexander are OK. But look at all the busts we have had with high draft picks.

Martinez can tackle that's his strength. Thank you. Not his fault that we need a linebacker next to him that has speed to cover.

Is the offense that bad or is San Francisco defense that good? No trickery with our play calling. Gheez always snapping the ball with no time left. Did Graham play at all?

The Tramon bashing is nuts because he plays a really good season. Being invisible is more like a compliment for a DB because that means that you got your side under control. Criticise King, not Tramon. The old man played solid. I agree that they shouldnt draft another DB, FA is the way to go here although I am not sure how the FA class will be.

9ers defense is that good but Packers offense isnt that good either. The WRs are trash, outside Adams, and for some reason MLF and Rodgers completely ignore Aaron Jones, the guy that saved the Packers in october while Adams was injured. Its insane how they cant get a good offense while having a good OL, Davante Adams, Aaron Jones and Jamaal Williams. The offense isnt loaded but there are weapons. They just dont use them properly

I don't think they can justify too many more resources being spent on the secondary, especially when they have other more glaring needs; ILB, DL, WR, TE and OL. Make your front 7 better and the guys we currently have playing in the secondary just get that much better.

IMO I thought the players played hard. The Packers were just out-coached and out-manned. Chris C. commented a couple of times that Lynch made it his mission to put together a scary defensive line and he has one. Matt truly looked like a Rookie head coach last night. Shanahan knew exactly what to do and how to do it. MLF looked lost a couple of times.

My biggest frustration with the offense is Aaron waiting so long to snap the ball. Why he has to wait until the clock hits zero before he calls for the ball is beyond me. Its' obvious that he still has a lot of learning to do.

I also think that they need to get younger and beefier players on the OL. Players that attack the DL rather than just trying to block them. I hope like heck they get someone to replace Bulaga. I know they have tried but he is just too beat up.

Bottom line, they've done pretty well for a first time head coach and learning a new system. They have a long way to go.

I just hope they can beat the Vikings. I can't stand them.

MLF is over his head and our team is soft. Look at the three teams ahead of us in the standings, no way we get by those three to a SB.

Aaron Jones in October: 22 catches, 280 yards, 3 TDs
Aaron Jones in November: 1 catch, -1 yard, 0 TDs

Stop trying to force Adams in.

He is credited with 19 solo tackles so far.
You missed the pass break up in the middle of the field? And stopping the ball b4 a first down?

It would be nice to have a bulldozing line like we had with Ahman Green and Favre back in the day. That line was crazy, without looking I think that was back in the early Chad Clifton/Mark Tausch days. I remember them cramming the ball down the throat of the Bucs amazing defensive line the year after the Bucs won the superbowl. The run game was at times unstoppable. Then there was a zone blocking shift and we kind of lost that philosophy. The blueprint for a crazy offensive line is definitely out there, see what New England has as well as Dallas. Those teams have ridiculous lines seemingly year after year.

But the current personnel cant handle any TE in the league and Burks gets no snaps to show if he can do it. At least give him some snaps to see if he can do it or not. They have to do something against this and "ignoring" personnel doesnt help there even if they dont seem to perform that well in training etc. It cant get worse than this.

The coaching staff is watching Burks practice every single day. I guarantee that if he would present an upgrade covering tight ends he would receive snaps.

King -- totally blew coverage on Kittle TD. Embarrassing. Packers tied up so many draft picks on DBs and this is a starting corner? Better sign more free agents.

The Packers might not have enough cap space to address the secondary in free agency next offseason.

If he would do quick passes he wouldn't be running for his life. Against their pass rush he can't hold the ball for 3 seconds. He has to make a quick read and throw, 1.5 seconds.

Once again, the receivers are hardly open after 1.5 seconds to throw them the ball.

I am really confused about JK Scott. The guy was an absolute stud through the first seven games. He was averaging 49.2 yards a punt. Maybe that wasn't sustainable, but he has plummeted. The last four games he has averaged 36.5. The weather was perfect last night.

Not our biggest problem, and punting wouldn't have made much a difference last night, but I'm a little concerned.

Actually Scott struggling has made a significant difference with the team having to deal with terrible field position way too often.

Once again, yes they are.

I don't see much difference in our WRs getting open as just a few years ago. Or other successful QBs playing now.

No, they don't have two steps on the CB. But they are open enough to complete a pass.

I agree there are plays on which Rodgers should get rid of the ball way faster. But a lot of times he doesn't have somehow to throw to before the protection breaks down.

Yes, it’s made a difference in some games. That’s why I specified in my post that it was frustrating against the 49ers, but wouldn’t have mattered in the end because you seldom lose a game by 30 points because of punting.

Scott performing at a higher level might have made it a closer game though.

No, you don't often win a game you lose by 30 because of punting, but it definitely contributes. This was one of those games where the ball started rolling downhill and they just couldn't stop it. The 49er's are good, no doubt about it, but I don't think they're really 30 points better. We've been on the winning side and losing side of these games. I know enough to know the final score in this game was probably accurate of what happened in the game, but not very accurate in terms of the quality of both teams.

But early on a few plays differently and this game probably ends much differently too. Not saying they'd win. But our defense was doing well actually. but you take any 2 teams and put on at the 50 consistently and one inside their 20 consistently to start drives for a half of football, it makes a difference. It makes a difference in how you call a defense. It makes a difference in how you can call an offense. stats have historically shown one to be probable of a drive ending in points and one with no points.

a good punt can give your defense a chance to make a difference. It can give your offense a chance to get better field position and start again. Between some of those early penalties and the punting, it had a big impact on the overall game.

we don't have a completely dominating offense or defense. We have a good offense and good defense. You can win with that. You can win a super bowl with that. But you have to play well every play. When you don't have a special teams unit that can spark anything, you have to make the most of every opportunity.

It's like our WR corps. They aren't great, they could be better with just what we have. But they aren't consistent enough. Allison "could" be just fine as a WR. But he seems to drop one or 2 every game he should have. They may not seem like a lot, but when you're not great and can make up for a less than average play with a great play down the road you need to be consistent. Dropping a ball for a 1st down on 3rd is a drive killer obviously. it something this team can't do.

Just like the rest of the special teams unit is not great, you can't be punting the ball 30 yards on a change of possession. That's crap. you have to be better. and consistently so.

Certainly. We probably disagree on the percentage, but there are some plays when he has no options due to the rush. As you complete those short plays the DL as to turn and run. After a quarter or three they will tire a bit and be more manageable.

I feel like everyone is saying the season is over in one loss, To the best team or second best team in the league. Yeah we lost horrible but it’s not the tournament. You use these type of games to improve yourself. Had we won, there would be no discussions on how to really improve the team. We see our weaknesses and have a chance to improve them. Losses are just important as winning. The goal is just to not lose most games. MLF didn’t have a loss like this yet, now he has a chance to self evaluate himself and the whole staff. I have seen enough of our team to know we can probably beat every team this year. We just need two things, improve the pass game. It’s not good enough. Spread the ball out more. Take chances deep even if it’s an interception. At least get the defense into as thought that we can potentially throw it. The second is not allow a pass rush to beat us. Yeah it’s hard when a team has that much guys but just allow them to rush. Take a few more steps back and give Rodgers a few more yards to run through a lane. Use the aggressiveness of the d line to our advantage. Just design the play for Rodgers to scramble out the pocket at the onset. I can’t really explain X’s and O’s on here but basically prepare knowing that Rodgers won’t have 2 seconds instead of being surprised at it. But yeah, the loss is not the end of the season, they was better that game but they can make mistakes too. Our defense was pretty solid despite the two big plays. They didn’t drive the field until the game was over. We also held them to no 3rd down conversions for most of the game. I had to reply cause I’m my daily life off here I’m seeing every other team fans talking to me like we just lost a playoff game. We are still on top of our division with that loss. Still have a home playoff game. They were way more desperate to win. Had they lost they would have been number two in their division. I just feel we haven’t played our best football yet cause we never really had our backs against the wall. This lose makes the players coaches and fans really think about how we need to improve. Which is way better than coasting into the playoffs then getting smacked just how we did and not see it coming. At least now we have a vision on what to avoid when we do see them in the playoffs

It can, though the other night, anything short was dropped pretty much immediately. There wasn't much threat in throwing short. They were on everything underneath and we couldn't complete anything long if we even got to the part in the play where it was time to throw it.

But If we're going to take the body shot mentality on offense, which I happen to agree with, other things need to be in place. This team often seems like whenever they need something to happen, they just take their shot, rather than just keep moving the chains. But then I look back at it and we often put ourselves in bad down and distances and a 3 yard pass might result in a 1st down, but most times won't. So do we take our shots downfield knowing that many times it won't work either, but when it does we take a chunk of yards with it? With Rodgers in the past and our WR's I was more inclined to agree with that. every pass had big play potential.

But now, our current set is not consistent enough and our protections aren't great either. I'd lean more towards being conservative early, even if it's a 2 and 8 run the ball again even if it's a run via pass sort of play, do something to just get yards and set stuff up for later. But to do that, you have to be able to rely on your punt game and put your defense in a position to shut someone down and get decent field position. It's hard to play for 10 yards per set of downs in play calling when you know if you don't hit something decent, your punter can't put it past midfield.

You also have to rely that these guys are going to make that play. if you're throwing a 4 yard pass, you gotta get at least 4 yards, you can't waste that down by dropping the ball.

First of all I seriously respect your optimism, I honestly do, but if we do get to the playoffs, we are going to face teams like that every week and on that performance they will rip us a new *******. There was nothing to look optimistic about in that performance, we were always second best. It was over by the first half ending.

I am starting to wonder if a big part of the problem is simply the progressions. He does not have enough time to look and see if his guy is going to be clear deep. That should be the last (or at least not 1st or 2nd) in the progression.

Every play has a hot read. If the defense brings a blitz, at least 1 WR goes the hot route and it's a quick slant or out. Every play at SF should have had a hot route. Rodgers should read the defense and know which matchup/route is hot.

Even if true; it is not working well. I think a solution would be to mix up the progressions. Look at different players first on different plays. Theoretically, everyone is going to be open. And I have seen pics that show that other receivers were open as Rodgers was looking for Adams. Mix it up.

Not to mention we were ranked #32 in 4th down attempt success and playing one of the best D fronts in the league if not the last decade. Even had we converted it didn’t necessarily equate to a TD.

Now had we worked our way down to the 1 yard line? Yeah I’m absolutely going for the TD or pinning them on their goal line and putting 8 in the box and sending 6 on a blitz.
