49ers are making a push for the Super Bowl. They know the back half of their schedule is all about seeding.

We most likely will stay put before the trade deadline, but with ARod only having so many years left we really should explore making this team better now with an established player. I really think Keenan Allen would be a great addition. He is only 27 years old and catches basically everything thrown towards him. You would have two #1 WR's and whole bunch of #3s. It would open up the running game even more and provide ARod and MLF with another amazing weapon. We might even be able to get for less than a #1 draft pick, maybe a #2 and #4.

Personally, I am not looking at someone like Sanu as a replacement for MVS, but a replacement for G-Mo. I still like MVS and his potential, but I think the Packer offense would be much more lethal with Adams-MVS-*insert name of another teams #2-3 WR*

I don't want to replace MVS at all. But unless you are a next level talent, it seems like WR take a few years to get going and I don't think Adams being out is going to help him get to that level quicker. Easy to say without Adams someone has to step up as that #1 but I think it is the opposite. Having another piece to supplement Adams and MVS would be ideal. ESPECIALLY since the TE position is a big shuffle.

I think they may be tanking regardless of choice lol. Flacco just isn’t going to get it done based on what I saw KC do to him.

Broncos, Jets, Dolphins and despite what they claim Bengals....1/4th of AFC is tanking.

Wonder when Green is getting traded and to whom. Hope it's not the Pats.

Sanders being traded to the 49ers along with a 5th round pick in exchange for SF's 3rd and 4th round picks.

I'd have done this personally. 100%. Solid move by the 49ers, a team similar to us exceeding what many expected.

The funny thing is... they can’t all get the number one pick.

Great deal by the broncos. 3rd and 4th for an expiring contract.

I tend to agree with you. I wouldn't be a fan of trading for a WR for a 9+ game rental and than loose him in Free Agency, even taking the comp pick you would get if that happens into consideration.

It's going to take any WR several games to get in sync with Rodgers and the Packer offense. While I do think we need a better 2nd WR, if we are going to invest draft picks, money and time into one, make sure you have him for at least another season.

In my opinion both did well. You give a 3rd/4th and immediately make push to continue winning this year...next year will sort itself out and say you get a 5th or a 4th in comp pick value....trade evens up even more long term.

Why on Earth would they trade Allen?

As much as I like AJ Green, he stays hurt. I say roll with what we got at WR. I’d like a good DL, or ILB. I’m looking forward to some of our hurt players coming back. I have high hopes for Sternberger, but know this year is a long shot.

Always nice to get players back, but in the same breath, you have to remember that we will probably lose a few to injury along the way. Not to jinx things, but besides Adams, this team really has been very fortunate on the injury front in comparison to some other teams in the NFL.

I think that basically puts AJ Green out of the question. If Sanu is "worth" a 2nd round pick, I'd be shocked to see AJ go for just a 1st. Even coming off injury.

Kind of think Sanu's value decreases in New England as he's just one of the 7 pass catching weapons they have now. But playing defense against them won't be that fun.

isn’t Sanu still under contract though for a season or two? I believe AJ green is a free agent this offseason, adding to the fact that he hasn’t played a game this season, and I would be surprised if he fetched better than a second rounder.

A.J. Green (and a few others like Corey Davis, Davante Parker, etc.) only really make sense to me as trade options if Adams is out a lot longer than we anticipate. Because when Adams is back, he's never leaving the field. And MVS is bringing a deep threat to this offense that you can't take off the field. So the position that needs to be filled is in the slot. Obviously any receiver can line up in the slot on occasion, but I don't think any of these options are coming in to just be your slot wide receiver.

Why on Earth would they trade Allen?

The Chargers are at a crossroads and are currently at 2-5. Philip Rivers is on the last year of his deal. Melvin Gordon has already said he is leaving. Keenan Allen has 1 year remaining on his contract and is one of the pieces that they have that would still fetch a big payout. He has started to be mentioned as a possible trade target if the price is right.

I'm just mentioning him because I'd like to actually see us go out and get some big time help to push a few Super Bowl wins over the next 5 years before ARod retires and we start looking for our next QB. 2 Super Bowl wins in 27 years of Hall of Fame QB time is not enough.

AJ Green can be used as a slot option the way the cards would use Fitzgerald. Cincy put him in the slot often last season where he thrived, he would be a massive upgrade over Geronimo in that role.

AJ Green isn't a guy I would want to see the Packers go after, for the following reasons:
  • 31 years old
  • hasn't practiced or played a down this season and nobody knows when he will be ready
  • has missed 20 games and counting since 2016.
  • prorated share of his contract would be around $6M for the remainder of the season
  • in last year of his contract
  • speculation that Bengals want at least a 1st Rd pick for him
Unless the Bengals are willing to let him go super cheap, which I have read they aren't, this wouldn't be worth investing much more than a 4th or 5th round pick in. If Green was healthy and playing, I might feel different, because he has always been a great WR.

I've always liked Green, he's a down the field threat. I don't see him doing "slot" things like we might need a guy to do slot things and staying healthy. another thing to consider, he has nice stats, but Cincy has thrown him the ball an absolute TON pretty much his entire career. He's been a very targeted receiver over the years, he should be the one with a lot of highlights. I just don't think he's the type of receiver we need, unless Adams is not coming back and Green is completely healthy.
