Ready For Seattle

I get what you are both saying, but does that make Brooks and Dial chopped liver? Or are you both saying, it is hard to find quality depth on just the OL at the juncture of the season?

As I've mentioned repeatedly today it's close to impossible to sign a reliable veteran offensive lineman that has started in the league for several years to be a backup. While quality depth players receive a significant amount of snaps at other positions that's not the case on the OL with teams playing their starters for the entire game. I definitely don't consider Brooks or Dial to be chopped liver by any means.

I think you meant fowl though. But I enjoy reading your posts. Although a lifelong Packer fan, I am also a Badger fan and loved Russell. Still do and even though I want us to always beat you guys, if we/when we lose in the playoffs the one person I want to see continue on then becomes RW.

Just reiterating some sentiments from above about this game being important. Aside from Chicago we play some pretty decent teams to start the season. Coming out 1-0 against Seattle could set the tone for first half of this season not to mention it would get us 1 week closer to getting some players back full strength (e.g, Adams, Biegel, Barclay etc..)

With Adams having missed most of training camp and Biegel close to the entire offseason program as well I definitely don't expect either to have a huge impact in 2017. While Barclay might currently be the Packers most reliable backup offensive lineman I hope the team won't need him on the field all season.

Nor did Pete Carroll. Then again, it possibly was THE call that finally pushed the league into getting the "real" refs back out there.

Yep, the game that tipped me over the edge for having hatred for Seattle. I was there at game with son. Let's just say the ending was disgusting. Thank God I don't live there anymore.

Paybacks are a ***** is all I can say. :)

The Packers were able to sign Brooks and Dial without giving up a draft pick at all. That might work bringing in an offensive lineman as well but as mentioned before I don't believe a decent veteran is fond of sitting on the bench.
Sure, but I made that point specifically in regards to trading for a guy - and unless you think we can find the equal quality backup on the street as we would on somebody else's bench, I'm not sure what you're getting at.

Or sitting on the Packer roster at the moment. ;)

The loss of Sitton, Lang and Tretter in a 6 month time frame, with only the signing of Evans, has thinned out the OL, something that was considered an area of strength and having decent depth for years.

Definitely. But fans still get on TT for not bringing these guys back. Pay Tretter and Lang, Sitton, then you can't sign an Ahmad Brooks or extend Lane's contract, or keep the best of next year's Packers free agents to be. The NFL is set up for parity - salary cap, draft order, waiver order all work against successful teams. TT has done a remarkable job getting us to the playoffs, keeping us out of salary cap hell, etc, year after year. There, now I feel better.

Still don't know if coffee and bacon are good or bad for me. Seems to change every two years. Might be off topic and irrelevant, but at least I'm boring.

agree. I make it easy and I'll stick to beer whether it's bad or good, I just know that I feel good drinking it while watching football!

Some fans should never drink during a game.
