You could be right and he still has 4 years on a reasonable deal. Remember though, Diggs was on his way out and not happy in Minnesota, so they were able to get a 1st and 3 other picks out of him and a 7th round pick.

One more team ahead of the Packers in need of a WR and the race to dip into "an incredibly deep WR draft".

Long range, it was the right move for Minnesota. But the fact remains that their roster is taking a beating this offseason, and losing Diggs is another big blow that a rookie isn't going to immediately make up for (and odds are, will never make up for).

Vikings did well to get what they did for diggs but that offense doesn't look near as imposing without him on the field.

He had become a virus in the locker room and diva with a HUGE attitude. He needed a new scene and Vikings got a TON for him in comparison to A MUCH MUCH better WR in Hopkins.

I agree but my guess is the Texans are much higher on David Johnson than most. I think they are wrong but it is obvious they view him much closer to David Johnson from two years ago

Better question, not that the Vikings would have traded him to the Packers, but if they would have, do you make that same deal if you are Gute?

Now they could resign some of these guys but right now they are without Joseph, Weatherly, Diggs, Griffen, Rhodes, Waynes, Alexander, Sendejo, and Dan Bailey.

Right now they have cleared spaced with cuts like Joseph, Diggs, and Rhodes and the Cousins restructure but they used like 18 million of that on Harris, a fullback and punter who were on their roster last year. So I would guess they still have some cap space and have extra picks now but they have a lot of wholes especially at cb. They are incredibly thin at wr (worse than us), at cb (probably worst in the league) and dl. Add to that an already bad oline. Lots of pieces to replace there. And on top of that they made Cousins the highest paid qb again - i know that is probably just semantics but it is still insane

Cobb just got 3 years 27 million with 18.75 guaranteed from Houston. Wow. Super happy for Cobb, but that’s reaching quite a bit.

Doesn’t surprise me though given that they traded DHop for a case of beer.

I'm happy for Cobb, but that was due to the incompetence of O'Brien. How the hell that guy is still a head coach and NOW a GM is baffling to me.

The Buffalo Bills acquired the Vikings receiver and a 2020 seventh-round pick in exchange for a 2020 first-round pick (22nd pick), a 2020 fifth-round pick, a 2020 sixth-round pick and a 2021 fourth-round pick

Kind of glad to see Diggs out of the North, but the Vikings I think got the better end of that deal.
I maybe understand the 1st rounder. But losing 3 draft selections and backing up on a 4th selection? Not me said the flea.

I mean kudos to Cobb, but sorry don't see that much left in Cobb. Excellent player and I love the guy, but for that price you know Robby Anderson and Emmanuel Sanders are beaming from ear to ear.

Robby deserves everything he has coming to him. When you really start analyzing what he has done with the QBs he has had and while knowing 100% he was their #1 threat he STILL put up big numbers.

And there are reports that Harris can be had for a mid round pick, so he may be gone too.

Bailey is back already, but Weatherly signed with the Panthers.

100%, yes.

Diggs is 26. He's a stud. And he's a bargain for the next four years.

With Stefon Diggs in house, perhaps the Bills would be interested in moving John Brown? He would bring a 7M cap hit the next two seasons. He's 29.

David Njoku was rumored to be asking for a trade during the season. Cleveland has now made Hooper their TE1. Perhaps he could be had. Very young for a guy entering the end of his rookie deal (23), and very talented.

Would love that trade depending what it cost. I would be fine rolling with Njoku, Sternberger, Lewis and Tonyon at TE.

Where did you see Bailey is back? This is from yesterday - https://clutchpoints.com/vikings-news-minnesota-trying-to-bring-back-dan-bailey/

I would think with the freed up cap Harris will now be signed to an extension

My fault-- they didn't resign Bailey, but they are in contract talks with him. That's what I saw reported.

Rapoport reported that Harris could be had for a mid to late round pick. They most likely tagged him just to get some value out of him instead of letting him walk.

So Hayden Hurst plus a 4th cost Atlanta a 2nd and a 5th. However, Hurst has been a better player more recently and has three years of control left. Njoku is entering a contract year.

So maybe a 3rd straight up? Or a 4th? Hard to say for sure.
