FYI Stokes has pretty much been replaced this season … he is only out there when they have no other choice.

Everyone knows this, even Stokes. Sadly injuries stole what appeared to be a young prospect that arguably had one of the best rookie cornerback years GB has seen.

Duds:

Love: He's again reverted back to the 1st half of last season. If he's gonna play one half of a bad season every year AND get injured the salary is too big, and the decision to make him QB of the future is starting to look questionable.

Notice first I didn’t list Love as a Stud, so I didn’t want you to think I wholly disagree. Love probably should’ve had 1 INT, but he also should’ve had a 50 yard TD pass.
IMO we are seeing baby steps. Love wasn’t 100% until 2 weeks ago. Just like McCaffrey it takes 3-4 games to really get cranked up. Maybe more. This is the first Non INT game he’s had in a long time. I’d like to see him package 2-3 games together without an INT, then we can comfortably say he’s improving.

DBs: I don't care if we're on our 7th and 8th CBs playing against the Chiefs....with as often as Stokes and Alexander are injured our guys are playing enough that this BS play like we saw at times today should no longer be a problem. Unacceptable performance today.

What I figured out is we game planned to stop the Run. It did allow a few chunk plays, but at the cost of throwing in cold weather with a slippery ball. Those fumbles and dropped passes were 100% partly due to a cold ball with moisture. You could see flurries at one point. The air was saturated and very cold and you can’t properly grade Watson or Samuel’s or even a Wobbly pass by Love with confidence. In a Dome, several of those fumbles and drops and errant throws don’t happen imo and that’s including Allen and Love. Even the snap was slippery at times. The fumbles by both QB’s were aided by below average grip on the ball. That will occasionally show up on a stat line and idc if you’re Brock, there would’ve still been drops and throws slightly off target due to temp and moisture.

He saw a receiver underneath that appeared to have separated from the Packer defender and it instinctively caused him to look that way. And with a back up QB like Allen you sometimes think he cannot make that throw. But Kittle can catch even the bad throws.

I'd have to look at it again. All I saw was Kittle running right by him to be all alone in the back of the endzone. One other defender was kind of close but was not going to come over to defend and I think had his back to him. Didn't see Q looking for someone else short. But it seemed a real easy throw and catch to Kittle. Hope I can see the play again just to know better. I would think you should take the guy going to the back of the end zone all alone.

Honestly, I never thought that. He looked like a guy getting beat deep and being lucky to me that first year. Went for every double move.

Stud:
The Referee that called holding on the 90 yard Return. I watched that play several times on replay. It was clear holding by hooking his fingers under his shoulder pads. The critical point of make is I believe it’s better than 50% chance that holding call directly affected the Return. At minimum it slows Samuel down or there is impact.

Most flags on ST do not directly affect the play. I can say with confidence that one did. SF Teams was holding much of the day. Sometimes all the way down the field. It cost them big time.

But it seemed a real easy throw and catch to Kittle. Hope I can see the play again just to know better. I would think you should take the guy going to the back of the end zone all alone.

Yeah if it’s the TD I’m thinking of? I rewatched it last night and critical plays I like to rewatch studying 3-4 players individually. Particularly our OL to see who Won/Lost on Big plays or TD’s. While I might be a novice, I do watch enough film review of guys that are in the know. I have basics understanding of coverage and most plays really aren’t that intricate level.

That was on Safety Evan Williams. He missed the exchange as Kittle passed the LB heading deep into the Paint. Evan bit on a WR on the other side that was hooking outside just for a split second, but that WR was covered up and it was unnecessary. The Center Paint to the hoop was Evans area of responsibility to cover a layup. He did realize this at the last second and nearly made a play on him to knock the ball out. He was even shaking his head he knew he made a mistake.

In a weird way, I’m glad that TD happened in this game as it didn’t cost us anything than the pride of a 38-6 finish.

Honestly, I never thought that. He looked like a guy getting beat deep and being lucky to me that first year. Went for every double move.

Only early in that season was that the case. He excelled early only because his catch up speed allowed it, however that young man grew crazy fast that season and by the end of it wasn't relying solely on his speed to win routes.

For a rookie he excelled in everyway you can hope. Was he a guy that dominated as a rookie like say Sauce did his rookie year or Stingley no, but he for sure showed out.

Love still has not played a great game. The team still has not played complete games up to their capabilities. And yet there's still 8-3. They're not far away from putting it all together. If so, they're going to be very dangerous in January

Not a great game, but another game with a passer rating over 100 (107.7). He has as many TD passes as Mahomes does. Things could be worse.

Q did do some good things. But I could not believe he did not back up to defend that Kittle TD. I mean, he wasn't guarding anyone. Does Hafley tell him to just stay there no matter what?

I do think at some point one has to question his IQ. Does he have the football IQ to play in the middle. I don't think he does and that's fine. Move him to the outside where he can just use his physical gifts and rush the passer. Just my thoughts, but I did think he played and overall good game.
