I see that Anthony Barr is now going to The Jets. This news pleases me. I despise the guy every since he did that cheap hit on Rodgers, plowing him into the ground after he threw away the ball.

I am fine with the middle to upper middle younger guys being signed by the Packers.
This year I’d try to stay in that 5-8M range where you can have 4 or 5 above average proven veterans filling all these holes. That allows us to get super creative and either trade into the top 7 ahead of Detroit (please dear Lord let one of the top Defenders slide just a hair) OR trade back a smidge and then attack rounds 1-2-3 with 5 picks before the NE compensatory selection games begin.

Go Gute! Don’t fire til you see the whites of their eyes boys! You’ll waste your musket balls! Let’s get multiple kill shots all at once!

Nice to see you boys are playing nice in here....

All in all, I'm okay with Day 1. We all need to acknowledge the elephant in the room that yes, the first two days teams overpay....some a bit, and some a lot.

The only player that I was remotely interested in was M. Jackson. I think Pettine wants another interior rusher to further "evolve" his scheme, and Jackson is as ready as they come to fill that role.

I hope Gute is taking my desired approach in getting value, signing 2-4 2nd tier free agents who can fill some spots vs the "splash" everyone desires. We don't have to empty the piggybank this year, money saved could be used towards a possible "splash" next year.

I'm not at all worried about the free agents who are off the market. Yes, I would have loved Mathieu and Collins to a somewhat lesser extent, but not against 14m a year. Like I think @OldSchool101 mentioned, the only FA i regret us making a serious bid for is Humphries, possibly also Crowder. However both the Smiths are still on the market, and so are Amos, Hicks, Ingram and numerous other options at edge and safety. We will be allright, its only day 2, bring in the value contracts!

It's absolutely ridiculous how many Packers fans are ready to give up on the season on the first day of the legal tampering window. Geez, free agency hasn't even officially started.

While I would have been in favor of adding Flowers at the price he signed for every other team vastly overpaid for the signing that have been reported so far. I'm glad the Packers didn't offer any ridiculous deals like that.

I think the Packers would disagree or they wouldn’t spend $ signing him. While I agree that McCray has been up and down, he has put together some stretches of good games and he’s versatility gives him value.

McCray was tendered for the league minimum without any guarantees meaning there's no guarantee he will make the final roster by any means.

And tell me where exactly did I complain in regards to them not signing anyone today, hmm? I certainly don't recall me ever saying that. Matter of fact, I believe I stated my gripe wasn't in regards to the first day of Free Agency. -_-
So you don't have any problem with the fact GB didn't sign anybody yet, and all of your posts about not signing anybody yet are about what exactly?

Honestly, I threw this idea around on this board last year. No one should be bigger than the team. Not wanting it necessarily, but not 100% against it either.

He's a commodity. If he can't help us win in the next 3 seasons, he can certainly get us a windfall for the future now. These guys have an expiration date.

A commodity is something like copper. All copper is just copper. QBs in the NFL are NOT commodities! Blake Bortles is not identical to Aaron Rodgers.

Back to free agents I would like to see in Green Bay; how about Teddy Bridgewater. It would sure be nice to have a decent backup QB on the roster.

The Packers have more pressing needs at other positions for it to make sense signing Bridgewater as their backup.

I'm showing he's agreed to sign. I wasn't a big fan of his measurables coming out but he had success in Baltimore hopefully he finds the same in Green Bay.

Uhmmm, have you seen how awful the Packers are when Rodgers is on the bench? Cause I have, and it's REALLY bad.

Agreed, but I highly doubt they would have been significantly more competitive with Bridgewater playing quarterback.

Partly correct. A commodity is anything of value to a seller and a buyer, with the price being the I trinsic value the purchaser is willing to spend to aquire it. This price fluctuates by item, and changes regularly. This is more of a " Rosen is silver and Rodgers is gold" conversation. Right now, silver is worth less than gold, but that doesn't mean it will always be that way.

If we can get X worth of silver for X worth of gold right now, and see a potential that in the near future that silver will go up in value, then I could be convinced to trade AARON RODGERS given the right circumstances.

That was my point.

I actually think a guy like Bridgewater would have been a massive upgrade over Brett Hundley. But that's all just opinion. Going cheap and unproven at backup QB hasn't worked recently, curious to see if the front office continues hoping it will start working soon.

I really don't believe any backup quarterback would have been able to be successful with the roster lacking overall talent after Rodgers went down.

Were not getting ANYONE on that list unless we get fleeced by Chiefs for Ford and maybe a shot at Houston.

Earl Thomas wants to be the higest paid free safety.

Amos has four teams in hot pursuit.

I donr't want Sheldon Richardson and there not gonna sign him.

What does Golden Tate do for us?

The rest of the list is blah.

LOOK AT THIS BIG *****

Well he would need to be a massive upgrade over Kizer ;)

I'm all about having a veteran backup, but I'm just not a Bridgewater fan, plus I think the Packers are a year away from really competing for the SB. Save the money this year, see what Kizer has and get that veteran if and when you need him.

Bridgewater is also expected to resign with the Saints.

A lot of people were indicating that Amos would end up in DEN, but it would seem they're out in him, per Ben Albright.

This adds up, as DEN started with less cap space than us and have spent 11M avg on 31 yo Kareem Jackson (lol) and 13M avg on Jawuan James (lol'er).

I would still really love Amos on GB. Him and an edge would be pretty dandy.

Thanks, Gute!
