Jarred Cook and Packers break off contract talks.
So it goes from bad to worse.

This is definitely disappointing. Would martellus Bennett be an option for packers? The Packers need a te
Why would players resign before testing the market? Their agents saw the writing on the wall and how much they could get
Or $60M to an OLB who also has only had 1 big year.
So Ted only overpays for our own FAs but he's too cheap to sign Lang, Hyde and apparently Cook?
I think Ted is an easy negotiator. Tells people what the offer is and you can take it or leave it with a little wiggle room. If Cook wants more than Ted is willing to give, then go get it dog.
I liked the guy, but he's not a super star. None of us know the money being discussed so it's a bit premature to have a real strong opinion.
I view him as very similar to Perry. Except he doesn't play nearly as premium as a position. And he's a bit older I think? Could be wrong. Anyway, coming in knocks were health, playing thru injury, and not a consistent performer, but could create mismatches because of physical attributes and was capable of big plays. And IMO he was all of that last year the good and bad.
For the great play he made in Dallas, didn't he have 2 or 3 early drops right in the hands against the Falcons? We were pretty explosive when he played, he missed a bunch of the year too.
He has definite value to this team, but what's he looking for?
If the Packers do not find a way to re-sign Cook, I'll be livid.
Then go. Go do something else. We won a super bowl with nobodies at TE. I'm not concerned.he has value, has had question marks. He'd be nice to have, he absolutely is NOT a must have player for our offense to be successful or this team. Without knowing the dollar amounts there is no reason to be upset. The problem becomes who are you going to replace Cook with?
His presence is vital for the offense to be as successful as they were last year and the team was 10-3 with him in the lineup.
If the answer is to go "backwards" with RR and counting on the draft again with so many other holes then it's just getting to much to bear.

And the Bears, Lions and Vikings are reimbursing the Packers for the entire amount.Barclay signed a 5 year $80M contract with $50M guaranteed.........
******steps back******
****waits for the implosion****
*smiles*
All those holes? You mean secondary pass rusher and nickel CB. Oh the humanity. 2 roles we'll need rookies to fill in the deepest draft in some time at those positions. Could never happen. NEED that big FA splash
Why in the world does signing a backup to a near league minimum deal enrage so many people?
If I'm reading that correctly, you're saying the Packers' D has just those two deficiencies? If so, could you just list last year's players, with a quick note on why they're not (at least) a potential hole? I'd really appreciate something that could give me some confidence in any area - DL, LB, DB. Thanks.
Lardarius Webb released by the Ravens. Could be a capable and cheap facsimile of Hyde as a CB/S versatile player.
There's no reason to criticize Thompson because of a free agent leaving for more money to play somewhere else, especially with no information about any numbers. Of course I would like the general manager to extend core players early but it takes two to get a deal done and TT can't force an agent to agree to a contract.
It would be disappointing to lose Cook in free agency but let's not panic over a move that hasn't even happened.
Seattle is gonna go "all in" on Lang. I don't expect Cook or Lacy back at this stage either.
So if the scenario is to loose these guys in addition to the others already lost and only bringing in House would that cause reason for panic?
I just don't see how they can draft and fill all these needs. The numbers don't add up.

Now as for making a big splash signing -- like Houston signing Osweiller last year? Or the Bears signing Glennon this year? No thanks.
I don't think Webb will move to cornerback at the age of 32.
I think you are doing enough of that already for the rest of us
