Honestly if Bynes gets signed...I'd bet bottom dollar we don't go ILB in draft till our 3rd pick then, just too many good iDL, OT and WRs to be had that will make immediate impact.

Even if he isn't signed, I don't think we take a LB until the end of day 2, at earliest.

110% agree now. I used to say if Murray is there you HAVE to take him. Now even if he is, let's look at Blacklock or another iDL...or what OT is there or how about which high flight WR...it may not seem like it to some but Kirksey signing opened the draft a lot for us, Wagner also to a lesser but nearly equal amount.

Shoot even Lewis signing now may stop us from reaching on a TE in round 2..if Kmet is gone there isn't a round 2 quality TE this year IMO.

I'd still like to see some moves at CB, iDL, WR, and LB. Some options.

Corner:
  • Mackensie Alexander, Vikings
  • Tramon Williams, Packers
  • Logan Ryan, Titans
Interior Defensive Line:
  • Derek Wolfe, Broncos
  • Shelby Harris, Broncos
  • Ndamukong Suh, Bucs
  • Damon Harrison, Lions
  • Andrew Billings, Bengals
  • Marcell Dareus, Jaguars
  • Dontari Poe, Panthers
  • John Jenkins, Dolphins
Wide Receiver:
  • Emmanuel Sanders, 49ers
  • Taylor Gabriel, Bears
  • Tajae Sharpe, Titans
  • Rashard Higgins, Browns
  • Corey Coleman, Giants
Linebacker:
  • Josh Bynes, Ravens
  • Reggie Ragland, Chiefs

I think it would be wise to consider a veteran WR before the draft. It would ease much pressure to get it perfect this draft. Id be interested in Taylor Gabriel because he brings a different dynamic to our group I think we’re missing. Small and shifty with immediate acceleration and Good hands. If we could get him in the +-5M annual range on a short 2 year deal I’d be interested.

He’s got ties to Shanahan (MLF) the Cleveland Browns (Pettine) and our Divisional Rival Bears, all which bode well for a seamless transition.

That gives us the freedom to be patient at WR until between rounds 3-5 if needed. I’m becoming increasingly concerned with all the hype that the demand at WR will make it cost/cap prohibitive to get that top tier. Which in turn Gives us leverage to get another iDL, LB, TE or CB. If everyone focuses on QB and WR we may see a really good LB or DT slip some into that late day 1-mid day 2 area where it’s not nearly as costly to move around and get our guy.

Josh.....Gordon..... reinstatement soon?
If you are hoping he becomes a Packer, big pass for me. Football talented? Yes? Life challenged? Most definitely. This guy started getting suspended in college (2011) and has continued the same pattern throughout his NFL career, seemingly learning nothing along the way. I feel a bit sorry for him, that his addictions and bad choices have taken him on the path he has traveled, but I would prefer to give the money and the opportunity to a player that probably won't end up letting himself and his team down like Gordon has so many times. For the kind of money these guys are getting paid, if they can't follow what I would say are pretty simple rules of conduct, time to find another career.

The Packers might be desperate to improve at WR, but they shouldn't be so desperate that a guy like Gordon or Antonio Brown becomes an option. I don't have a child destined to play football, but I sure wouldn't want to be the dad explaining to his kid why Josh Gordon is still making a ton of money, despite consistently making bad choices.

He wants to remain a Seahawk anyway. His name is worth bringing up, only because of his (certainly used up by now) potential. I agree, he's not worth signing. Antonio Brown has been quiet lately... That intrigues me. I wonder if he became bipolar after his hit by Burfict and now he's stable on medication. If so, could be a great add ;).

Antonio Brown is going to play in Tampa Bay if he comes back, Brady wants it. I want nothing to do with him at this point.

It would be nice if we could apply that retroactively to Jimmy so we could get some extra room to sign a guy.

Is he a post June 1 designation? I'm trying to figure out what that term means? I'm worried it is obvious but I'm stuck in ignorance researching.

I think our need for money next year is going to be greater than our need for money this year. I'm ripping the Graham bandaid off and moving on. No need to make his hurt last longer

Mhmm.

We have to re-sign Clark, Bakh, King, Linsley, and some more. Gonna take A TON of money.

Clark and Bakh are staying, but will get paid top of their position money. Linsley is gone. I don't think they'll have the money to sign King. CB isn't a need tho, right guys?!

Might be more options coming soon....

I can't really think of anyone on the Packer Roster that this would greatly benefit the Packers. They might be able to spread out the small hits on Lane Taylor or Lindsley's contracts, but I think those guys only get cut if the Packers need the cap space, not due to the Post June 1 designation.

What it might do is put more Free agents on the market now, for those teams that were going to spread the dead cap out by waiting until June 1.

I'm right there with you...Linsley if I was GM is gone now. If for no other reason than absorbing that issue now rather than later knowing he is gone....$10M saved helps too. :)

I don't think you should cut a good, productive starter before you really need to. Let him ride out his contract and get a comp pick.

Linsley has 1 year left on his contract. I think if the Packers have options to replace him, then its time to let him walk. I would prefer Taylor first though, given that he is a backup and also one year. Now if they think Jenkins can play center and Taylor plays LG, that is a bit of a dice roll, but if it lands them a needed WR, TE or DT....might be worth it.

Linsley:

$10,500,000: due for 2020
$2,000,000: Dead Cap*
$8,500,000: Savings/freed up cap

Taylor:

$5,987,500:due for 2020
$1,375,000: Dead Cap*
$4,612,500: Savings/freed up cap

*The dead cap could now be spread out over 2 seasons, so that would add freed up cap space, if the Packers chose that option on either player.
