Linsley has 1 year left on his contract. I think if the Packers have options to replace him, then its time to let him walk. I would prefer Taylor first though, given that he is a backup and also one year. Now if they think Jenkins can play center and Taylor plays LG, that is a bit of a dice roll, but if it lands them a needed WR, TE or DT....might be worth it.

Linsley:

$10,500,000: due for 2020
$2,000,000: Dead Cap*
$8,500,000: Savings/freed up cap

Taylor:

$5,987,500:due for 2020
$1,375,000: Dead Cap*
$4,612,500: Savings/freed up cap

*The dead cap could now be spread out over 2 seasons, so that would add freed up cap space, if the Packers chose that option on either player.

I can't respond, because he has me blocked, but somebody tell him that leaves us with zero iOL depth, and if we keep Linsley (a good player) we get a good comp pick for him when he leaves in FA. Cutting Taylor I'm good with, but Linsley doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

Mhmm.

We have to re-sign Clark, Bakh, King, Linsley, and some more. Gonna take A TON of money.

Clark and Bakh are staying, but will get paid top of their position money. Linsley is gone. I don't think they'll have the money to sign King. CB isn't a need tho, right guys?!

King and Linsley ain't getting resigned.

Mackensie Alexander for 1/4 is another deal I would have been happy to see in Green Bay. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt, given that Jerry Gray has worked extensively with Alexander.

Patrick is the answer first at Center IMO. He started in Linsley's absence already before. I've come around to the idea of not releasing both, like I once was. We can IMO handle losing one, not both.

I think Tramon being back is the most likely scenario at this point.

Robey-Coleman and Logan Ryan are slot corners who are still out there.

Prince Amukamara and Jimmy Smith are interesting if they want to play them outside and move Jaire to the slot.

I’m not anti-Linsley as he’s a good Center, but his contract has the next biggest potential to help this team firm up its glaring weakness at WR, LB, DT and TE. I’d rather allocate that $$$ towards 1-2 positions that need addressing. Even at the expense of drafting a bonafide C earlier in this draft.

It’s just a cost-benefit thing, nothing personal as he’s a solid.

I would take Clay on a goodbye tour year cheap contract...but I'm not signing him until post-draft as I want it cheap. :)

I think with Fackrell leaving this would give us the depth we need at OLB plus some flexibility and depth at ILB as well.

Plus, the drama over who will wear 52 again next year....priceless.

Gurley and Matthews are 2 signings that the Packers don't need and can't afford. Let's concentrate on the positions of need!

Both the Bears and Vikings are currently over the cap with having to sign rookies (Vikings will be about 5 million over and the Bears are about 10 million over). Cuts and/or restructuring coming up at both places
