If Tramon still has gas in his tank, which it sounds like he does, he might be an important guy to get back IMO. Unless, Pettine and Gute already feel that they have his replacement on the current roster. Looking at the depth chart that would be either Sullivan, Jackson or Hollman and none of those guys are exactly screaming "start quality" to me at this point. Obviously, as some have mentioned, we could also hope to find a CB in the draft and if we don't, see what vets are out there. Given the nature of the position and the Packers last 6 draft outcomes that attempted to address the position, finding an instant starter via a rookie isn't exactly how I want to see them approach it.

But if it means purging Lane Taylor to sign Tramon back, count me in.

Yeah I just saw that a little bit ago. I wanted Henry but he got tagged. Hooper would have been nice but not at that price. Hopefully we can add a pass catcher before the draft

This incoming draft class isn't that great for TEs but it is loaded at WR so we should be able to bolster that position there.

While it doesn't have IMO round 1 guys at all (I'm actually a never in first round for TE typically anyways) I do feel end of second round and into the early 4th round there are a few guys that are solid and could surprise folks so long as you don't ask them to be that #1 out the gate. Kmet is my exception, out of ND is ready for the NFL, he blocks exceedingly well, has very good hands and route tree is above average. His frame moves well and honestly if Gute wanted to pick him in the second round I'm not mad..but I think he will be gone by our second round pick honestly.

Trautman, Hopkins, both Bryants and arguably Moss all garner attention with I think Hopkins being the #2 in the class.

Everyone knows I'm a Charlie Taumoepeau fan out of Portland State for the 5th round onward, the dude literally crushed the combine for measurables...he is raw-ish but that frame moves exceedingly well and I think ready to be that #3/#4 guy on a roster.

I will let you know when I get done laughing that the Bears picked up his 5th year option last May and are now cutting him. For a short while when Pace first came aboard for Chicago, I was afraid that he knew what he was doing, those fears are now gone.

Pace's 1st round picks:
  • 2015: Kevin White (#7)
  • 2016: Leonard Floyd (#9)
  • 2017: Mitch Trubisky (#2)
  • 2108: Roquan Smith (#8)
The recent Jimmy Graham $8M/year signing was just icing on the cake.

Not excited about Floyd besides that he was a high #1 pick. Playing opposite Mack & with the interior guys on the Bears (Goldman, Robertson-Harris & Hicks) Floyd should've been one-on-one most (if not ALL) of the time and his production wasn't very good. I think Gute has other, better, cheaper options available.

My thing is that he SHOULD be cheap seeing as he is entering bust territory. But maybe coming off the bench for the first time in his NFL career might set him up for a comeback. He has all the tools, but I admit there's a question mark seeing as playing with Fangio didn't net the results most experts expected.

Packers are interested in Josh Bynes, most recently of the Ravens.

He's a run down specialist, and good at it by all accounts. Would be a replacement of B.J. Goodson at the position. Should not be expensive.

Not a FA but Denver just traded a 7th to Titans for Jurrel Casey....wow. He kind of dropped off last year but still for a 7th I'd roll the dice.

Bynes is a guy I was looking at last night...Teo was another.

TikTok - Tyler Ervin is now exposed. Lets get that kid signed up post-haste. I think Goodson and Campbell are also cheap options that I would pursue, at least for one or two year contracts.

The rest, are low or non priorities.

He came cheap, draft picks wise, because his salary is so high on the remainder of his contract.

That was a pretty steep contract that Denver just took on for him. I admit I don't know a anything about him, but like Dantés just alluded to, teams like the Titans are going to otherwise probably cut a guy like this, so getting a 7th is better than nothing. Wish we could have gotten a 7th for Jimmy G from the Bears :D

Why when Eric Ebron is available?

Any word on Packers interest in Markus Golden?

I would say about zero? They couldn't justify spending the kind of money on another OLB that people are saying he will get. I also think he will be getting paid too much by a team that sees his last year sack number (10).

And The Bears trade for Nick Foles. I can only imagine Bears fans right now. They can't be too happy right now, and if it's the same Foles that performed as poorly in Jacksonville, we shouldn't have much to worry about. XD

Source that they made the trade?

Just all the rumors about the Bears shopping around and looking at Foles and Dalton makes me smile. A good indication that they are about to give up on the #2 pick in the 2017 Draft. :roflmao::roflmao::roflmao: Why not, they gave up on their 2016 #1 pick Floyd yesterday and signed Jimmy G to an expensive contract the day before. What are they sniffing down their in Illinois?

I mean, Foles in JAX was still better than Trubisky last year. Certainly not a great QB but they did, technically, upgrade the position. Now they have a slightly better QB to throw the ball to their SIX tight ends!

Foles contract isn't too cost prohibited for the Bears, but what it does do, is it locks up money that they could have spent elsewhere on a pretty decent player. Also, Turdbiscuit is still going to be almost a $9.5 M dead cap hit on them this season.
