I’m guessing that was prior to official measurements.

5’10” and 183lb is the officials I’m showing. His weight with that height doesn’t worry me as much.

Medical Re-Checks: These guys were hurt for large portions of 2024 and are still in some stage of recovery; it makes sense that they would want to get a good sense of the progress. Whether the checks look good or not will likely determine whether they remain on the board.

Pure Interest OR Smokescreen: These are the players who are projected top 100 and don't have character or medical issues. So either the interest is genuine or they're trying to mislead other teams. Personally, I wonder if the receivers are fallback options (maybe even via a trade down) if their board gets wiped out by #23. I could easily imagine Sanders being a primary target at #54.

Yeah; you're watching a 23-year old man who (in this case) has played for I believe 3 different programs over 5 years, and is competing against young men 2,3,4 years younger with only a year or 2 on the field. You expect him to excel, so if and when he does, it's hard to assess how good he will be at the next level - when he is the one competing against older, more experienced players. He'll be defending WRs his age who sometimes are already in their 2nd or even 3rd NFL season.

Plus, you have to ask yourself - how much better than this is he going to get? Is he already mostly topped out? When you draft a college player, you're projecting where he is going to be 2, 3, 4 years down the road - you're anticipating that he will get better than he is, and with a 21-year old kid, that's a reasonable expectation.

With a 23-year old man? Maybe he doesn't have much more headroom than what you already see.

And how much wear and tear on those shoulders? A study done between 2009 and 2015 (released in 2018) showed that 1 out of every 3 defensive backs tested at the NFL combine already had partial labrum tears and other injuries before they are even drafted, and the longer their college careers, the more likely they are to have latent shoulder injuries.

This era of older prospects is something I hate.

Covid started it, and now with NIL, we might as well get used to it. Sure, the majority will still come out, but if they're not an elite prospect, and it doesn't work out in the NFL, hopefully they are smart enough to have a nice stash in the bank, plus some good investments. 23 still isn't "old", you can still get 2 contracts out of a good 23 yr old prospect. Now the 25 yr olds, that gives me more concern, as 1 contract and they are already pushing 30.

I was going to bring up the NILs also. This is the 3rd straight draft that the number of lower classmen declaring has gone down. If you are a late day 3 prospect it makes sense to stay and get paid a few hundred thousand while hopefully lifting your draft status the following year. I have heard but not confirmed due to these possible 5th and 6th rounders not entering the draft that some teams are updating their trade value charts.

There's also a correlation between breakout age and long-term success.

If a prospect is 23, but he was really good in college at 19, I don't really care about the age. But if it took him until age 23 to ever become good, that's a different issue. It doesn't rule success out for that player by any means, but the hit rate is going to be worse.

The Packers are hosting Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks QB Taylor Elgersma on a Top 30 visit. Elgersma is a Canadian QB, who had a great week at the Senior Bowl, turning heads.

1st QB brought in for a Top 30 this year.
Elgersma won Canada’s version of the Heisman Trophy in 2024. As a senior at Wilfrid Laurier University, he completed 73.5 percent of his passes for 4,011 yards with 34 touchdowns vs. 10 interceptions. Plus, he added another six rushing.

Grant did three cone and came in at 7.69 which is very good for his size
Williams hasn't appeared to do it

Grant has 33.5 arms vs Williams with 32 (very short for his size and position)

Yeah I don’t know what the hell I was thinking. Maybe confused him with someone else. Kenneth Grant would be a Massive Man inside with likely a good chance to supersede TJ quality pretty quickly.

I think Nolen is gone before the Packers are on the clock, but maybe a guy Gute would move up 4 or 5 spots for.
