Okay, so who do you hire if he goes after this season? I would also say McDaniels, but he already sold his soul. So who?

I say Joe Lombardi. If we could talk him into wearing a suit and fedora and get a pair of black frame glasses, he'd look just like his grandpa. He'd also have to get braces to make that little gap in his teeth.

Honestly, Mike is a dead man walking in Green Bay. He was already going to essentially be a lame duck coach when they hired Gute, so it was always going to take a highly successful season for him to stick around and not give Gute a reason to go hand pick a replacement.

Unfortunately for him he's given him every excuse to do that. I'd guess he needs at least an NFC Championship Game appearance to save his skin, and obviously the odds of that are looking pretty remote.

I swear there were times tonight when you could see it in his eyes, like he was thinking "Crap I'm going to get fired here". If so, I hope he does go to Cleveland, I'd like to see what he could do there.

More importantly, if we replace McCarthy, we really need to make sure we get somebody good. Can't afford any Ray Rhodes seasons at this point.

The amazing thing is we've won three out of eight games. That's not much better than we were under Hundley. Obviously Rodgers is better than Hundley, and there are things to get excited about: Aaron Jones, MVS, Alexander, the defense is playing better. But when it comes to the win/loss column, it's not getting done.

Gute does not have the authority. Only Mark Murphy does.

Just because he doesn't have the authority doesn't mean he doesn't have input or say.

It's true that for whatever reason, Murphy retained coach hiring/firing power for himself which is kind of odd for a GM to not have that authority.

It would still be very surprising if Murphy did not succumb to Gutekunst's request if Brian wants MM gone after this season.

And frankly if that is the case, Murphy is far overreaching and part of the problem.

McDaniels is being groomed to take over for Belechick so he's not going anywhere. End of thread.

Maybe?? Our lineman aren't that good at them.. I heard that from a person inside last year I think?

Now..maybe other plays can't work for same reason.

Not an excuse, but it's a possibility .
I think our oline is responsible for a lot of offensive issues. I don't care the rating they get, I hardly remember 1 time Rodgers didn't have pressure from somewhere. I do remember one where they actually kept a pocket, and it was a TD to Graham. Something I've expected more of this year, but has failed to materialize. I also think Rodgers likes to throw it. I think he's too afraid of the INT to throw it where there are too many bodies. Even last week, little dump off to Jones went nowhere for 2 reasons. it wasn't put out there where he could catch it and run like Tom Brady does 20 times a game. He had to change his momentum, catch, then regain, turn and run. and the Rams Linebacker was pretty fast. Result, jack **** for us. Last night his screen pass to Jones looked like the most uncomfortable throw i've seen Rodgers make. and it was ugly from 3 yards away.

McDaniels will forever be with the Pats after what he did last offseason.
I am 99% sure that McD will be the next NE HC if Belichick steps away.

If NE wins the Lombardi this year I think that Belichick calls it a career after 12 Super Bowls as DC and HC.

Who as actually designs the plays though? Philbin or McCarthy?
McCarthy calls the plays i.e run it to set up a pass or do this pass which in turn sets up another pass down the road. Not very well I may add, but I digress.
Anywho yes the coaching is stale and the speeches probably are by now too, but going back to my question who actually designs the plays?

Green Bay used to be a football town. Now all they care about is revenue and more revenue. They want to build all these different types of things for a better fan experience and generate more revenue haha. How about building a team that legitimately is a SB contender and not a one man team. That’ll get you revenue. Greedy fools

I'm extremely confident, that MM will not be coaching this team next year. He continually shows that he has no creativity in his play calling. Why did this team not recover from one fumble? No idea who the next HC will be....

Murphy has been a big part of the problem for a long time. It's unfortunate that there is no check against his authority.

John Defilippo is a name I’ve heard being thrown around a lot

Same. I mean at this point I still don’t see anyone better than Jim Caldwell or Bill O’Brien... who’s seemed to have turned it around in Houston...so unless they skid he won’t be fired. Honestly I just don’t want McCarthy as the HC here anymore. There are too many things he can’t do that I just can’t stand. I’ve never seen a guy go away from what is working as much as McCarthy does. God forbid the defense adjust to anything he is calling. Then he becomes predictable smh

Mm has been here for a long time. Andy Reid was a successful coach in philly but moved on and now KC and Philly have experienced success.

I think this is the most useful comparison .

I would really hope they change the reporting order with a new coach so that it's more traditional. The current structure, which I would imagine they only put in place because they were removing TT, is really unwieldy.

Keep in mind the Packers were playing backups at right tackle and guard last night. The Packers starters are good overall because they have three very good players at both tackles and center. Additionally, it's possible to design plays to account for that issue but the Packers, for whatever reason, don't really make use of those short throws or hurry-up offense to slow down the pass rush.

I know they had injuries, but they did try and run some stuff, problem is, it didn't really work. Keep trying to make it work? Maybe, but it's no guarantee.

They could have hurried to the line more often, run the ball more, thrown more screens (of either the RB or WR variety); whatever the reason, it's obvious this Packers' offense is underperforming at the highest of levels right now.
