I'm neutral on Capers. He has the ability to call up good schemes, which is half of what you want in a defensive coordinator. He was compared to **** LeBeau as a comparable defensive genius leading up to the Super Bowl. This thread would have been laughed out of the forum that season. However, lack of effective schemes and adjustments recently have left most of us searching for answers. Certainly the players have a large role in this too. You can be in a bad scheme and still make plays, and conversely be in a good scheme and still get knocked around and miss tackles.

What I saw on Sunday was players stepping up to make plays more than I saw defensive adjustments. I saw the Cowboys barely attempt to run allowing our defense to be more aggressive. Part of that credit goes to our offense for putting the Cowboys into worry mode.

Does Capers deserve any credit? Absolutely. Do the players, the offense, and the Cowboys? Absolutely, absolutely, absolutely. How much each gets is pointless tail-chasing. Enjoy the win. It was one heck of a ride!

THISSSSSSSSSSS. The Cowboys probably score again if Shields doesn't make a hell of a play on that INT by catching 10% of the football.

I always go back to the SF game where we got shredded and no halftime adjustments were made, that ended Capers for me. I think he should have been canned after that game.

Thanks for the agreement. My only comment about that SF is that you should watch that game again, specifically focusing only on the DL. Nine out of ten times whomever was in there got knocked 5 yards off the line and out of the play. Capers could have switched to a 4-3 defense at halftime and it still wouldn't make a difference if your D-line is blown off the ball on almost every snap. Capers needed to try more adjustments but nothing was going to change the way their offensive line physically abused our guys - like adults pushing around 5 year olds

I go back to Bill Michaels and Mike Clemens on WSSP yesterday stating that it is on the players...They didnt get off their blocks.

I still want Capers gone (new man might give new life next year) but at some point players have to take ownership on HOW they play.

Burnett...BJ

The play with Sheilds picking off the pass majority of the D line all goes to the left..To me looks like they thought it was a run to the left.

Not saying this makes a breaks a game..Or the scheme was wrong, or right..Just that the players are to blame for things

And holy crap the crowd was loud for the Packers when they did good..Didnt notice that during the game

There are no adjustments for awful play.

This has been discussed to death but you have to consider psychology at this juncture. Why is it that a Defense goes from being stout to completely incapable against the run and the only change is that the Team in question lost it's quarterback. I'd further submit that our Nickel Fronts were more effective against the run up until Rodgers' injury than our Bases 34 fronts have been since his injury.

Psychology is certainly one of the variables.

Concluding that the defense became hapless due to Rodgers is leaving out many other factors. There were quite a few defensive injuries already and more than coincided with Rodgers' departure. Eventually only one straw breaks the camels back, but you can't ignore the pile of straws that preceded the last.

Of course there is.

MM: "Capers! What the #$#%%^^!! is going on with the DL. Fix it or you are gone."

Capers: "Trogvac! Why isn't Raji playing worth a hoot? Fix it or you are gone."

Trogvac: "Raji, get your lazy *** on the bench. Get your focus on the game or you are gone. Boyd! You're in."

I have little interest in getting into another long winded argument with you. You clearly think you're just smarter than me and most other on football related matters and nothing I say is going to change your mind.
I thought it was a discussion or exchange. Sorry if I pissed you off. I'm not trying to change your mind, are you trying to change mine? I'll let it go adambr2, let's focus on the Steelers!

Capers is using the rope a dope defense. Seems to be working. Opponents are lulled into false satisfaction in the first half.

Sorry, Don. I admittedly let my opinions carry me a little over the top at times when trying to express them. It's pretty clear that you and I don't always see eye to eye on our team viewpoints, but I will try to at least respect yours even when I may see things differently.

Don't sweat it, it's healthy for both of us to look at opposing views. I just don't want to get in an argument. I suppose I can be a bit bullheaded at times. Go Pack!

This is it for Capers. Giving up 300+ rushing yards in last season's playoff game was Strike 1. Giving up 400+ passing yards in this season's opener was Strike 2. He had the entire offseason to prepare for next weekend's wild card game. Will the 3rd time against the 9ers be the charm? Or will it be Strike 3 and Capers is out?

The hairpiece looked in rare form today. It wasn't even the same color or texture of his real hair. It looked like a black piece of plastic.

C.Jenkins/N.Collins/C.Woodson/N.Barnett/D.Bishop - it's sort of tough to replace the play-making/experience these guys provided.

We're a draft and develop team, we started rebuilding the defense in 2012 - it's an injury riddled 2013 season last time I checked.

How long did it take James Harrison/B.Keisel/C.Campbell/R.Clark to step up and become the pro bowl quality players they are/were. We've got young guys with talent, give 'em time to develop.

We've still got some holes (safety/ILB/NT) maybe I'm a super duper (dumb?) Dom Capers apologist  - idk, I'm just against firing a dude when we're in the middle of retooling our Defense.

The personnel packages today were atrocious. Playcalling wasn't offensive.
He wouldn't even let Datone Jones step on the field. He also had Raji on the field nearly the entire game. He helped clean up on 1 single tackle. Other than that he sat there like a fat tub. The team has been really good the last few weeks when Datone, Daniels and Boyd were all in at the same time. I didn't see that trio once.

I think he is well past strike three.
