Would Saleh be a good hire?

Hafley realized that he loves coaching players, not being a head coach. Now I'm not predicting that he will be the Packers DC until the end of time, but he's not leaving at the end of this season to be a HC.
I know this is an old post, but I wouldn't count on things playing out that way. Hafley said several times that he didn't like being a head coach in college football - because the NIL forced him to spend the vast majority of his time recruiting new players plus re-recruiting his own players to keep them from transferring at the end of every season.

When Hafley was hired, I hardly knew anything about him other than his name. But when he signed on, I spent a lot of time studying him - reading interviews, watching videos of his coaching clinics, speeches he gave, etc. And the one thing that shouted the loudest is that he freakin' loves coaching. He left college coaching behnd because coaching in college wasn't coaching anymore. It was nothing but recruiting.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if he accepted an offer to coach a team at some point. In fact, from what I've read of him, I think he'd like the challenge and the opportunity. If he does what we all hope he's going to do with our D, by Year 3, we may find ourselves in danger of losing him.

I'll be honest. I've been sitting silently trying to figure out why our passing offense seems to have gotten worse since Saleh came on board. Now LaFleur is saying that the few positive moments from the passing attack against the Bears were due to Saleh.

What is LaFleur doing then??

If it weren't for Josh Jacobs we would be in real trouble.
Saleh has not been around very long. And he is not really an integral part of the offense. Maybe over time. If our passing offense declined it was because of two reasons. Love was banged up. And we just happened to play the Lions before the bye in not so friendly passing weather. They have a good defense. We could play Tennessee every week and it would taste like gravy.

Saleh is LeFleur's confidant. His role with the Packers is as an advisor to Matt. I think Matt was throwing him a bone to keep him happy.

The biggest problem Matt is facing, with him on board with him is that Hafely has to feel a bit uneasy about his job. Saleh is a quality defensive coach at the coordinator level, but not really too good at coaching above that level. He just doesn't have the organizational chops for the job.

In a way, having Saleh around is like having a psychologist in the ranks, that Matt can go to, and let off steam.

Good or bad having him there? Both. Great for Matt's sanity, not that great for some of his assistant coaches, who have to believe that Matt doesn't trust them like he does Saleh.

Just my opinion.
