Where did all the Davante Adams Haters go? Long term contract coming?

That potential comp pick in 2 seasons is costing them almost $1/2 million per week this season. That is about a minimum salary rookie cap hit per week.

It's funny that a lot of posters point out that moves like that will result in future issues with the salary cap yet the Patriots ($8.4M) currently have a similar amount than the Packers ($10.1M) to roll over into next season but will end up having over $30 million more in cap space to work with next offseason than Green Bay while having 39 players under contract for 2017 compared to 37 for the Packers.

Unless you are right about every player prediction you make, deliberately starting a thread just to quote and blast everyone who was wrong about one player seems like a really good way to irritate people and set yourself up in the future to have anything you're wrong about rubbed in your face by others.

As for the second question, I would guess it's possible they approach Adams about a long-term deal in the offseason, but I think it's still too early to predict exactly what that would look like. At this point, I would guess they'd still be looking for an early bird discount.

Should they invest any large amount in Adams I think it's a near certainty that they move on from either Cobb or Nelson after 2017 rather than tie up that amount of cap in the WR position .

I agree that it's hard to imagine the Packers having three high priced wide receivers on the roster starting in 2018. It would be great to get Adams to sign a deal similar to the one Nelson did for his first extension early in the 2011 season.

That would definitely be nice. I don't think there's any getting around that Adams is going to get more than Jordy got on his first extension, in part because of the rising cap since 2011 and in part because he's got better numbers so far than Jordy did when he signed his.

If he's already looking for Cobb/Jordy type money, I think we need to wait and see on him. However, if he's willing to sacrifice some money for some financial security right now and sign something in the range of 6-7M a year after his rookie contract, I would be fine with that .

Unbelievably bad. Cost the Packers 8 points all by himself.

Rough day for Davante. Two perfect throws and two of the easiest touchdowns he could ever ask for. Hope this doesn't hurt his confidence

Adams shat the bed today. I hope he redeems himself next week. Those 2 drops loomed large today.

Man, people are fickle. He's having a great season. He had a bad day. Look at his drop stats for the season.
