Julio Jones has a games of 1 for 17, 2 for 29, 3 for 29, and 4 for 35
OBJ has games of 3 for 23, 5 for 49, 5 for 46
Mike Evan has games of 4 for 42, 3 for 38, 4 for 59, 4 for 50
Dez Bryant has games of 1 for 19, 1 for 10, 3 for 40

Maybe they should get benched... Bunch of scrubs.

People over-react about everything. Should he have caught them, of course. Doesn't take away from his year that much though.

To give some perspective.... Going into this week, and Im sure for the most part it still stand true due to him being so much better. Mike Evans (3.9%), OBJ (3.5%), AJ Green (4%), Julio (2.7%), T.Y. (4.5%), Bell (4.4%), DT (4.6%)... All have higher drop rate per attempt than Adams (1.9%).

But does that matter to the Adams' haters? Of course not, because they will jump whenever they get the opportunity. I stand by what I said. Still the most talented receiver on the roster. He had a bad day for sure, but so has Rodgers, Nelson, Lacy, Cook, Peppers, Matthews, Randall, Ty, McCarthy, Clinton-Dix, Burnett, Ryan Martinez, Daniels, Rollins... And well everyone that has ever played in the NFL.

Did you see Wilson last week? **** happens.

There's no doubt Adams had a terrible game vs. the Bears on Sunday dropping two easy touchdowns. That doesn't change the fact that overall he has had a pretty good season this year.

After last year you would have been hard pressed to find a Packer fan who admitted they still liked Adams. This season, up until yesterday, most of those fans had done a complete 180 and now I'm sure a lot of them are back on their original path.

While there were a lot of posters even demanding the Packers to release Adams before the start of this season there were several that were still confident in his abilities this offseason.

I've gone back to referring to him as Davant Adams after those TD drops. He doesn't get called Davante and have the E in his name until I see the E on the field.

All this being said (and I was right in there *****ing about him too), I like having him on the field. I'm sure the cold was a factor. He'll redeem himself over the next 2 games!

I'll give him his due. For the season he's played exceptionally well compared to how he had performed in 2015. However, last Sunday he did give a flashback to 2015. I had hoped that kind of a letdown was behind him, especially with how much was riding on this game and all games moving forward. Maybe it was just an anomaly. We'll see.

Another TD drop today. Mediocre player at best. Not clutch.

I'm still not sure how he should be defined. Too early to call. He can make the plays alright, so you know what he's fully capable of doing. He just has these disappointing lapses where he plays less-than he's shown capable of playing. At this point in his career he's been an enigma. For the sake of the team's success I hope he becomes more consistent in the clutch.

3rd year player still fine tuning his craft. He will be rock solid just in time to sign his new multi-million dollar contract.

Would you be willing to swap his contract with Cobb's at the moment and try to resign Cobb next season? Would Adams be overpaid this season? (I vote yes) But you now have him locked for a few more years.

Interesting idea. I'd do the swap and as far as being overpaid its only because of the three TD drops in the last two weeks that I think most people would say yes. Didn't he have the 2nd most yards of any receiver over a 7 game stretch leading up to the Bears game? I thought I read that somewhere and if he makes those three catches I think the answer from most fans would be no he is not being overpaid. He would be over 1000 yards ( He's only 34 yards shy now and I'm pretty sure those 3 passes would have been for more yards that that) and 13 TDs.

If, if, if... he DIDN'T make those catches!! If I'm TT I'm not extending a WR who will tease with 100+ yd. games and then have multiple-drop games the next few weeks. How enamored would we be with a left tackle who stalemates the opposition 95% of the time but allows the QB to get blindsided 5%? Consistency makes the $$, not flash and disappoint.

Last week Montgomery was the second coming of Barry Sanders; the last 2 weeks it's been Adams is a bum despite the fact he led the league in receiving yards over the middle 8 games of the season. Just a couple of weeks ago it was Nelson should be renegotiated. Two months ago it was Rodgers should be benched.

What a ridiculous world of hair trigger opinion we live in.

By the way, fire Capers. ;)

Davante is top 25 in most stats. Google nfl receiver stats and sort however you want. Davonte's name is shown top 25, sometime higher, no matter how you slice it.

25 out of >150 receivers is not "just a guy".

His drop rate is 2%. Odell Beckham is 3.7%. Larry Fitzgerald is 2.3%. Drop'll paddle what?

Some of these posts are ridiculous.

Bro you can't compare Adams to OBJ or Fitzgerald. Both of those guys see a higher amount of balls I'm sure. OBJ is a touchdown waiting to happen...he's a guy who opens up things for all the other WRs..while Adams is just a guy just like I said.

Adams was sixth among receivers in yards over that period.

Adams was among the top 10 in receiving yards in that span but didn't lead the league though.

Overall there's no doubt at all he has all the tools necessary to turn into an elite receiver but has to be more consistent.

Maybe it was a 7 game stretch, maybe 8 games, but it was a stat quoted during a broadcast though I can't recall which: league leader in yards over that period. It might have been starting with week 5 or 7. That's not to say it was accurate, but there you have it.

It was a question, not a statement. "????" see ?
Here in the Colonies, "Yah think?" is a colloquial rhetorical question in response to a question. You can substitute, "of course", but "yah think?" captures the meaning of "did the question even need to be asked?" ;)

As always, then, please define. Fickle as in...what? Please don't equate to spoiled, as I'm getting tired of explaining how that doesn't apply.

Excuse me ??? What the hell are you referring to ?, and the conversation was between HRE and myself, and I'm getting tired of you picking me up on anything and everything. If you don't like anything I say, ignore it. End of conversation I think. Merry Christmas and a happy New Year.

I am guilty of the knee jerk reaction. What have you done for me lately? I hope Adams comes up with some big plays against Detroit and helps to a big win.,
I think we' ve been pretty consistent on fire Capers. I hate our defense.

There's a closely related phenomenon. That a guy cannot improve either. What some critics capture as an observation that's taken at a particular moment in time is then etched in stone:

Bakhtiari couldn't get better. Adams and Janis cannot get better. Rollins and Randall will not ever be worthy of their draft status. Cobb is worthless. Lane Taylor is a turnstile, Matthews cannot become good again, etc., etc. and variations thereof. Followed by endless negative nit-picking about their performances.

Paradoxically, "explanations" occur when a favorite whipping boy actually does manage to do something good at a clutch moment, ie. faced bad competition, blind luck, only did well because of the players around them, or they'll never be able to do it again so it's just an anomaly that can be ignored.

The Bakhtiari monotone has ceased. Finally. At least for the moment it has. The Adams controversy has taken a softer tone this season, too, despite his recent drops. Matthews may even look better these days than all the guys cut and claimed by K.C.

It's too bad that trigger opinions are nearly impervious to second year jumps, experience, opportunity, perseverance, coaching, athletic ability, good health and other contributing factors to improvement. Not everyone does this but plenty of us on the forum have been guilty of this one time or another.
