Twitter nuggets:

-Apparently a very physical practice overall.

-Montgomery continues to struggle with pass pro, apparently even having trouble with Tripp. This is really going to open the door for Williams if it keeps up.

-King got a lot of reps against the first team offense. Sounds like he predictably had some rough snaps.

-Clark is apparently making a lot of circus catches on a pretty consistent basis.

-Vogel's first punt drilled the roof. Crosby is also 22/23 in camp so far and Vogel has been the holder for all of them.

-Defense using some formations that feature a front four of Perry, Matthews, Fackrell, and Elliott on passing downs.

-Sounds like good plays out of Rodgers and gaffes from Sandland are putting to bed the notion that the former will lose his roster spot.

-Purportedly the best practice for Hundley so far. Good plays involving Davis, Janis, and McCaffrey.

-Rollins good play continues. Haven't heard much, good or bad, about House's work on the field.

Gonna be tough for this Clark (WR) kid to make the final roster.

Sounds like he is doing everything he can to make it tough for the Packers not to be on the final roster or at least being able to keep him on the PS. Still a long way between now and the 53 man, but I am super anxious to see what AR (I mean Hundley, Callahan or Hill) can do with a 6' 6" receiver with decent speed.

Michael Clark with another ridiculous leaping catch that had the rest of the WRs falling on the ground in disbelief. Gunter was the CB.

I would not be surprised if Clark makes the 53, he could be this years udfa surprise. He's got all the size and speed you want plus has only 1 year of football under his belt so his potential ceiling is untapped and seems to be making lots of plays. We will have a clearer picture in preseason obviously but I would not mind one bit if he beat out our this year's drafted WRs or Geronimo for a spot.

He sounds like an exciting prospect, but there is just so much competition at the WR position. Maybe he lights it up in some preseason games.

I don't think Taylor would have been resigned if the game plan wasn't to start him. If he doesn't start last year, Lang still leaves and we see him competing to start this year and still no Evans.

I don't believe the Packers planned on starting Taylor at the time the team re-signed him in March last year.

Gonna be tough for this Clark (WR) kid to make the final roster.

While I agree that it will be tough for Clark to make the roster only three receivers in Nelson, Cobb and Adams have definitely locked up a roster spot in my opinion.

I suspect Janis makes it as an ST specialist, team probably keeps atleast 6 WRs and possibly even 7. Nelson Cobb Adams Janis and atleast 2 more spots. Clark might cause the team to keep 7 if he's too talented to stash on the Practice Squad and too raw to be one of 6 receivers.

Packers never get lucky with picks like him. hope i'm wrong, but i think it's the following: the injury he's dealing with, the Packers already have 2 guys like him, and this...
Gotcha. I can understand where you are coming from but want to see him in action before I give up on him. Thanks for explaining in a decent manner.

I HOPE you are wrong, unless Janis somehow suddenly learns how to run routes without "Go" in the name. I hope that the development of Allison, Davis, Dupree, and Yancey all look good enough to merit keeping on the 53 over Janis, and I hope that we have somebody else good enough on ST to replace his pretty tepid recent performance. In my opinion, aside from somehow herculean gains in skill as either a WR or Gunner (at which he is currently respectively nearly worthless and only good-ish), him being kept on the 53 would say that everyone else had failed worse than him.

Perhaps you haven't been following the live training camp updates by the JSOnline or GB Press Gazette. Janis is having a very good camp as a WR. Multiple eyes of the reporters -- some of whom have not been impressed with him in the past have said so. More importantly, the HC is seeing an improved Janis at WR.

I'll continue banging the drum for once-long-shot Max McCaffrey who's catching everything thrown his way and having a great camp, so far. Some of these young WR's are stepping up and will create some very tough cut-down decisions.

Zach Kruse of Packers Wire wrote the following after Thursday’s practice: “McCaffrey has turned in a handful of spiffy catches at almost every practice of camp. If Ted Thompson had to make a decision on his roster right now, it’d be really difficult to keep McCaffrey off the team.”

"McCaffery with another catch. Kid catches everything thrown at him." — Aaron Nagler (@AaronNagler) August 4, 2017

What I've found intriguing thus far.
1. Rollins has looked considerably better than all other Corners. The way coach Whitt describes it he has out worked and practiced Randall and looks like he has a good shot to start week 1!
2. Jamaal Williams has made plays that make alot of people think he will snag snaps from TyMo. He has been an effective pass blocker also which ARod will love.
3. Keep hearing about Josh Jones physical demeanor and how he is picking up the playbook well. Our safties are a strength good this season.
4. Finally Joe Kerridge. I watched him make plays at Michigan and last year on occasion for us. He made the roster then and he is making plays in all phases of camp to make it again!

I'd been hoping it was that fake news about which I keep hearing :/

edit: not fair, I do hope Janis gets better. I'm just so tired of being disappointed by him

A lot of us wanted more out of him than he's shown as a WR. He scored well on the Wonderlic and he's athletically gifted. He came to the team short on experience at a high level. Maybe all he needed was time, more than the typical big school guy. If he finally get more opportunities in a talented and crowded WR group, good for him. If not, then the team will move on once his ST skills are matched or exceeded.

A tip of the hat to you for wishing him well.

You could be right, but what I had read about Janis (after week one) was this:

Stock down
WR Jeff Janis: His opportunities on offense are dwindling within a deep receiver group. Janis is still a strong special teams player who is capable of handling coverage and returns, but his continued stagnation as a receiver could really hurt his chances of making the roster.

Maybe his stock has gone up this week?

No matter what happens to Jeff Janis this year, I will always appreciate this catch, despite the fact that he thought AR had called a running play and he was just going down field to block. :coffee:

I have read Clark is anywhere from 6'5 " - 6' 6", never saw 6' 7"! :) Doesn't really matter, he is tall! I am excited about him because of his height and what I hear about him snatching everything thrown at him. However, with only one year of football under his belt, at Randy Moss's alma mater (Marshall), I can guess he is far from polished in many areas. Ton of competition at the WR position and although he may not be ready this year, guys like him and McCaffrey are going to give the Packers some real tough decisions for those final 1 or 2 spots at the WR position and if nothing else, some great PS WR's, that is if other teams don't lure them away.

Check out the daily comments made by the coaches, beat reporters and also the Michael Cohen daily podcasts for updated, running info to form any conclusions on Janis. The latest information from all sources would seem to indicate that he's making progress. But coaches in GB routinely talk-up players and reporters aren't coaches and none of them have the final say. The guy who does could be the love child of Harpo Marx and Greta Garbo. We'll have to wait for the 53 to tell the tale, I guess.

He who runs the best routes wins.

My favorite of the three hail marys. Certainly had the highest degree of difficulty.

Collinsworth was right when he said that might be one of the great throws ever made.
