#Packers OC Edgar Bennett said rookie RB Jamaal Williams earned reps with the first-team offense due in large part to his pass protection.

I've thought for a long time that this would be the way in which Williams takes snaps from Montgomery.

just read about him on http://packerswire.usatoday.com/201...ng-camp-stock-up-stock-down-after-first-week/

To be honest with you he just doesn't seem to have the confidence out there. He just seems nerves. I guess filling Rods shoe could put a little pressure on someone. :D

leads in camp interceptions against our d-backs? LOL
Seeing as #12 just threw a pick I wouldn't put in a whole lot of my Chips on training camp news. Let's let this thing play out and let them get out of their underbritches before making funeral plans. :whistling:

The guy loves contact. That's always the best place to start. There's a Williams interview video @ packers.com. If a 5 star attitude counts for anything he'll be a player.

Kenny Clark, not sure if he can't keep the weight up but Id like to see him get up to 330 and be used as a feature nose tackle say 30-40 snaps a game.

I don't believe it would be a smart move for Clark to add another 15 pounds to his frame. The Packers want him to rush the passer as well.

It was not just a money saving issue. Sitton was complaining to teammates about his contract extension negotiations. Team chemistry is very important and malcontents are moved along. Not sure how much of a factor that was in the decision, they must have been rather confident in Lang one way or the other.

Sitton criticized the coaching staff as well, something that seems to be a guaranteed one-way ticket out of Green Bay.

We could see the very same move this year with a player like Matthews or Cobb.......I doubt it, but I would have doubted the Sitton move one year ago today.

I highly doubt either Matthews or Cobb will get released this offseason as both moves would result in a significant amount of dead money counting against the cap.

Joe Whitt said Rollins has been the best CB and has pretty much outplayed everybody.

There's no reason to put a lot of stock into such quotes during camp though.

Good chart and while I agree with it (in hindsight), it could have also read:

"Lane Taylor injured in first game, Packers have no answers to fix guard position" and or "Looking back on the Josh Sitton trade two years later. Who would have thought that "Joe Schmo", the player the Packers drafted with the pick they received in the Josh Sitton trade, would turn into an all pro CB this fast".

Again, the release of Sitton worked out, score one for the Packers front office. However, it also could have backfired or have been done earlier (trade) to further benefit the team.

While there´s no doubt the Packers releasing Sitton last season worked out pretty well the team not having him and Lang around anymore could still backfire in 2017. I´m absolutely fine with the starters in Taylor and Evans but there´s reason for concern by not having a single proven backup on the roster.

Replace Taylor and Evans with Lang and Sutton, chances are you'd have the same backups as you've now got.

Last year, Taylor would have been a backup (had Sitton not been cut), providing more depth. But you are correct, if Lang and Sitton were still on the roster, Evans would most likely not have been signed.

Always a concern for sure. The saving grace for me is that somehow Campen seems to get it done with the younger guys and although we have the occasional turnstile performances made famous by Barclay, the OL somehow has stayed pretty solid from year to year, even when injuries and cuts/non-resigns take its toll.

As Aaron Rodgers ages and his mobility begins to slow down, it is going to be critical to have a rock solid group of pass protectors all the way across that OL.

I don't think Taylor would have been resigned if the game plan wasn't to start him. If he doesn't start last year, Lang still leaves and we see him competing to start this year and still no Evans.

The resigning of Taylor in March of 2016 was definitely done with an eye to the future. Knowing both Sitton and Lang's contracts expired at the end of the 2016 season, Taylor was viewed as a starter in 2017. I think that time table got bumped up when Taylor showed he could be a starter right away AND Sitton started making waves in the locker room and with the Packer organization about his contract. But I don't think the Packers resigned Taylor before the 2016 draft and with plenty of time to trade Sitton, knowing he would be their starting left guard in 2016.

Excuse me gentlemen, but you seem to be discussing an injured Packer. Please cease and desist forthwith.

it was reported through the Al Jazeera news that Marshall Newhouse was making deals through phone calls to Ted to be a swing player.
It was later reported that while the phone calls were possibly legit.. they had absolutely nothing to do with football. :whistling:
