Other than Clay, Cobb is the most overpaid player on the team, in my opinion. And get used to the idea of him not being around, because there is almost no chance that Cobb, Adams and Jordy are all on the team in '18. Still think there is a 10-20% chance that TT surprises everyone and Cobb isn't on the 53 man this year.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say there is a 0% chance this happens.

Thanks,

But in the 12 personnel that I'm alluding to, I would prefer Jordy and Devante on the outside as opposed to Cobb. It's not like I'm advocating going double TE the entire game and letting Cobb get a mani pedi on the sidelines 19 weeks (yes, 19 weeks :sneaky: ) . Just that this is another way to attack opposing defenses, making us even more difficult to stop.

I agree that Nelson and Adams are best suited to play on the outside with the offense lining up with two tight ends. As I've mentioned before I don't expect McCarthy to use that formation on more than 20% of the snaps though.

i don't see it. i think he'll be as valuable as ever. yes, there are more weapons, but i think that fact will make his impact as key as ever. he and Rodgers have a rapport and trust factor that will be tough for ANY rookie to usurp.

I guess the poster you replied to was thinking about the addition of Bennett and Kendricks possibly resulting in Cobb receiving less playing time and targets.

While it's true that Cobb hasn't performed up to the contract he signed in 2015 there's no doubt he's extremely valuable to the offense. With Thompson being extremely reluctant to approach players about restructuring a contract or dead money counting against the cap I fully expect Randall to be on the roster in 2018 as well.

If the team truly is balanced on offense and Rodgers spreads it around then I wouldn't be anticipating any of the receivers - Monty and his understudy(s) included - to have eye-popping stats.

I agree with that evaluation and basically there's no reason to worry about a specific player putting up monster numbers as long as the offense scores a ton of points.

There are no other WRs on the Packers with Cobb' s skill set. To MM, it is all about the matchups and it is a big plus to have diversity in the types of receivers. I think there is little chance that Cobb gets cut. I can see Adams, Nelson, Bennett, Cobb, and Monty on the field at the same time. Thats a lot of talent that can hurt a defense in a lot of ways.

Josh Jones apparently had a day and has been impressing everyone.

Real excited about this kid.

Same. Our ILB needs major upgrade of athleticism. Hope Jones can shed blocks, he can turn into a Ryan Shazier type player.

King is sitting out today's practice with a shoulder injury. Really hoping it's a minor thing and they're just being safe.

Don't know why some people are so bummed bout Cobb. Yeah he gets injured often, but shows up in the biggest games. Big time players make big time plays in big time games.

Yikes. Please don't let it be too serious. He needs those reps especially since he missed OTA's

You would have said that about Sitton last year as well.

I'm not a fan of TT, but even at his worse he's an average GM. And no way would an average GM have three WR's on the roster making over 12m/yr. One, or two, of them will be gone next year.

According to the tweets on jsonline, they overheard King telling another player that they were just being cautious. Fingers crossed...

The Packers releasing Sitton last season didn't result in any dead money counting against the cap. That isn't the case with Cobb ($6.5 million) entering 2017 though.

With the team currently $18.4 million under the cap and a short list of free agents potentially breaking the bank next offseason Thompson could afford to keep three expensive wide receivers on the roster going forward.

Releasing Sitton made the team worse and the money wasn't used for anything. Terrible move. Why couldn't TT make another move that doesn't really have any upside for the team, like releasing/trading Cobb?

I can't even comprehend how bad it would be to have 3 receivers each making $12m/yr on one team. Especially with Rodgers as your QB. TT should be fired immediately if he does it.

How did that make the team worse? Lane Taylor played pretty good, and Sitton was injured in Chicago.

We didn't get anything in return from Sitton. It was an odd move and I'm pretty sure Sitton had another great year.

Let me help you comprehend it.

Imagine a situation where things are exactly how they are now, but when you go on overthecap.com, there's a smaller number next to the Green Bay logo.

Cap space not used carries over, it will be used. Ask yourself, would you want Sitton at OG or lang at OG and Haha going forward on an extension? No brainer to me. Lang was not a big drop off from sitton. Great move by TT.

Taylor "could have been a huge" drop off from Sitton.....but turns out he wasn't, and the coaches were confident enough that he wouldn't be.....any of us who questioned Sitton getting cut should learn by this. Then again, my only "issue" was getting nothing (but cap savings) for Sitton and potential depth issues as a result of injuries, but oh well.......
